Thank you, thank you, thank you! My sew tech wouldn’t touch this machine. He said it wasn’t worth it. But this machine was my Mom’s so I was going to try. I bought all the gears and thanks to your video, I fixed it! Timing too!
I have this same machine that was branded as a “Tailor Professional “ sewing machine and sold overpriced at hotels on the weekends. Said schools used them for sewing classes and overstated the machines capabilities. It’s definitely better than the crap they sell in big box stores.
How do you replace the belts? I noticed in the video the belts are cracking. Used this tutorial to change gears on my mom’s model and her belts are also beginning to crack. Thank you for the content!
Thanks very much for this. It helped me make a difficult decision. I found one of these in a skip (dumpster) and would have fixed it up but I really don't need ANOTHER sewing machine badly enough to go through this!
Tks to you. Your video helped me replacing all 4 gears and perfectly synchonized the machine. Your explanations and the supporting images are very clear.
Really like your video. The worm gear on my stylist is broken badly stuck did everything you suggested on video and more. Do you have any suggestions on removing it off the shaft.
I would need to know what has it stuck. Make sure that ALL set screws are loose, probably a good idea to remove them. Some of the gears have two set screws and have seen a couple with three set screw.
can you share how you replaced the gear? The black plastic top gear broke - can I sew straight stitch w/o gear? I don't want to take it somewhere if I can get that pinion gear and replace it myself. thank you
Very helpful. After replacing the gears the needle is hitting the bobbin case and breaking. I’ve tried to adjust the timing with no success. Any help is appreciated. .
Your videos are great! Thanks. I need help please with Singer Panoramic Model 9018. Underneath a 2" spring was hanging off at 1 side. Didn't take a pic. Next morning, i couldnt recall where it came from. There are 2 x 2"springs underneath. Other 1 fine - but where does 2nd spring go?
The gears right under the needle on the bottom are worn down and not rotating the horizontal one. This jams the needle occasionally as it hits a piece below as it dips down. I cleaned out the broken gear metal but now the bobbin thread won’t catch when I try to set the machine up. Any tips? 🙈
Great Video, love the detail. I have spent many hours on this. Have it all timed and still no pickup when sowing. Could my needle be to far from the hook. It is about .015 In.
Thank you< That is a very close tolerance probably good. have you tried to sew in all three needle positions, left center and right? was the outcome the same in all three positions?
@@sewingmachinetipsandtricks9079 Yes. Picks up great when there is no material as in picking up bobbin thread to get started. I guess the thread is not forming any kind of loop when the needle is coming back up. I took a couple of pictures but don't know how to send them to you.. Thank you so much for the reply.
@@armandfusco6482 It could be slightly out of time, I assume this is a top load bobbin, here is a video to make sure it is properly timed ruclips.net/video/hW-4OV4IWVc/видео.html
I have an 814 Singer that was made in Poland, looks like this only blue on casing. Think the timing is off since the zig zag doesn't work right. NOw I think I know where to loosen it. Will go get allen wrench.
On my singer stylist 834 I’m finding when using the flexi stitch pattern that the machine goes in reverse instead of forward. Any idea on where to start looking for the problem. Thanks.
GREAT VIDEOS ... I am in need of instruction to replace feed dog Gears on a SINGER model 6268 ...its a little more complicated than this video with the drive belt a d circuit board in the way ...please help ....thank you very much
I don't have a 6268 to make a video on. On the electronics I would suggest taking pictures of everything so you know exactly how it goes back together. The feed system and needle hook timing are the same as far as making a stitch. When dealing with a belt you just need to set your needle hook timing by adjusting the belt, it is actually easier than a gear system.
As others have said, your videos are really helpful. However, I am a bit stuck. I have successfully removed the gears and getting reading to install the new ones but for some strange reason, the shaft that holds the worm gear (the lower one that's further away just in case I have the wrong name for it) is not sliding any more. I wonder if I turned the hand wheel in the wrong direction. How do I fix this problem? Thank you.
You can join my group and I can try to help you. The motor can be difficult to remove and replace on this model machine. The link to my group is on my YT home page.
On the stylist 834, do you have any suggestions on why it is not doing a zigzag stitch, I have flipped back and forth, but it still only does straight stitches. Thank you in advance
They are E-Clips, It is almost impossible to find the specific one for a machine. I suggest getting a set and finding the size that fits. Here are several different sets amzn.to/4baOARH
Hi this was a great and helpful tutorial...I got my 834 for free and will work well for me as a second (home) location machine. I make hockey jerseys (99% zig zag work) I will have to change the gears myself for cost reasons. Where I got stuck is with the gear you had to use the punch and hammer to remove. I am having the same issue...although you got it off you video doesn't actually show it coming off. Can I assume you may have had to use serious force to remove it...? Is it possible I won't be able to get it off? My only option is to take the risk of ruining this project at worst. I admire you work and you channel and any advise would be greatly appreciated. Robert, Ottawa CANADA
You can get it off, just be careful to not damage the shaft. I have had to do this many times, sometimes it can be very difficult, a damaged shaft will cause you more problems. Just take your time and walk away when you start getting frustrated. If you have to use a chisel when putting them back together ensure the setscrews are out of the way and everything is lined up.

I had to have the feed dog gears fixed on the 833. The technician criticized my machine and claimed it wasn’t worth fixing. But I was attached to it as my first machine. So I had it fixed. Still I wonder - is it really not worth fixing? What is your opinion of these machines?
