Fun fact, I recorded this entire video with my three week old son on my lap. I was able to cut out most of the grunts and sounds but if you listen closely there's still a couple in here that I couldn't get out. Props if you can find them!
I'm just so tired of games/movies feeling the need to throw in jokes or have that "marvel" kind of structure. While I wouldn't want every game to be some gritty bowl of depression and provocative thought, it would be nice to have things take itself seriously sometimes.
That corny “he he we’ve got a hulk” type of writing makes me want to rip out my ears. Game developers need to understand they can be funny without appealing to children.
as someone whose never played a far cry game it’s getting kinda old watching reviews with so many focusing so much on its place in the franchise as a whole rather than how the actual game by itself.
The best thing about FC5 for me was the setting. I could get in a car & drive looking at the amazing mountain views. I hope this will be enjoyable like that
All of the antagonists in FC5 were also really good and I usually agree with Luke but he opinion on FC5 is pretty shit. Far cry has always done drugs and hallucinations better than any other game. FC5 drug sequences were not too out of touch honestly...
I find it strange when people say “I hate when games make me do side quests or objectives to progress” when sometimes it makes sense with the actual story. In this game for example, wouldn’t it be weird completing the whole game, taking down the tyrant and everyone lives happily ever after, but then the slave camps are still operating as if nothing happened?
I think people have gotten used to playing open world games that let you blitz through the story and then some form of “there’s still a lot of work to do to overthrow ____” happens and you basically have to actually fix the problem of the game. Like I loved Ghost of Tsushima but it felt weird that I “drove the Mongols out” just for the Mongols to still basically everywhere. I like actually accomplishing the goal of the character like you said
No one has a problem with side quests. It's a problem when they're repetitive as hell. I don't understand how people praise mediocrity so much these days. Ubisoft milks a formula until even the thoughtless drones get bored. There's good moments but overall it feels very rehashed. There are plenty of open world titles where side quests are part of the story but aren't entirely predictable.
I get the feeling Ubisoft has been experimenting with a netflix-algorithm-driven approach to their games, mixing up elements of their many IPs and basically blurring them together. Some day we'll see them put out something like "Rainbow Division's Creed Cry"!
A feeling that might become even more reality when you consider that they started to market every game with "A Ubisoft Original" somewhere in the title.
I'm so grateful that I found this channel. You're doing such an amazing job in bringing nuance to gaming discourse and really highlighting a studio's intent and their shortcomings in achieving the set goals. So thank you so much!
@Gary Higginson pretty much. Every one who doesn’t like this game say that it doesn’t change enough. Yet those same people want every far cry game to be far cry 3 like wtf 🤣
@@miragebarrage9748 I never saw anyone saying this game should be FC3...because it is, more that we should be getting something other than Far Cry 3 after 10 years and 6 games

I had the same thing with other sniper rifles too (with ap ammo), so it's most likely a bug. Sure there are some ammo types that doesn't kill an enemy with only one headshot, but for me the blood dragon sniper killed every enemy that I shot in the head.
I know its not very big brain of me to say this but I prefer Far Cry 4 to 3. I really like Pagan Min as a villian, the story is really wonky sometimes and the tone is all over the place BUT overall its wraps up really well, the gameplay is so much fun and the open world is as good as 3s if not better.
I 100% agree with you, story was literally the only thing 3 did better than 4, and while vaas was great, the fact that halfway through the the game he’s replaced with Hoyt who wasn’t half as compelling really drags the second half of the game. Pagan Min at least was a consistent presence throughout all of FC4, and because of that the second half of FC4 felt better than FC3s second half
4 is my favorite. Superior gameplay (better than 5 imo), Pagan is fuckimg awesome, and the world feels alive. It's got several problems but fuci yeah it's great
Anyone else completely floored by the fact that Luke is 24?! I’ve been listening/watching for years and always assumed he was around 30…not because of his looks but because of his maturity. I’m old enough to be his dad and he’s definitely more mature than I am 🤣

Oh yes! I’m always humbled by people who can do something better than by a magnitude but when they are as young as Luke, it restores my hope I. Humanity a bit. It’s a mystery to me how this man isn’t hired by major video game news outlet as an analyst and creative exec. At the very least I have been expecting him to blow up a long time ago!

