    Hi Jim,

    Great video! As Always! I must say something controversial- I feel bad for Casio as they are in a weird position. Apple Watch has dominated the smartwatch market watch arena, Casio dominated the “dumb” watches since the 1980s so Casio is trying to cover the middle ground between a dumb watch and a smart watch, it’s like a ping pong! In a way you can’t get either direction right! Being in the middle ground gets the worst of both worlds. I for example sometimes truck two watches an Apple Watch 5 on my left arm and a Casio on my right, both satisfy requirements as I don’t consider the Apple Watch a “watch” it’s an arm computer like the Fallout video game Pipboy😂. I use the Casio as a “watch” and the Apple Watch for everything else. I would choose the Casio fitness watches but it just seems to me not to do either thing well. I can see a market for it and not saying it’s a bad watch and for some people it’s great, but for my needs it just comes short

    • @JimKinkade

      Here’s a physiological trick: think of the GBD-h2000 as a GShock with a heart rate monitor. Then you’re not as disappointed in the lack of features.

    This is why you never follow advise from any youtube as everyone has it’s own opinion based on his level of knowledge which could be just stupid. Using smaller arrow in compas designed to save energy same way as Face-2 option with lower resolution. No one is obligated to make something to satisfy someone’s need for 100 percent. You are responsible to do your homework before buying something.

    • @JimKinkade
      @JimKinkade  10 месяцев назад +3

      That’s a steaming pile of malarkey! The triangle pointing north is filled in. They could use the same number of pixels for the outline of a much bigger triangle.
      Face 2 doesn’t save energy by having 5 slices instead of 60. I’d have to push my 80 IQ points to the limit to figure it out but I think it would average out to be the same.
      It’s just lazy, uninspired programming designed to get the product out the door.

    • @AlexAAAAAAA7
      @AlexAAAAAAA7 10 месяцев назад

      Because you mentioned programming about creating bigger arrow line instead of smaller arrow with filled pixels here is answer to that. When you have filled pixels you can write coordinate range to shape arrow. Foe ex 1-10, 2-9, 3-8, 4-6 and 5 with basic do lupe function which is faster and frees variable space. If they use line like you suggesting then each pixel should be attached with separate function which takes more variable space, slower and definitely is going to use more energy. Also the line will be less visible under the sun then filled arrow.

    • @blackforestghost1
      @blackforestghost1 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@AlexAAAAAAA7 The very tiny amount of energy, that will be saved by a smaller arrow is not a good reason to design the compass this way!! There are better ways to save energy on this watch, and it is important to have a compass arrow, which is visible in many situations of different light, which isn`t given by this tiny arrow. Fail !

    • @paulsochinfan
      @paulsochinfan 8 месяцев назад +1

      I agree it should make a bigger arrow, I think it doesn't waste much energy that way, the time screen certainly waste much more energy than that arrow.

    Excellent review. I just ordered 3 black orange Casio GBD-H2000 G-Shocks for myself after watching your reviews. I was able to find them on sale for $287 each plus tax with free shipping, so I grabbed 3 of them to have 2 extra spares on hand. Another reason why I bought 3 of the same exact model was because I figured that I wouldn’t be able to find the GBD-H2000 anytime soon again on sale for the low price of $287. I’ve been seeing this model sell for between $325 to $399 on eBay and Amazon, so that’s why I snapped up 2 extra ones.
    I currently own the GBD-200 and i wanted something with more features on it. I’m not a fitness person and I don’t go to the gym. I will use the GBD-H2000 for viewing the time and will only use the compass, altimeter, barometer, step tracker, world time, stopwatch, snooze alarm and once in a while I might use the heart rate monitor and the GPS. I don’t care about Bluetooth and will turn it off so I don’t have to charge the battery.

I purchased my all black GBD-H2000-1BJR last night from Japan from eBay. I really like all of the features that Casio packed into this particular model. So far, I'm using only the step counter and the sunrise/sunset and moon phase on mine.
      I just received all 3 watches yesterday and the day before yesterday. I set up 2 of the 3 watches using bluetooth and updated both watches with the Casio app. I have the 3rd watch in storage and am not using it for the time being. I had bluetooth turned on for 24 hours on the 2 black orange GBD-H2000 watches, but then placed both watches on airplane mode so I can conserve the battery.
      I would like to know from you if you think if it's better to save the battery by using airplane mode rather than just disconnecting the watch from bluetooth. • @blackforestghost1
      @blackforestghost1 10 месяцев назад

      That`s incorrect! As long as your device is not giving out any radiosignals, like ,for example: Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS or any of those, tracking for others is impossible. (simple physics, no sending=no receiving).Scanning or tracking of a device needs the target-device sending or emitting (pulsing) any sort of waves.And the tiny magnetic field of your electronics or battery pill (the so called "electronic signature") in your watch is far to weak, that it can be spotted or targeted by ANY drone or scanner, unless this drone hovers only a few inches over your watch.
      (It`s different with modern smartphones or tablets, since some of these are still sending signals, even if switched off, but not your watch).

    I look at this screen of the watch and it seems all jumbled, I think Apple Watch really gives great workout info, and it seems precise and gives distance, heart rate, etc etc then rings close just for a quick glance of where you are in the weekly workout. That’s why I have the Apple Watch just for work outs and the Casio Mudman gw9500 for time, my Apple Watch 5 was only £100 used so it was cheaper than my GBD 100 step tracker! Plus I have a Leatherman Tread converted watch strap adapter for the Apple Watch so it’s a survival arm computer

      Post a wrist roll of that Apple Watch with the leatherman tread. I’d like to see that!

      They make these Bestek Tread adaptors that you can mount a Casio GShock to the Tread, but I think they only support the old GShocks, and it’s kind of janky looking with a GShock or so it looks like in pics I see on internet. It looks better with Apple Watch

      All the links from the tread can be adjusted with a one pence coin or USA penny

    Hey Friend, just another question. It’s day 2 with my H2000 and I was wondering if there’s a way to get local temperature/weather?
    I also tried out the activity mode for weight lifting and I was wondering if there’s any rest timers? Or if there’s anyway to time a one minute break between sets :) Thanks boss!!

      I think you found a few features that are missing from the H2000. Unless Casio updated that software, the watch can't do those things. There's interval timer workout but it's not a rest timer. I'll go get my H2000 and double check. I'm testing the new Rangeman now.
