i'd been struggling before because i couldnt find any tutorials that really hit the hammer for what stuff does and the way to use it, etc until i saw your video!! your video was SUPER easy to follow and left no questions about how to do something or whatever. it even answered questions for rigging and stuff outside of rigging an eye!!! i really appreciated your video, thank you so much :DD
thank you SO much for this amazing tutorial. I just started to get the hang of LIVE2D's functions and was looking for a video that took rigging to the next level with little tips like the pupil and eyelids movement. i can't wait to try this out myself!
This was such a lovely and detailed tutorial, all your instructions were clear and easy to follow and actually helped me understand some of the basics of live 2D! Highly recommend this video!
I was banging my head against a wall at 17:15 because I wasn't being given the option to edit the bezier divisions. I thought I created the deformer incorrectly and was confused why it wasn't working for me. But then I figured out why it wasn't working. You have to be in Edit Level 2. I was in Level 1 for some reason and on that level you are unable to edit deformer beziers. So if you make your Lash deformer and are unable to change the beziers, make sure you double check that you are in Edit Level 2 (the option is right in the center of the tool bar on top)
I`ve watched some popular rigging tutorials but none of them were as simple and actually worked for me XD thank you so much! im in the process of making my first vtuba and i needed to check if the eyes looked okay before i keep going . i found several mistakes in my layers that need fixing thanks to you! Subbed!!
Oh my gosh finally a good tutorial I can easily understand ! Really great explanations thank you so much, definitely gonna check more of your videos out !!
Thank you so much for making such a clear and thorough tutorial showing every step from the very beginning to end! A lot of ppl assume that we know some of the steps already ;~;
thanks for the tutorials, you add a bunch of little detail that i wouldn't have even thought to add (e.x. eyelid moving with eye XY) that make the end result so much better!
Finally a tutorial that actually shows how stuff is done. All the other tutorials by other people I have seen so far have so little information and people talking fast as frick.
Omg 😱 I love you, I needed exactly what you are teaching to start working in Live2d. I like that the videos are short and specific for each problem ❤️ Thank you so much 🥺
Got to the "blink" part, and suddenly all sorts of design choices appear out of nowhere. Like, the hatching on the lashes actually looks like lashes curving outward after it's deformed, something you can't easily see until it's been deformed. Then there's the side lash, which doubles as a way to extend the eyelash when the eye is closed, and the color choices blend together regardless of whether the eye is open or not. Now I'm wondering what choices where made in order to get the most out of the art that I didn't notice at all.
This was so so good!! I've been scouring the internet for tutorials and this has been the only one to actually make me feel like I might just be able to do this all. Thank you so so much!!!
amazing video I had it open while working on a small project of mine and itis just amazing to even listen to you have suvh an incredible and soothing voice!! Its so easy to understand and use ty for this I am gonna watch your whole playlist! Your also an amazing artist I love your designs! ty for those wonderful videos!
I appreciate your time and effort to make this video, I rewatched so much and I'm pretty sure I could quote some of it by heart ^^; but its probably the easiest tutorial i've found to follow :) You made my job learning so much easier!
This video is amazing!!!!Although,I have neither the PC nor the software, I can understand every step. I’m so excited and can’t wait to try it by myself.(I’m not the English native speaker, sorry if I make any mistakes about the language)
This tutorial was something I had been looking for for the longest time! Thank you so much for making this video, you have made the whole rigging eyes so much easier for me!
thank you so much for this video, it is very thorough and easy to understand + u have very nice voice (i couldnt stand the other tutorials that had loli voice)
I had no clue how important it would be to watch how someone experienced made their meshes!! i think I just figured out why my lashes looked like spaghetti LOL
Hello Yoshino! Not sure if you'll see this, but after following all of your tutorials (huge thank you, you're amazing!) my eyes in VtubeStudio are glitching. They are constantly open at the wide eye open parameter instead of the 0.8 where they should be. Checked the params and both are set default at 0.8. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks in advance!
Hello! Have you tried increasing the higher input Number in vtubestudio? If you're confused you can check my video on vtubestudio! It's in the how to Live2d playlist
Great video, I only get stuck at the blinking, can anyone explain WHY REDUCING THE SCLERA THE IRIS DISAPPEAR? Is that layer distribution depending? 21:30 for reference
13:45 The highlights actually don't move alongside the pupil because the light is being shined onto the entire eye from a stationary light source. Moving highlights mean that the source of light is being moved with it, which is wrong. Obviously you can choose to do this for stylistic purposes but keep this concept in mind before actively trying to do so.
