Great video man,
One of the best channels out there.
Always good to watch your videos.
Hey great video Brian! Can you do more videos like this for other techniques? Love the boujie gear reviews but this content is equally interesting as well
Love this video; I started using the Keitech Football Jig exclusively, but I now see that there are definitely better options. And like you said, you’ve placed a lot of time into this subject, so I’ll try out a couple of your recommendations…
Great video. The nishine and ow sniper has been my go-to smallie hard cover jig since august. I acually fish them on 7' 6'medlit victory with 10lb braid to leader. But my bait casters are cheaper rods
Another great video, full of great content and helps get it right, you do all the work and we reap the benefits, Now my hair pulling starts, what rod? want them all.. x bites already have gonna have to decide on the NRX+ 873ccr and the Dobyns 754 has me trending that way. But in any case keep up the great work.
Fantastic guide on finesse football jig fishing. Appreciate you sharing your years of expertise on this technique 👍🏼. I have a Dobyns Champion Extreme spinning rod (DX 764SF) that is pretty awesome for finesse jig fishing….it can fish many other techniques well too….the rod is rated from 1/4-1 oz (I don’t exceed 3/4 oz on it). I pair it with a 3000 series reel.
That OW sniper is 🔥🔥 I’m excited to try out the new baby dozer football that Beast Coast just released
Awesome stuff here! Shout out to beast coast for the code. Gonna have to grab some Nishine and sniper jigs for spring.
I love the riot baits tantrum. Works on any finesse jig but I especially love it on the zman midwest finesse swim jig and the tightrope firework jig
I've just gotten back into bass fishing, and I've really enjoyed learning new finesse techniques. The Neko has been my favorite so far.
Neko is a great technique up here for fishing deep grass.
Great video Brian, as usual. Thanks for the BC code - just added a whole bunch of Sniper jigs…
Right on! They definitely made a good product.
Like the breakdown and details on the technique.
Thanks for watching!
Love the Nishine jig. I am fishing smallmouth in Canada, gin clear water. Best trailer working for me is the Noike smoking dad 3inch. Hard to get in the US but worth a try. Did great in many bodies of water this year with it. Outfished all my other trailers.
Ohh, I'll have to give that one a whirl. Thanks for the recommendation.
I like you channel a lot, thank you for your input. Can you please do more deep wqter Ned rig videos.
Great info! Thanks!
Great video! Opens up my choices for jig fishing. Too focused on keitech football jigs and Seth feider’s jigs for me
It's easy to get stuck tossing the same jigs over and over.
Thanks for sharing!
I love football jigs I caught a 6lb bass on it last year with a strike king rage craw trailer
Just started the video, but I love the Keitech v2 tungsten finesse, Beast Coast OW Sniper, and Jigmasters football jigs. Zman is alright too. Salute.
Rod option that I've been using for these finesse footballs comparable to the Dobyns: St. Croix Max Marshall (dumb name), but it's a 7'5" MH fast. It's been a beast for both 3/8th and 1/2 ounce footballs.
Strike king rage chunk is a great one too
Keitech makes a crankin' jig. It has a triangle style head that is angled downwards. It comes across rocks really well and the paint job holds up quite a bit. It's just the wedge part that contacts with the bottom and seems to wear off. I put a 3.25 inch X-Zone Muscle-back craw on it, or a 3.8 inch keitech swimbait, and just draw it across the bottom and it's absolute money.
Never heard of this. I'll check it out.
The small reins ring craw has been the best finesse football jig trailer I’ve found. Works great on the keitech and the nishine
That one has been on my radar for a while. Just haven't bought any.
@@PunchFishing 100% give it a go. Awesome bait I’ve tried a lot of others and always come back to it. Lake Ontario smallies tear it up
I have a package of those bellows craws never used them on a jig yet. I chop off the claws and use them as panfish/crappie bait then use the body on a Ned rig 😂
Spot on with the Deps jig. Paint lasts one cast but I don’t think the small jaws care especially once you add some crawfish scent to the trailer. My favorite jig out in the market to this date, although that nishine jig is looking like it might end up on my checkout cart soon
You'll love it!