I feel like we all loved far cry 3 because it was fresh at the time with an amazing open world and Vaus one best villains in gaming so after FC3 with FC4, FC Primal, 5, and new Dawn it felt like a retread of FC3 each time which wasn’t as potent anymore. So Far Cry 6 with a voiced character and 3rd person cutscenes, 60 FPS on Ps5, and going back to a tropical fun island setting with an amazing villain played by Gian Carlo is actually gonna make Far Cry 6 the best since 3 🤩!!!! Edit. I take back everything FC6 is garbage 🗑.
i dont see how this game makes any significant innovation or difference from the other games after 3. its the same formula, you can only do a boring bullet hell open world with a ton of outposts so many times before you burn out or it gets old.
@@lovescars in 3 you play as a football player who is stranded on an island and trying to save his friends from human trafficking and help them escape, in 6 you are a veteran who is trying to help overthrown a dictator and help save their country, not the same.
I can't stress how freaking cool it was the first time I was wondering around the map and Danny started to sing along the track. That completely won me over.
It's weird: This is pretty much everything the fans have been asking and... It's "okay". It's nothing special. This got me thinking what Far Cry really should be like? I think Far Cry is its best when it's built on top of a single theme and all of the game feeds into that theme. I kinda would like to see more bleak and oppressing Far Cry in the lines of Far Cry 2. These new games are just... "campy fun", I guess... Now that's not bad on its own right, but when 80% of AAA games are "campy fun" in their atmosphere and story, it's really not standing out.
@@ghostlegit lmao my man if you see Assassin’s Creed as the more meaningful of Ubisoft’s mega franchises than you couldn’t see a good storyline if it slapped you in your wack ass face.
I think Far Cry 2 is the epitome of what the series should be. And I know it’s too much to ask with modern AAA games, but fans of the series don’t give a shit about graphics. Imagine if they applied even half of the budget and manpower from the visuals to improving the actual quality and depth of the game. It could have potentially far surpassed every other game in the franchise and been one of the defining games of the PS5 generation instead of being forgotten a year from now.
You mentioned immersion breaking as someone got shot with a nail. Fun Fact, when getting stabbed or shot, or really in any situation that causes severe pain, people don't yell out - they lose their breath. If you kill someone within a few seconds (very difficult to do in real life) they can't make a sound, because they're busy inhaling, having had the breath knocked out them. Trust me on this, that's very lifelike.
I kinda wish that there was an expansion that continues the story of Dani. I really enjoyed the story, the gameplay and the music, good lord, the music in this game is good. Sure some of the characters feel completely out of place in this story, but truth be told, I didn't feel annoyed by it. I loved Philly and El Tigre characters though :)
The game held so much promise and I know I will love it. I try to relate to some reviews but then I notice that not everybody enjoyed Far Cry 5, AC Odyssey and Valhalla or even games like FO4 or Witcher 3 which are some of my fave! Regardless, I hope that you guys get what you are craving in the Far Cry and AC Franchises. We all deserve to get what we love in games and I appreciate the discussions that are available for us these days on RUclips!

@@TheHobbitFTW I'm not poor, I got one gaming pc for my daughter and one for my son and personally I don't like playing on pc. Ironic how they missed the point that Jason enjoying being a killing machine is actually his lowest point in Far Cry 3 Also how much they create quests based on drug abuse is concerning
why is that concerning exactly? it was interesting the first few times it happened in Far Cry, now it's just getting old & if memory serves FC6 didn't have the usual mandatory Ubisoft mind-trip sequence.
