- This video is about how to Install a Fort Knox Vault Door In your Home or Office. Vault Doors are increasingly popular and are used as safe rooms, large gun rooms, Man Caves, and more. Installation is easier and faster than what you may think. I would recommend you also wear safety shoes and glasses, why take a chance..

I could not believe how effortlessly he moved the door and frame with the rotation of a crow bar LOL. That is a good trick 😁👍
It's how the Egyptians moved large materials. Put something small underneath that large load so it can be rotated on or rolled. And walla years later you've moved it 100ft lol.
Never knew how they installed one of these so fast in my attic but now I know, cool video.
Thanks, it’s interesting to see how it’s done. So glad you liked it, John
I wonder if they should of unpackaged any further away. Maybe upstairs next time so that they have to carry the maneuver the door even further😂
Hahaha bruh
I came for the install, not the unpacking 😅
Just what I need for the new home I'm building......
I love hearing that :-), John
Here in the qeer old corrupt uk 🇬🇧 I demolish old banks and other big walk in safes and deal in old vault doors..I also get big safes and cut the safe in half then install the vault door and frame in the opening wer they want it..so they get a heavy safe door wer ever they want it installed
sounds like you’re doing it right to me. these are really designed for the homeowner they do an excellent job for what they are and they look fantastic. I am old-school also, miss the hands-on part immensely. Hats off to you and thanks for watching, John
Fantastic door! What’s one like the video one go for?

That one is about $8,000. Makes you wonder if a door alone cost that much why is the largest safe less than half? Sheet metal box vs an actual steel product. The " gun safe" market is a rip off. 90% of these 2,000+ dollar safes can be hacked into with a damn axe. And these bolt in vault doors are even a bigger joke. They dont tell you how the door frame and the front side should have steel inside the concrete.
@Conor Hanley typically, in my experience fools don’t have much money 🤷♂️✌️
Why go through the door when you can go around the door
Has anyone ever used one of your vault doors for a front door? I want to do this.
Not that I’ve heard of, it would certainly get noticed!
Thanks for watching, John
Looks like it has wide gaps on the sides of the door allowing a pry tool to be inserted. Is the vault all concrete or is it just framed in?
I wouldn't buy one that didn't have credit card gaps. Thats a lot of money to build to have gaps that wide..
Gorgeous door.
Ok why didn't they position the door right in front of the frame instead of doing the crow bar shuffle? bass ackwards. The room is only as secure as the ceiling and the room. Sides and floor.
+John Wayne Good question, same thing I was wondering.
Only thing I can figure is they just wanted to show us how to move the door in and out of the hole.
Thank you for the comment, John
This was my thought as well. Let people see it can be moved a distance, and let them see the crowbar trick long enough to mentally absorb it.
I would add one thing to the instructions; when finished, repurpose plywood and top crate into a nifty set of shelves 😊
Nothing went into the concrete? Doesn't seem much more secure than a front door from Lowes.
The clam-shell design works extremely well. That’s why most of the experienced vault manufactures used this technique. Thanks for watching, John
what band is the music in the background ?
Sorry my editor can't remember where we got the music from. John
Just curious why the door opens in rather than pull to open.
+Frank Biz Good question. They are available inswing and outswing. Inswing is very popular in the south in tornado and hurricane areas. Incase debri lands in front of the door you can open the door in and dig yourself out.
Thanks for watching, John
@@DeanSafe Makes a lot of sense, thank you!
Concealed hinges prevent angle grinder access
@@almontgomery4095 true, but when you have active or even inactive bolts on all sides it doesn't matter if the hinges are cut off you still can't open the door.
I have one im current trying to install it weighs 970lbs will this work for my door ?
+Bolt #
Should be fine, I’ve moved a few 8000lbs safes with a 5 ft Pry bars in the past.
Thanks for asking, John
@@DeanSafe ok cool i hope it works! Its a little intimidating

Yes it is so be careful you’ll need friends 👍 to help. I think you’ll do better than you realize. Please check back in and let us know how you did.

@@DeanSafe ill have a crew of 5 so i think we will do good. I really appreciate the feed back thanks -tyler
A sledge hammer, portable angle grinder and 15 minutes is the secret to bypassing the door and inviting yourself into the “safe” room!
Harder than you think, particularly if they put the armorx 500 in it.
@@DeanSafe if a man can build it a man can destroy it.
It’s much easier if the safe has no one guarding it. But most rich people if not a hire a security guard or two to keep an eye on the house so you’ll be sweating bullets if you try to break in during any day. Plus the safe or vault is inside of the house and that makes it nearly impossible to bypass. If a tornado, hurricane, and fire can’t do it neither can an army of 1 or 2 guys. Also if you try to take out the guards there might be a radio call, alarm or nearby backup etc…
No chance in hell you’ll make it out alive let alone to see your team go to the hospital for bullet wounds etc..
What am I missing. What stops someone from cutting the front trim off and cutting the 4 mounting bolts on each side?
What is the PVC pipe for?
Using PVC pipe is a great way to roll the box around to get it
close to the opening. Thanks for the question, John
What is the step ladder for? Short people😂
If I win the lottery I'm getting one designed into a concrete room like this
Me too😎