I use for line also the P Line 100% flouro, pretty good stuff too. Durable, strong, good knot strengh, handles well and doesn't wear out so fast. Good usage. My texas rig stuff I do like FC Sniper too especially in clear water. Still use some Invizex but gets memory faster. Tatsu maybe i had a bad batch but lot of breakage weak spots.
I haven't had any breaks on my Tatsu yet.
Just in time for next Omnia order.
Awesome video! Since Covid with the added fishing pressure, I’m finding myself downsizing more. You are spot on the 873CRR. Love that rod. Best jig rod made. I thought with you being a smallie guy, you might recommend a 2.8 Keitech Swing Impact. Ever tried that?
I have put a small Keitech on the back of the football jigs in this video. I just didn't include it in the trailer recommendations. I should have!
Where do I find the link to Beast Coast and the discount code? I like their stuff. Hustler jigs too.
@@rodneysmith4153 in the description on the video there's links and a code
Finally picked up an 873+ for a great price. What other baits/techniques do you like to use it for? Looking forward to your answers thanks again man!
I love the OSP Dolive Craw 3" but as all the OSP soft baits it isn't durable at all, maybe 3 fish and you have to throw it. I'm now trying the new 2".6 Deps MS Craw and the Evergreen Kicker Bug 3"
Awesome video! Thank you for your content. I am debating between the Super Destroyer or the X-Bites for finesse football jigs. Which rod would you recommend for this application? I would also like to throw chatter baits and Texas rigs on it as well. Please advise!
Definitely the Xbites over the SD for finesse football jigs. You'll want that extra casting distance.
I’ve never used that nishini before but have one that has a 3/4oz side is very interesting.
That size is new this year!
The Open Water Sniper jigs are actually a tungsten compound! I believe it's tungsten powder mixed with some kind of resin so they have great sensitivity and durability
I'll admit they don't "feel" any different than say, the Deps Headlock. However I do like that the color of the head holds true AND they are easier to acquire. The durability is legit.
You ever use spinning rods for FFs? Id like to think your Brigand would be good for lighter/shallower jig fishing
Question for you @PunchFishing, How small is the Zillion in hand compared to an Elite or CT model of a Tatula?
I like the strike king Ned craw for finesse football jig
A good suggestion!
Put the AGS Utility player up there for this, right in the wheelhouse for this application. make mine with rubber skirts, more live action while still...especially in colder water.
How would the xbites do for finesse football jigs? I know the bmg is more of the heavy jig dragging rod but since this is more of a finesse jig Id think the bmg is too heavy for the wire guage
Check out NorthStar Baits. Their finesse silicone/hair jig is amazing. I’ve caught some tanks on Dale Hollow! It has an exceptional light wire owner hook as well. They make a killer triple willow finesse spinnerbait that’s won me quite a bit of tournament money as well.
Desert Island scenario, 3/8-1/2oz football jig rod, Dobyns Xtasy 754, NRX+ Carolina, Megabass X-Bites? We fish similar waters. On Western New York, rock and weeds smallmouth and largemouth. I have watched all your videos and now I am torn on where I want to pull the trigger.
873c NRX+ for sure.
I want to start by saying thank you. I watch this video and decided to buy the Riot Baits Little Creeper with the x zone trailer. Went down to local body of water. I caught three bass 1.5-3.25lbs ALSO landed my PB Northern Pike, 43" 21 lbs. Hooked in the corner of his mouth. No idea how he did not bite the line. I have many pictures and also got in the local newspaper for the catch. I made true believer that these things work. And this was only 1 hour of fishing in 36° weather
That's a monster Pike! Congrats
@@PunchFishing thank you very much. Yes indeed my largest was 38 in and here I land a 43 on perhaps the smallest lure in my arsenal lol
Have u had a chance to fish any of the expride b rods yet? I'd like to get your take on if it's worth upgrading my expride a
I have not yet!