I guess it's debatable I make the light move when the eye blinks I imagine the shine be there because the eye is nice and moist, so since the eye blinks I imagine that "water" being kinda shaken by the eyelid ^_^
@@YoshinoArt That's an interesting way of thinking of it, but in reality it's just like a metal bar. The bar itself will move but the light reflection will remain stationary unless the shape obstructs the light by shifting position. If there's disruption, you perceive the light as moving, otherwise you dont (like calm water vs wavy water). With eyes is more and less the same thing, since there's little to no disruption at all.
hello! i've been following your tutorials and it has made my eye rigging an absolute breeze! you explain them really well and thoroughly, though I have one problem.. in the part where you taught us to do the wide eye and close eye parameters. for some reason, my left eye's default is the wide eye look but it didn't go over to the right eye when I flipped it. so now it looks like my model has one wide eye and the other is normal :(
Does anyone know how to reopen Parameters? I accidently dragged Parameters into a separate window and closed it and now parameters are completely gone from my live 2d ;-; even opening a new live 2d model it doesn't show up and I'm at a complete loss as what to do
something i dont understand: how do you shrink the sclera and cover the iris together when the iris is on top of the sclera? wouldnt the iris remain when the sclera is closed?
Thank you for the tutorial! As a beginner, I'm not very familiar with the interface and function of the program and this video really helped a lot. However, I'd like to ask if this is the free or paid version of Live 2D.
Hi there, i'm following your amazing tutorial but i have a problem. I did copy past process for one eye and when i go texturing maps show me only one anthe other is like not exist!! i'm going crazy i really don't know how to do, can you help me please? thank you soooo much!
Your eye tutorial is just amazing! I'm definetly going to use this on my own model, the paralax effect is going to look so cool! I have one problem though, at the Rigging: Blinking part when I'm supposed to select all the parts for blinking and click "Edit Keyforms Manually" I get the error message "Please select a Parameter." I've rewatched the video multiple times but I don't know why this is happening. Also is there a way to change the order of the Deformers? I try to click and drag but nothing is happening. I accidentally put the eyelashes behind the iris.
Hello! For the first problem, first you select all the parts for blinking, then you click on the Eye Open parameter and then try again to click "Edit Keyforms Manually" and it should work. ^_^ If you want to change the order of the deformers, you have to do it in the "Part" section and not in the "Deformer" part. (The one that on my screen is on the right near me)
this is a very easy tutorial to follow, thank you! I have a small problem though when it comes to previewing the blinking in the physics window, my eye doesn't close all the way do you know what I might be doing wrong?
Hey! I am currently trying to get the blinking part down and have selected all of the eye layers but when I try to edit keyforms manually it gives me a message that I have a max number of parameters? This is because I currently have the free version of Live2D. In order for me to make my model blink do I have to purchase Live2D or is it possible to do it while sticking with the free version?

I was struggling about the mesh path cause i couldnt find it XD and my model couldnt auto blinking, turns out tht we should select all of the elements before adding the key parameter right?
Hello :0 , I followed all the steps in the two videos, but I have the problem that the pwp blinking does not work in the other copied eye! I already did the thing of putting it in the blinking settings, and it works once it is shown in the physics window, but when I use the playback tool the copied eye doesn't work (it doesn't blink) I don't know if that will work later
Hello. I have My "Eye Open" Parameter set wit the Default of 0.8. But when I use the physics blending settings it appears to default to 1.0. What am I doing wrong? Btw AMAZING TUTORIAL! Thank you soooo much!
hihi!!! i'm not sure if i could get some help - in my physics for my blinking, my eyes only go to the halfway open keyframe rather than closing completely and then opening back up. i followed everything but i'm not sure if im just missing something LOL
Sometimes Live2d is a potato like that, you can grab it manually and slide along the parameter or export the model in VTS already and do a check that everything is alright!
17:23 to those who didnt know, hold CTRL while resizing the deformer
Oh my goodness, thank you! I really couldn't figure out how to do it ❤
