    If it doesn't fit in your house of apartment more than likely you won't be buying it. But there are those blessed that will.

    I get that it's a safe that's so ridiculously heavy that the door alone must be over 1500 lbs but wouldn't you want the hinges of a safe to be on the inside? What's the reason you would want them outside?

    • @seaworthsafesales4289
      @seaworthsafesales4289  2 года назад +13

      Great question! The outside hinges can support a lot more weight and allow you to open the door a complete 180 degrees. The Fort Knox safes are designed so that the bolts lock on the inside of the safe body. This means that if you were to cut off or remove the hinges on the outside, the door will not open for the bolts are still locked to the inside of the safe. I hope that answers your question.

      Safe dollies and digging irons. Mine weighs in at 5k pounds. Hardest part is getting them upright after they ship them laying down. A 36" door needs to be removed including the jambs as well as the header. Otherwise it's just a good weekend project with friends with good backs and a reason for a brew to install. I recommend setting it on cribbing like dried oak or the like. If it's on the floor , it will remain.....on the floor forever! Bolting it in is not necessary, but then again, is any of this really necessary.

      Forward to 0:43 on the video, you can upgrade to the 1/4" body with an AR 500 Steel liner. Then if you are still worried about someone taking a torch to it, add a stainless steel liner. Check out the Legend Safe made by Fort Knox. Essentially, steel thickness and weight, buys you time. The more steel/weight there is, the longer it takes someone to cut it open and/or move it.

    too bad you will need to buy a metric ton of desiccant to prevent your weapons from corroding due to the drywall in the safe. drywall is used as a firewall in 99%of gun safes with fire ratings and it will release moisture over time and in a house fire that fire rating is a moot point as it can be 2 -3 times the temperature of the fire rating (which is almost always conducted in house by the manufacturer) a simple gun cabinet will be much more beneficial in the long run for gun storage. and if you are worried about theft and fire, that is what insurance is for

    • @seaworthsafesales4289
      @seaworthsafesales4289  2 года назад +10

      The difference between Fort Knox and other competitors is that we use Type C fireboard instead of the typical Type X. Type C has a far better fire rating than Type X. You can see the big difference in this video: ruclips.net/video/1emdpdLWhH4/видео.html
      As far as moisture in your safe, that is why all of our safes come with a dehumidifier rod. Folks that live in humid areas certainly need this to keep the humidity from corroding the goods inside.
      The placement of your safe is crucial. If you put your safe in a basement, you do run the risk of having the house fire fall into the cement foundation essentially creating an oven. We recommend placing it in the garage bolted down to the cement.
      Lastly, insurance is a great thing but cannot replace those family heirlooms. Best to keep those as safe as possible.

    • @jasonlommen4769
      @jasonlommen4769 Год назад

      High quality safes like FN, AS, Brown, Graffunder, don’t use drywall. They all have a proprietary blend as the fire barrier. Your concern does not apply to these safes. Real safes, real quality. But also very $$.