@@ghosttactician403 you mean the guy who transplants chemical weapons into Dani? if so, that served an actual narrative purpose, not very interesting nor original considering we've seen the exact same thing in basically every far cry game but, it does actually serve a purpose. id expect female danny to be better, since she was the one that got marketed more, not saying its bad just saying she's obviously the version the devs put more effort into
I don’t usually comment but I have to say this: I see people complaining about Ubisoft all the time, no matter what they do. I played some of their games and they completely blew my mind. The story is always exciting, side quests are amazing and entertaining. This game is no exception. Bought it as soon as it came out and I am very much enjoying it.
yeah, this games have their public... is more of the same, and we like it this way. Ok ubi does things repetitive but ffs, I dont always want innovation, at this point in the industry is hard to innovate and do well. Yes the series need a change but I will have fun with this, I know it. Ironically Ubi like to throw new Ips as well, Skill up said on the first minutes of his FC6 review.
Very good comment. It's also interesting to note that if you try to proactively point out that the games those same people like have very similar (to basically no difference in) base game mechanics to THEIR games/fav publishers, they get very uncomfortable and suddenly can't explain to you why they don't like Ubisoft! 🤣
Word. Lots of hate for a studio that cranks out games I routinely put hundreds of hours into. Seems like if it's not dark souls then internet denizens just can't seem to like it. They need to get off the gitgud tip and be a bit more objective. Also, yes ubi upper management sucks butt but so do many other companies and nerds still buy their shit. So....
It’s typically their excessive padding and predatory micro transactions that annoy most people. I can’t resist sinking way more money than it’s worth into the helix store, for example. Impulse buys are my weakness, but the games at 60 dollars with a season pass alone are worth the money for the value. Cosmetics/mounts/Xp and gold boosters/buyable mythical weapons etc and shady practices are what make them the real money.
God I am so glad i found someone who thinks this too. I think what you said applies the most to the AC franchise. When unity came out, everyone kept bashing it for being so repetitive, boring, shitty story etc., but now that Valhalla and Odyssey came out, people are begging for AC to be more "Assassin's creed" like. People keep saying Ubisoft sucks, but i think their audience is the one tht actually sucks
0:20 I think that far cry 5 came close. The villain wasn’t overly ridiculous just for the sake of ridiculousness like in 4, but was actually fucking unnerving and scary
Wtf is he talking about "stealth was an afterthought in Farcry 5"? That game was 80% stealth its far crys main mechanic besides shooting and moving around!
What are you even talking about? The made takedowns suck, added the clubs and spears melee system from primal, and you have fucking attack helicopter buddies. Stealth is an option, NOT the main mechanic and a barely valid one later when compared to the sheer explosive potential you have.
I thought Far Cry 5 was unvoiced because they decided late on to allow the player character to be a man or woman and didn't want to record lines twice.
I hate when game reviewers project their own way of gaming on a whole video game. I for one found far cry 5 to have great stealth mechanics and used stealth a lot.
everyone in camp automatically knowing where you are after the 1st silent kill or body found is broken stealth in any game. they fixed that in this one.
As someone who was never a big fan of far cry, or fpp shooter in general but nonetheless played 5 previous games this one blew me away, i've got it thursday and i can't stop playing everything from the story, to the characters to the game mechanics is amazing and in my opinion this one is the best far cry game of them all. I feel like they took the best aspects of each game and put them into one. The DualSense Controller probably plays a big part in my experience since it really helps you immerse in the game.
Far cry 2 was/is my ultimate favorite installment, even still to this day. Its dirty, rusty, realistic, primal, and unforgiving. The world feels like it was smothered with hopelessness, the breaking guns, malaria, constant checkpoints that always repopulate, and the way the healing animation works are all contributors among many more. This is what made you PUSH through the world, to feel that these people REALLY need help and you will die for them. Farcry 2 was DARK, 6 is not, I loved the beginning of 6, it was giving me hope for a more grounded experience and then we reach the base camp and proceed to "rescue" an old gorilla legend who acts like a comedian (kind of like the whole experience especially all your "allies" you work with later), he then gives us a magical backpack . . . . Yeah. . . . .Ok enough ranting, great video though. Cheers.
