If you’ve worked with Animals, they are smarter than a lot of humans. Treating them with kindness makes all the difference in the world. I’ve seen horses kneel on their own (not trained) to help a young child get on. We took in a horse that had a bad reputation for throwing/bucking riders off and within 3 months he was the sweetest easy to ride stud you’ve ever seen. While we didn’t have sheep, they can’t be that different. Be a bit gentle their first time with you, be kind, and all future interactions with them will be better.
Watched all your videos and its so lovely to see the bond you have with the animals. you're a great narrator and you have a very calming voice. I now use the past videos as an ASMR to help me sleep. Thank you so much to you and your wife.
So fabulous, and so much skill needed to shear a very pregnant sheep. One of my Jacobs had to be shorn about 2 weeks before she had twins. He was teaching his sons about shearing and it was interesting to hear the way that he explaining the difficulties and techniques needed to get rid of the fleece carefully in a way that won't stress the ewe. Lovely careful job!
@@rubendaniel249The amount you commented on this channel random intros w/ women like this one, makes you seem like a Nigerian romance scammer. Tell me, how do you get them to private chat you when RUclips doesn't have that feature?
I can’t stop thinking about how much better she must feel not packing all that extra weight around! What a sweetheart! Just kicking back getting a groom and a lite message at the same time! Thank you for the chill video! Be safe
Whoa! Thats one giant fleece! Some shepherds shear their ewes just before breeding because they can get too uncomfortably big to safely manipulate on a shearing floor but she looks like an outdoor ewe and it looks a little snowy in the background, in which the call is to try to keep their fleeces on as long as possible to keep them warm. Shearing at least around the girl parts of the belly and back-end makes lambing less messy, more sanitary and gives the lambs good access to nursing. She just got a mommy makeover!
Just what a girl needs when she is near due, a makeover! I stopped at a friend's house on the way to the hospital (5 cm dilated) to get my hair braided and out of the way. You did a great thing for her.
Whoa! Thought you meant the Driver irresponsibly stopped when You were in Dire Need of Help ... You!! stopped to get your Hair Done! Was there Any resistance from the Stylist, or did they Already Know you're the Evel Knievel of Pregnancies (Very odd juxtaposition acknowledged!) !!!!!
@@KathleenPriem-xl7lp I have heard of lots of women in labor doing the same thing. Some do and some don't. My friend who did my hair, thankfully, had had 5 children and understood this.
Wow, you sure do know how to shear a sheep! Position it, hold it just right, remove the coat usually in smooth piece, and keep the sheep calm. Just amazing. 🐑🐑🐑
I remember the days in the 70s and 80s shearing sheep for the farmer down the road from us. We always looked fwd to his call. It was a nice change from milking 50 cows twice a day. Sheering was always at night after our last milking. Loved it! I can appreciate sheep farmers.
This is so satisfying to watch! I thought all these videos would be the same but absolutely not. The sheep’s look like they are in distress, the shearers are super aggressive and the sheep would get up all nicked and bloody across the back 😳 I’m sticking to this channel 🥰
I agree. She is so so gentle with her clients. The kid that shears for Sandi Brock is an absolute menace and I skip her videos that have him shearing. It's so nerve wracking watching him throw those sheep around like they're bags of grain. He should watch these two and learn a thing or two.
Your work is simply remarkable. It's amazing how much the sheep simply relax and trust you as you shave their wool. It must be such gratifying work, working with beautiful animals.
It’s amazing to see how much the sun bleaches the wool. Shearing these guys is like unwrapping a Christmas present. It’s seems like fun to reveal their beautiful coat patterns and colors.
I feel like her kicking as you got lower down on the belly was "Be careful of the nips" "I'm being careful of the nips" "I SAID BE CAREFUL OF THE NIPS"
Beautiful fleece off that momma!! But she was definitely due to be shorn!! Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
What a gorgeous color once you started with the 'long blows'. Had to watch several times to appreciate things like the sheep in the background watching you, and her (the sheep you were shearing) look up at you like "is it OK if I take a nap now"... but you were almost done. Bet with that fleece off itvwill be easier to deliver her babie(s) and for nursing also.
That was so satisfying to watch. ❤ I loved the video that featured your injuries and scars and how you dealt with that. Could you share more about self-care practices that you and your wife have found helpful? Your bodies take a beating with all that bending, stooping, maneuvering, reacting... Do you get regular massage and chiropractic? What do you do to stay strong and healthy?
She must have been so uncomfortable. Obviously knew relief was imminent and just relaxed in to. Very skilled job . Really impressive especially the attention to areas of high risk of infections.
I cannot get over how laid back they are, is it because they know and trust you ? You move them around so carefully that they must know you are kind and won't hurt them. Beautiful job. I am sure the fact that you care also plays into it, you are there to help. Sorry for ramble, really enjoy watching.
Have found FinnSheep the easiest to shear as they don't get a greasy skin like Suffolk etc. Also the kink in the wool seems to be higher up, so less resistance. May not agree with me, but found that when dealing with kicking nervous Nellies, it helps to put the shears on their snout. This gets them used to the vibration and noise. It takes about 20 seconds, but saves a lot of grief. You have to show them who's boss!
You were so sweet and gentle doing her belly❤. I noticed that you are wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt, not to mention the toboggan, are you still in Scotland? I think that's where you went 💖
Wish you could sell the bulk hair for pillow stuffing, felting or whatever. Maybe give us some info. The old guys used to soak it in barrels of cold water & ammonia, then hang it to dry then they sold it. It could then be clean enough to mail.
What sheep has the softest wool? Which is softer.....Sheep's wool, alpaca wool or llama wool? All my life I thought I was allergic to wool, but as it turns out, (according to Google) it's most likely not an allergy, but a coarser, cheaper wool fiber that pokes you and causes itching. They call it 'textile dermatitis'. Who knew? I'd love to give a more softer wool another shot.
Both bodies seem to float in rhythm to an unseen conductorthinking it must be soothing to the sheep to be shorn, their bodies get rolled here and there, front to back and they endure with no resistance; all of this to be free of their heavy wool coat.
You're so gentle with her! Aside from a few "warmup" kicks, she relaxed quickly under your tender care. Well done! ❤👏👏
