Thanks for taking the time to do this video. You can connect the watch to the phone to get whatever updates there are and simply turn off (or not set up) notifications Etc.
@JimmyKinkade the 1000 still going strong tracking my runs (BECAUSE THAT'S ALL IT DOES, rant over). I turned off notifications long ago. It's nice to not have battery anxiety especially if I'm away from home.
I connected it to the app so I will make another rundown video. As far as the barometer on the main screen, give me a chance to go look and I'll get back to you.
Anyone know how to turn on the physical settings and notifications they are just dark and won't let me click on them and I'm connected to the casio watches app, it's doing my head in and the software update isn't working
The pedometer comes activated. The Lifelog widget displays the steps you take throughout the day. As you scroll through the Lifelog screens you can see graphs for your steps for the week, month, etc. The Casio watches app provides further details.
Since you do not connect your phone can you still use the workout functions? I would like to use the biking app for the most part. Since I have a computer a phone and a car Im certain that I could be tracked way easier then by this watch but hey maybe you are onto something.
Yes, you can still use the workout functions without connecting the watch. There are a few features that won't be available without connecting, however all the basics still work. I haven't tested the bicycle workout yet, but me and the boys plan to do some biking this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes.
@@JimKinkade this thing is really amazing, I hooked it up and synched it to my strava and tweaked the heck out of it. It is a killer tool glad I bought it used for half the price the guy must have never worn it very intuitive probably the best G-Shock I have had only thing I did notice was it took a bit to hook up the GPS but for what I payed for it darn good piece of equipment. I did get today in the mail btw. cheers
@@BrunoPulitika the main thing missing without Bluetooth is the notifications from your phone. The sleep tracking doesn’t really work without the phone app. There are a few minor features on the workouts that you won’t get and you can’t collate the workout data without the app.
Thanks friend! this is the best review of this watch on youtube and all over the web, unlike most of the "reviewers" who only present the product without even trying it, I would like to ask you some questions before buying it and thank you in advance if you will answer me: 1) I respect your thought of not using the bluethoot but are you aware of any latest updates and problem resolutions or implementations of new functions? 2) do you think it would be usable on my small 16.5cm wrist? 3) which of the preloaded workouts could be adapted for use in a kayak? 4) do you think the sensors are of good quality and long-lasting? 5) I could buy it for 300 €, would that be a fair price? Thank you for your valuable information and sorry for my bad English...
-------- 1) I respect your thought of not using the bluethoot but are you aware of any latest updates and problem resolutions or implementations of new functions? -------- Yes, some commenters have said that a few of my complaints have been fixed in updates. For example, I complained that you can’t see your heart rate, time, and stopwatch time simultaneously but they’re telling me that with an update I can customize some displays. But I am not aware of any huge software upgrades.
-------- 2) do you think it would be usable on my small 16.5cm wrist? -------- Yes, I think the watch body will fit a 16.5cm wrist well. The wings are built into the strap so it should close down without any gaps in the corner and keep good contact for the HRM. Since the strap is long it may stick out too far for you on the back. One of my sons has a wrist about that size so I’ll ask him to try it on and let you know.
--------- 3) which of the preloaded workouts could be adapted for use in a kayak? --------- I’d use TRAIL RUNNING mode. It has a compass screen. The calories would be incorrect for kayaking but the cardio zone and distance traveled would be good. There’s a workout called OPEN WATER SWIMMING but it doesn’t show you your hear rate in big numbers. (It might with a software update)
-------- 4) do you think the sensors are of good quality and long-lasting? -------- Yes, to me they seem rugged enough for rough and tumble usage such as kyaking, trail running, tough mudders, hiking, etc. In my opinion readings are of sufficient quality for my level of fitness.
------- 5) I could buy it for 300 €, would that be a fair price? ------- Yes, I think that 300 € is fair. That’s about the price of the new yellow Rangeman GW9400 and that one doesn’t have GPS. The problem with the GBD-H2000 is its price point is close to the Garmin Instinct Solar 2, which offers more software features including a kayak mode.
Thanks! I pretty sure the Casio Watches app allows you to view your routes on a map but I don’t have any experience with that app. Also I’ve heard people complain the GPS data can’t be exported to other apps.
@@JimKinkade Thanks Jim, ultimately I am considering ditching my Apple Watch but I value being able to track my activities (walks, cycles) on a map - seems really unclear if this is possible with this Casio product

Yeah, in retrospect I should have shown the different faces.

@JimKinkade sorted it now mate, took about 30 tries and once the update finally worked it was fine 🙂

How do you activate the pedometer? Is it something that's always active and give real time number of step reading? Or is it based on previous day?