All the characters were trash. I have no idea how people like that can actually win a revolution against a dictator and his bloodthirsty technologically superior army.
@Jef Costello history teaches us about many revolutions or civil wars won by the little guys. So that doesnt really break the immersion for me. That stupid rocket launching backpack broke it for me.
I feel you on this completely. Great way to put it. Exactly how I feel. I will wait until it's on discount and play it when I'm bored with everything else coming out.

To the point at the 35:00 mark. AC Origins and Odyssey did this too, I think Valhalla did it too, but not sure about the last one. If you had already cleared a camp or was supposed to kill a certain NPC, if you by accident killed that person or cleared that camp. Bayek/Kassanadra would mention that and you'd "finish" that quest.
Actually quite surprised on your take with this one Luke, especially since I generally line up pretty well with the type of games you like and the one's you don't (Then again on second thought FC2 is my favorite Far Cry so we probably differ quite a bit regarding this series in particular). I didn't mind FC3 and loved Blood Dragon but ever since then the series has just stagnated and gotten worse with every release imo. Felt like FC6 was very uninspired, shallow and essentially just a carbon copy of 3 with horses minus the fun. The characters were all bland and uninteresting, story goes nowhere and even Giancarlo Esposito sadly couldn't even save this one for me. Glad you enjoyed it and managed to get something out of it, just not my cup of tea I guess.
I disliked the heavier RPG elements in 6 and the weird junkyard weapon design. Both of which were in new dawn, probably my least favorite farcry. Also the setting kinda felt boring. Why another tropical island again? It does look beautiful though.
Saw the intro and the game definitely piqued my interest. As long as it’s better than the game design of assassins creed Valhalla and provides a more personal story unlike watch dogs legion (which I love because of the mechanics and setup) I might pick up this game.

I think the most "viable" weapons are the ones that fit your playstle. I use a silenced sniper with armor piercing to take out alarms and priority targets from a distance before running in with a shotgun. I use a full set of traversal armor and the supremo that gives me an air dash to maximise my mobility with the shotgun. I then also carry an explosive lmg for vehicles and otherwise sticky situations.
i went through 80% of the game with a silenced, scoped pistol and the shoes that speed up your crouch speed. just sneaking around and headshotting all the time
I wish games would go all-in on having a game set somewhere with a different language. It’s like when there’s a Hispanic newscaster speaking like a completely normal person 99% of the time until the word ‘Mexico’ or something comes up in a sentence and they use the thickest, most stereotypical accent possible to say it. It just feels off when everyone talks. Like the game is set in a Texas or Florida metro area, not Cuba. I miss when AAA were allowed to take risks.
@@ExtremelyOnlineGuy how’s it going man? And it just depends. It can turn out well like in the case of Deathloop that (kinda) implemented roguelike elements or Death Stranding. Or it can turn out disastrous like in the case of notoriously bad games like (launch day) No Man’s Sky or Jurassic Park: Trespasser. Ambition needs time, manpower, and a budget to back it up otherwise it’s just a bad game with interesting ideas. And then there’s cases where they have all of those things as well as ambition and you still get Cyberpunk 2077. Oddly enough however the most recent and refreshing (in terms of innovation) games I’ve played are hotline miami 1 & 2, katana zero and VR chat, the latter I can’t really even call a game. And the former two are literally modern versions of games made with tech from 1987. I just miss the days of playing amazing games and not feeling ripped off 10 minutes in.
On PS4, Far Cry 5 and 6 are pretty much identical games. Even little things like outpost alarm machine's design and revival animation were recycled. The deja vu was jarring... Rarely have I seen such a lazy AAA game.
This is good to hear, my copy just arrived. I've heard way too many people being pessimistic about this game. It looks like 20 hours of mindless fun, which given the absolute state of game releases in the last 18 months is no bad thing. I hope the next installment is a proper rethink of the series though. I think the formula has been pushed as far as it can.