Maybe we'll see this safe craked by Lock Picking Lawyer. That doors gotta weigh around 300lbs.
I would say around 1200 ..
@@deplorableredneck4.02 No I actually bought one of these and they weight 800 pounds. It’s actually very heavy and believe or not the heaviest vault is in Fort Knox at a whopping 4,000 pounds and thickness of 15 inches or a foot and some change. That’s where they keep all the gold reserves. The place is very much impenetrable.
@@deplorableredneck4.02 In their website they have doors weighting as much as 1,600 pounds and the one you see in the video actually weights 845 pounds. Give or take its weight alone is enough to deter anyone.
For the love of God, stop it with the loud background music people.
Sorry Curtis, I should have turned it down a a bit more. Thanks for watching, John
@@DeanSafe lol no worries, it's just annoying music. Door is awesome by the way
@curtis Long use volume control..I have hearing aides I just turned down low
You never want wood in your safe/panic room. You want steel.
+Random Uploads some of the best bolts and panic rooms I’ve seen use a number of different materials including plywood re-barb, aggregate and ceramic particles imbedded in concrete steel etc.
Thanks for watching, John
There’s some wood that is fire resistant and even water resistant and for the most part that’s the darker brown wood and it’s very expensive. You’d want to use that kind of wood over any steel since it’s a lot better looking and it actually absorbs most shockwaves, earthquakes, and even if you don’t believe me most people will want that over steel, because you can drill holes in it easier and hang stuff etc….
I actually have a safe that has 4 inch thick steel on the outside and in the inside I added 3 inch thick expensive wood to add that man cave vibe and it actually looks nice and absorbs earthquakes pretty well and I’ve been through two earthquakes. I mean my stuff doesn’t fall at all and I’ve installed cameras inside to see how it performs and the whole place is very solid.
@@spartanalphamode2987 I believe you. I've seen some pretty bad ass safe houses down here in Florida. The coolest one I've ever seen was back home in Ohio about 10 years ago and he had wood. So I definitely believe you
I'll never understand why people would spend all this money on a safe or vault door setup which has a backup key option? What good is all that if someone can just pick the lock?
If you’re talking about key locks that can override the combination lock, You’re a hundred percent right I feel exactly the same way. Thankfully this Safe doesn’t have one, it does have a “key locking dial” that only keeps the dial from turning. I’ve seen many people misuse this feature on their gun safe. Most people with dial locks get nervous because it takes so long to open a safe with a dial so they will unlock the safe then put the dial on zero and turn the key. This will Freeze the lock in the unlocked position with a lock so easy to pick the post office won’t allow them on your mailbox. Maybe I should make a video on this. Such a great subject thank you so much for bringing it up, John
@@DeanSafe thank you for that answer. Clears up a lot of my concerns.
But will keep the wife out
It should, it kept my x-wife out for years. Thanks for watching, John
😅😅😅😅 "Fort Knox"??😅😅😅😅
Guys if you would like to see a real vault door...
Refer to VdS 13 level vault doors.
+Volker Leiste. In the past we tried to import a few of the VDS 13 vault doors, it didn’t work out very well for us. It’s just a different market. Thanks for watching, John
You guys sell these doors for the closet doors you can buy those at Cal ranch or other places they put these in they think it's safe you don't have to mess with the doors I stand a person just buy these doors like I said and put them in place of their standard door all you got to do is go to the drywall in the studs misleading if I was a thief which I'm not I seen that door in the closet I go to the wall drywall and studs simple easy cheesy it's misleading very misleading and your stuff's not even protected by fireproof when you can buy these doors and put them in just the doors Miss leading I would never buy one of these doors unless you have steel concrete or everything else wrapping in that area like a bank safe but people sell these doors by themselves you attach them like a regular door and think it's safe it is not
Please don’t confuse us with the general retail details all types of merchandise. We’ve specialized in Safes and Vault since the early 70s. We can and do educate the customer. But he is the one with the wallet and makes the final decisions on how burglary resistant and fire resistant walls are.
Why the heck would you put such an obvious GIANT LOGO on a door that you were trying to keep people away from? Makes no sense.
+stepitup
Most people do like the Fort Knox logo but that’s a decision made at the time of purchase along with the color, size, model, locks etc. etc.