I've heard you talk about the Nishine jigs forever now and I've finally decided to try them out in my next Omnia order. Do you throw finesse football jigs for largemouth as often as smallmouth?
Of course! Anywhere you need to drag hard cover.
I'm that guy that messages omnia to please start carrying beast coast!!
Was surprised you didn't mention the X-Bites for this technique. That rod was made for this.
I used to use the X-bites for this, but I have like 3-4 rods that do it better.
What’s your go to color for the Beast Coast Sniper? I have had good success with the Stealth color in their Hustler jigs.
Dirtbag is the color I use the most.
Ever try the jewel baits Pee Wee football jig? They're great small jigs like these you're talking about. Around $2.65ea!
Awesome video good Sir . I live here on the TVA and my family has tied up the same 4-5 jigs for 35 yrs . My company's name is Tennessee Custom Tackle . I'd like for you to take a look at some . Where can I send you some to ?
Hey Josh! I'd love to check them out. Hit me up on instagram! @punchfishing
For primarily 1/2 jigs 15-25 ft in a lake known for trees, stumps and brush piles do you recommend the 873crr or 894c
873c!!
Your the best. Love vids, my wife not so much
I'm all about that bougie life wanting to eat lobster on a $$ menu budget. 🤣 have you ever reviewed or used the poison adrenas? Wondering how the 7'3" MH compares to the NRX+ 873 CRR..
I've not used any Posions on the water, just played with them in the store so I can't really give a great recommendation.
No p5 xbites recommendation for rods?
Xbites can definitely toss finesse football jigs. It's not my first choice however.
Only negative with BC is the bait keeper a two piece. Over time it will separate and not even super glue will help. Otherwise I'm a big fan of BC.
What weights and density of cover does the DRX754 work best for?
3/8 & 1/2 are right in the pocket for that rod, IMHO. It could go under 3/8 also.
@@PunchFishing thank you. I have been torn between wanting to try a Dobyn’s rod for bottom contact or the Expride 7’2” MH
do you like the Zman TRD Crawz?
They are good finesse jig trailers! They are really small.
How does the x-zone finesse craw taste when u bite it off?
Salty
😂😂@@PunchFishing
No more Steez BC2 for football jigs?
It's a great football jig rod! For dragging I really like it better for Carolina rig though. I usually have a football jig tied onto the 873c.
Please, when should I use a skirtLESS football jig for smallmouth? Maybe never?
I love the Bellows craw. I think it smells like Doritos
It's funny how everyone thinks they smell like something specific to them.
Is the Zillion better then the STEEZ?
I would say that it gives an equal level of refinement as the Steez, but it's cheaper and slightly smaller in-hand.
@@PunchFishing okay, thank you for that information I have been torn off which reel I should purchase next
You have found a Spool of BRAID x8 in ur mailbox?
YES! I got it in the mail! I was going to send you a message. Thanks so much! Any suggestions on what I should use the line for?
First i need your opinion about this braid
Bass Patrol makes a nice downsized football jig and the price is very affordable!
Good to know!
What happened to all that love for the X-Bites? Why are these others better?
Truthfully, the x-bites has been collecting dust all year.
Here is a little secret. dont know why but try a small keitech 2.8 or 3.3 as a trailer. Smallmouth cant leave it alone. again not sure why but do yourself a favor and try one day. it will make it into your rotation
I've slapped small easy shiners on, it's great. A spark shad works too. I forgot to put em in this video honestly.
Bellows Craw on a free rig is $$$.
WHAT???????? Did you sneak a DOBYNS Xtasy into a review after telling us all to stop asking you to review one ???? Dude, that's so covert, and now you have to do a review on the rod itself, preferably a spinning rod review. Very very very casual intro on how great the Xtasy rod is. 😲
I've posted about the Xtasy on my Instagram 😉 a full review is coming.
@@PunchFishing looking forward to it.