I agree, Far Cry 6 is the most refined the formula has ever reached and I genuinely don't think they can take it any further at this point. Fortunately, Jason Schreier has reported that Far Cry 7 will be a big departure in some way, so I guess we can wait and see what that shake up is going to look like.
There's nothing wrong with that sentiment. It's just that 20 hours of mindless fun in an Open World game (that's, arguably, supposed to offer more) isn't worth 60-70$. For most people, at least.
Just got it today, a few hours ago. Can't wait to play after school tomorrow! Edit. The game overthrew my expectations. Sure its not perfect. Sure its whacky. Its Ubisoft. But the beginning and the gameplay so far. Wow. I havnt had so much fun for a while
As big as an ocean and as shallow as a puddle. That perfectly describes this game as well as all of the games Ubisoft has released over the past several years.
Anyone else been noticing a fairly egregious amount of screen tearing and frame rate drops? ( especially in cutscenes) Not sure if it’s something they’re likely to patch out but hopefully they do though because the gameplay apart from that is pretty great, besides the ai that’s dull as a bag of rocks and the never ending enemy spawns
This looks like the type of game that's fun exploring the map for a few hours doing side quests but then it gets boring and you start rushing the story to get it over with, just like all Ubisoft open world shite.

This looks pretty refreshing. Farcry 4 honestly really turned me off to the franchise. Whether they like it or not, having a weird romance with compelling villains are a large part of the farcry vibe. And you dont get more menacingly charming than gus fring
In regards to attention to detail, while taking a phone call from a character nearby I decided to go and walk up to then, only to see the character I was talking to had actually pulled out their phone that they were talking into. I fully expected to see them standing there as if they weren't currently talking to me. Good little detail there.
I consider this to be the worst Far Cry game ever. I bought the game for 20 bucks, played it for 2 hours, perhaps 3, and felt so disgusted, that I uninstalled it and never looked at it again. It is a game for little teenage boys. A pet aligator? Really? Doing missions wiith a rooster as a companion? Really? They can drop dead as far as I am concerned.
Nothing says fun video _game_ like Hollywood-level acting and well-directed cutscenes 🙄 I’m starting to feel like every new AAA game that comes out is just something that tried and failed to get picked up as a tv series

@@TheBasedBalkan FC2 had NPC reactions for shot locations. I think Ubisoft flushed a lot of their developers who knew what they were doing when FC2 didn't sell well.
Far cry has never been about realism.... first two minutes in and you've already misinterpreted the series :Edit I've played farcry since before ubisoft had the rights and you was a mutant running through tropics punching grunts 20-30 ft away
the reason Far Cry became successful was because of the grounded realism Far Cry 2 established & got the franchise mainstream from FC3 onwards. Far Cry 2 was made from the overwhelming opinion that the first half of FC1 where you were using bare minimum resources on an island trying to survive was MUCH more unique & memorable than the later half's mutation portion. Ubisoft listened and made the best game in the franchise imo after that. FC2 dropped with overwhelming positivity but had complaints about a few things that majority of casual fans did not like (malaria, weapon jamming, limited fast travel, respawning outposts, etc.) Ubisoft has constantly adapted the franchise to cater towards the mainstream public & broader audience. And although I will play FC2 another 100x before I restart FC3-5, I'll admit that the franchise has ultimately been through multiple interpretations. Although the latest from Ubisoft has not been about realism, I'd argue that the foundation of Far Cry was built on immersion & realism.
I wish Far Cry would try a linear level structure for once and ditch the open world, maybe in a spinoff, with more concentrated setpieces I think it could be a lot more memorable than 40 hour game with only a couple of highlight story missions
I agree Ubisoft should do something like that, but they should not brand it Far Cry. It would be too big of a betrayal of the brand, so people wouldn't receive it too well.
No, for gods sake. Thats the only thing why I love Ubisoft games the most! The freedom of gameplay and your decision making. If they start doing missions like fucking Rockstar where you cant do shit thats not scripted by developers and give you instantly mission failed it would pissed me the fuck off. Every camp you have to clear is a mission in itself and you can approach it how ever you wants and thats what makes these games unique. Hell my favourite games in recent years are all Ubisoft games: Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Wildlands and Watch Dogs 2 and Legion, Valhalla and Odyssey. I am going to buy this Far Cry 6 in a few minutes but so far my fav Far Cry was 5, New Dawn and enjoyed Primal the most :D just because it was so unique.
@@lorkieborkie2537 I dont recall 4's truck sequence, but 3's weed is not scripted I think (i havent played it a long time) - but there is a field in a camp and you have to destroy it. (If the game forces you to use the flamethrower in that case it is scripted but still you have molotovs and there were barrels around more things how to approach but I am not sure) Himalayas were just linear not scripted iirc - if you got cought you still can shoot them all there are no failuires for you fuck up unlike in every single rockstar game. Probably my definition of scripted mission design is different for each of us. For me scripted is if you do this shit any other way than we demand, you fail. That is scripted for me. As I said you may be right I cannot recall the older games because my Favourites are almost always the new games because of the gameplay.
@@budlikycz2445 scripted i.e. being manually crafted, with unique objectives/location, it's own soundtrack etc. I agree that Rockstar's missions suck. Generally my main issue with 90% of regural far cry compounds is that they're pretty much copypasted, way too short and small before the gunplay can shine and before anything cool can happen and I think the open world stucture is a major restricting factor. I'd like to see maybe a Crysis-esque approach with big open ended levels but with linear progression.
I think what really sets FC6 apart is how good the combat mechanics are. I love the map and the graphics, but as good as they are, you can start playing FC6 with default settings and it's buttery smooth, very satisfying.... I had been playing Cyberpunk 2077 before FC6 and in that game, like eveyrone else, I had to spend the first 3 hours tweaking the settings just to find sensitivities that kind of worked for me. I'm still furious about that to be honest, really compromised my enjoyment of 2077. But FC6 is PERFECT right out of the box. And on Series X it's beautiful.
@@zeusymoosey3348 you ever notice in action mode no matter how far you run from the enemy they literally CAN NOT MISS. I know I can just do the stealth thing but sometimes you just want to go loud.
I do love this game but I can't stand the all or nothing mentally of the combat. You either kill every guard in an area undetected, without making a sound or having ANY bodies or you fire one loud shot face an endless supply of reinforcements, helicopters and exhaust all your ammo.
I personally cannot get into Far Cry anymore. In FC2 you were a professional mercenary, this makes sense as to why you are a one man army in a conflict of unproffesional militarized forces mixed with other mercenaries. But you still felt exteremely vulnerable. That you were a better shot, faster, smarter, and more tactical, but only just barely enough to win. It was a deperate struggle to survive in a still beautiful country that is embroiled in a very dark and destructive civil war. The only reason you do something good and maybe redemptive in the final act is because your character is basically a dead man minutes after the game starts. Otherwise, your character is no good guy, they are only part of a problem that has no viable solution. In FC3 and beyond you are basically a college kid that becomes a literal walking god who is untouchable. You get to single handedly fix the problems of a foriegn people (literally the white saviour trope) with no consequences to your actions (besides oh no your girlfriend killed you after you slaughtered everyone you worked all game to save, yeah fuck right off with that shit). And youre fighting a villain who is so comically evil it just deflates any tension in the story. Essentially weve gone from drama that depicts the horrors of war to a Young Adult novel about 'finding your true self'. Honestly i just dont give a fuck anymore, and the series is quite literally a far cry from what it could have been. Tl;dr: Far Cry 6 is most certainly not `the best of the series` and the fact that FC2 doesnt even get a mention is a tragedy.
Just picked this up on PC. It’s really a beautiful game with maxed settings. I haven’t gotten invested into Far Cry since 3 so here’s hoping this one will do it for me 🤞🏻
Love the game so far but I prefer the far cry 3 weapon attachment system and general weapon upgrades. Also far cry 3 had a more somber and realistic tone which I prefer to the rest of the game in the series. Finally my main gripe is the different ammo types!! If I have an armor piercing LMG fully decked out I should be able to basically shoot through walls and destroy vehicles
I get that the silent protagonist doesn't work for everyone, but disagree it limits quality of interaction with NPCs. Far Cry 2 had a silent protagonist but never suffered from this. The main reason Far Cry 5 did was ubisoft's insistence on hand holding, which ruins immersion far more effectively than whether the protagonist speaks to NPCs or not. At least now they allow us to customise the HUD, which allows those of us who still believe Far Cry 2 is the best in the series to experience the game without constantly being reminded we're playing a game
story, acting, everything non-gameplay is the best it's been in far cry series gameplay? it's a dumpster fire. They downgraded so many elements of what made Far Cry fun. It's saddening.
My worst criticism so far: hair glitch, my hair clips in and out and goes between being bald and normal. It’s not game breaking but it definitely breaks immersion. It happened after I tried to hide a helmet after equipping it. I don’t see an option to unequip any helmet and there doesn’t seem to be any bug fix. Edit: grammar
Far cry 2 was always my favorite because of how gritty and grounded it is. Its not funny at all and there are no wacky zany characters. Everything happening is being taken seriously and no one is joking about it. Even the gamplay is serious, guns jam and break at some of the most inconvenient times like when you're completely surrounded, you are sick and have to manage your medication to keep you from dying of malaria and your buddies can die if you are careless. This game looks a lil better than the last couple but I don't think it'll ever be like far cry 2
far cry 2 remains the most immersive FC to date. some mechanics are outdated and won't work today, but the general tone and direction was something i wish we could go back to....
I agree that FC2 is the best of the series, but im not sure we can ever return to it. The setting and the grounding make it very slow paced, which dont get me wrong is great and why i love it. But im not sure modern far cry players would enjoy the much slower and more precarious gameplay. I feel like the story concept of you being a true mercenary in a conflict where there are no good guys, well except for the powerless church people, wouldnt jive with modern audiences (but oh man can we talk about the heart of darkness alternate quest where you fight all of your former buddies). My one big point being that in FC 2 if you wanted to take an oupost it required planning and preperation. Scout out potential snipers, figure out how you could assault a base without exposing yourself too much. Make sure your guns and equipment are up to it, and maybe make sure your buddy is ready to save you if you go down, and knowing that you put your favorite buddy in harms way doing so. Ever since FC3 its become more and more take a once over with your camera to spot all the enemies, then run in stabbing your way or go guns blazing in a rampage while your animal friend you telapathically command does to, no concern of permadeath around. @@TribuneAquila you described it very well. i also loved the ability to choose the time of day you wanted to do a mission by sleeping in any one of the little houses. since fast travel was limited, a lot of the missions/jobs felt like an actual journey you had to plan out, especially when driving on the main roads was too risky. i don’t see why ubisoft couldn’t make a hardcore mode where you can’t tag enemies, ammo is scarce, and “stealth” kills are much harder to pull off.
The only bug that I had was the infinite fall death game loop. Where even when you click reload autosave it puts you where you still fall to your death. The only way I got out of it was by inviting someone into my game to revive me and then fast traveled to one of the bases to get a new autosave.
Who doesn't love some trigger happy fun & toppling an evil dictator...until you realise he's a lot more than just a token bad guy & these 'revolutionaries' you are supporting could be as bad as him. I feel the game was built with the male version as the canonically accurate version. If you play through the full game you'll start to pick up on how the male version sounds and looks better in several scenes, the female version winds up having lip sync that is not on que and she winds up having a much larger head, it was really weird but with a skeleton size body and a balloon size head it became very strange to look at.

What I like most about FC6 honestly, is the map. I've wanted a tropical island setting for the longest time now.
I think the main issue is they're no longer side quests if you're forced to do them to proceed lol

He got so bad he went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the Feds decided that best idea was to get rid of him so they set up a special room to kill him, as inhumane as possible. And he sat there in agony for hours until he died. Now every week on the day of his death he returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00 a.m. He creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by pegging you and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other profiles on this one site, and he will haunt someone else who doesn't.

It’s typically their excessive padding and predatory micro transactions that annoy most people. I can’t resist sinking way more money than it’s worth into the helix store, for example. Farcry 2 was DARK, 6 is not, I loved the beginning of 6, it was giving me hope for a more grounded experience and then we reach the base camp and proceed to "rescue" an old gorilla legend who acts like a comedian (kind of like the whole experience especially all your "allies" you work with later), he then gives us a magical backpack . . . . And it just depends. It can turn out well like in the case of Deathloop that (kinda) implemented roguelike elements or Death Stranding. Ambition needs time, manpower, and a budget to back it up otherwise it’s just a bad game with interesting ideas. And then there’s cases where they have all of those things as well as ambition and you still get Cyberpunk 2077. This is good to hear, my copy just arrived. I've heard way too many people being pessimistic about this game. It looks like 20 hours of mindless fun, which given the absolute state of game releases in the last 18 months is no bad thing. I hope the next installment is a proper rethink of the series though.

@@TheBasedBalkan FC2 had NPC reactions for shot locations. I think Ubisoft flushed a lot of their developers who knew what they were doing when FC2 didn't sell well.
Far cry has never been about realism.... first two minutes in and you've already misinterpreted the series
:Edit I've played farcry since before ubisoft had the rights and you was a mutant running through tropics punching grunts 20-30 ft away
I know how ridiculous the first far cry was
the reason Far Cry became successful was because of the grounded realism Far Cry 2 established & got the franchise mainstream from FC3 onwards.
Far Cry 2 was made from the overwhelming opinion that the first half of FC1 where you were using bare minimum resources on an island trying to survive was MUCH more unique & memorable than the later half's mutation portion.
Ubisoft listened and made the best game in the franchise imo after that. FC2 dropped with overwhelming positivity but had complaints about a few things that majority of casual fans did not like (malaria, weapon jamming, limited fast travel, respawning outposts, etc.)
Ubisoft has constantly adapted the franchise to cater towards the mainstream public & broader audience. And although I will play FC2 another 100x before I restart FC3-5, I'll admit that the franchise has ultimately been through multiple interpretations. Although the latest from Ubisoft has not been about realism, I'd argue that the foundation of Far Cry was built on immersion & realism.
Blah, blah, blah.
@@budlikycz2445 best missions have always been the scripted ones. 3's weed field, 4's truck sequence and himalayas...

Huh?
story, acting, everything non-gameplay is the best it's been in far cry series
gameplay? it's a dumpster fire.
In FC2 you were a professional mercenary, this makes sense as to why you are a one man army in a conflict of unproffesional militarized forces mixed with other mercenaries.

If you play through the full game you'll start to pick up on how the male version sounds and looks better in several scenes, the female version winds up having lip sync that is not on que and she winds up having a much larger head, it was really weird but with a skeleton size body and a balloon size head it became very strange to look at.
Who plays far cry for the story?
As long as I can be John Rambo - I'm happy!
But this FC just isn't up to the usual FC standard at all. Must be because of Covid.
I’ve never played a far cry game but you’ve convinced me to give this one a try.
After playing Valhalla for a million hours which feels like a giant check list I’m very skeptical of trying anything Ubisoft puts out anymore but I trust your judgement seeing as how I agreed with everything you said about Valhalla.
What's up with that sniper rifle having a magnetized magazine?
It's from far cry blood dragon
The “he see what I did there” then the black screen was genius my stoner ass almost died laughing. Great review and editing. You have a subscription good sir from me 😂
