@@thecomedian5933 That’s not true at all armour piercing rounds regardless of the enemy will always one shot kill them unless you get unlucky. @@ronan8834 Game developers follow money. Fans demand rehashes. Developers vomit out rehashes. Otherwise bankrupcies can happen.
Still can't believe they took out the skill system. Was expecting them to expand on it greatly. Not flat out remove it and replace it with the gear crap
@@rosdos100 I just started playing Far Cry 5 for the first time not too long ago after replaying 3 and 4 and the only thing I don't like is how they removed the really cool looking knife takedowns, the ability to move a corpse after the knife takedown by moving back and finding an area where enemies won't find the person you killed, and the mute protagonist compared to the last two games.
@@SerpentSupremacy I agree the knife takedowns were cool but i think they made it a point the protagonist is LE so that would be wild but considering the situation shouldn't be. I just wished they would've switched the Deputy and the Marshal's titles because it would've made sense for you to be an outsider in that place.
I have Far Cry 2, 3, 4, 5 and Primal installed on my PC right now. But this SJW cringe fest will not take up any space on my two SSD's. Forgot Blood Dragon, I have it installed.
I stopped giving a damn about the series when it became evident with FC4 that Ubisoft is gonna give it the Assassins Creed treatment. The only thing that might peak my interest at this point would be a remaster of the second game
The game just feels like another Far Cry game, trying nothing really new and recycling the old stuff while also taking out mechanics and progression that felt rewarding.
@Freesmart We don't. I probably will never buy a new far cry ever again. We just want our franchise back. Instead of having this wannabe of just cause, and other games. We want it to have the old far cry identity, instead of this new one. Far cry was more then just some villian on an island somewhere. Now the only reason you know a far cry game is a far cry game is because you have the exact same stuff as previous entries. So what is the problem then? The way they bring it all together changes the game drastically. It is like they don't understand what made far cry far cry to begin with. What's worse it seems they don't care. I hope you could at least understand why we want something we love back. Especially when it can still go places. I played 5, and it isn't far cry. Why even have it. It feels like it was meant as a multi-player game to begin with, and not single player. It doesn't even do that well, and ends up being mediocre all around. Why bother making it like that? Instead they should have just made it an offshoot of the franchise, so that they could just more heavily focus on the crazy shit.
I start off loving these games,, but soon get bored. I think if they cut out a lot of the fluff, made it a bit bit more dark and gritty, they would be much better
Far Cry 2 and 3 will always be the absolute best for me. 2 is unique, nails the aesthetic of a civil war and 3 created the perfect blend for the formula of story telling and action, each release after that just feels like a 3 remake and the creativity just sort of runs dry
Far Cry 3 also had a powerful message, it explores what happens to a human being stripped down to its basic animal instincts, much like Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket
Far Cry 2 perfectly portrayed the cynical use of ideologies for your own gain, the illusion of choice (US two-party system, one of the characters even quoted US politician directly). The only good characters are the journalist (symbol of following the truth at all costs and staying in touch with reality), the underground (humanitarianism) and Jackal who frequently quoted Friedrich Nietzsche (symbol of how moral nihilism is more intellectually honest - truthful - than ideological hypocrisy). You feel alienated throughout the whole game, and The Truth is your only friend in the end. You'd like to think that staying loyal to an ideology is a good thing, but that's a far cry from reality. You know that the writing is good when you can use the title itself when interpreting the story.
That's the thing about Ubi sandbox games: their refusal to commit to either stealth or action seriously hurts their game design. Their broad play to please everyone always ends up pleasing no one.
Yeah, to dedicate a sandbox game to the concept of one or the other would hurt the game more. It's their lack of expansion and decisiveness on what they'd like to convey through their stories.
@@kingsleycy3450 well doom is just a bad game to work with stealth. How about Sekiro, Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima. You dont have to focus on just 1.
the reason there is no skill system and those things are tied to armor pieces ( which are no permanent upgrades ) is that it is ubisoft. permanent upgrades can only be sold once in the microtransaction shop.... clothes on the other hand...
My thoughts exactly. Very dissapointing to see skill points taken out. Grinding for skill points is a huge part of what made FC5 so good. I think we can all see the series' in-game progression getting more and more convoluted to allow for microtransactions.
Bingo. It's the main reason these games are joining the "RPG/Looter" crowd. Just so they can sell you more shit. It's borderline evil and is making me real fucking cynical.
if they wanted to have it be a personal story, they shouldve had us play as a grown up diego fighting for the revolution and have all the anton scenes be flashbacks
Big agree. I prefer Diego to literally any other character in this game. El Tigre and Anton himself being the only exceptions. He's a great character with the best story and a huge missed opportunity. I bet ubisoft will save him for game 2 far cries from now.
Ehh don't know how I feel about a far cry game that uses rng loots to make the player stronger rather than skills. I think adding skills adds more replayability and creativity in each playthrough.
They would need to seriously bump up the difficulty for that to happen. Currently the enemies don't have much recourse once the player finds a grenade launcher.
I like the aesthetic, but I really hate how every game needs enemy healthbars and levels now. If it's not an MMORPG or MMOFPS, the game should just let you shoot guns at enemies without having to worry about HP. This is what made Far Cry 2 feel so gritty and heavy. Gunplay felt realistic, enemies reacted to you shooting them, bullets felt like bullets and less like polite suggestions for the enemies to lower their health a bit, enemies would drag comrades into cover if they got shot and got incapacitated. Idunno, it just felt a lot more real. Edit: My dummy dumb dumb brain meant Far Cry 2, not Far Cry 3.
The health bars are optional you can just turn them off and you can kill the guys like you normally do on other far cry its not like new dawn you can still stealth kill and headshot if you want
I'm over it. I'm not invested in this in any way. I could literally fire up any of the previous Far Cry games and have the same Far Cry experience that is on dispay here. I appreciate your detailed review though and have to agree, this series needs to really shake things up if they are even remotely into the idea of a FC7.
Apparently, Jason Schreier already knows what Far Cry 7 is going to be and said something along the lines of "it's going to be a big departure from what we currently have".
I think it's pretty good dude which I gotta say they added in some assassin's creed climbing mechanics where you can practically shimmy across ledges and get into postion to do a ledge takedown on guards which overall for me this far cry is actually really refreshing plus they brought back Boomer from far cry 5 which was a surprise to me man but I can't wait to play the DLCs for the 3 main villains

Spot on about the weapons. As soon as i got on the main island i went to the arsenal menu and found a "unique" m4 gun that was on the docks in the main city. I used that entire gun through the rest of my play through since it was a silenced gun with armor piercing ammo and it was a 1 shot kill to any enemy for the rest of the game.
That's kinda the problem because It makes you not wanna use the other guns because the best gun can beat them all so what's the point ? I found a balance in older games where the weaker guns have more ammo so it's good for killing some enemies and the stronger weapons have almost no ammo and you have to refill in other places like safe houses but incredibly strong for so many uses
At least just cause 3 seemed more fun. Destructible environment, creative use of all your tools, mediocre side activities, amazingly different enemy outpost/fortresses.

with the constantly jamming ak47? a gun known for absolute reliability in worst conditions? lel and the long boring travels were dumb aswell. the most effective way to clear enemy bases was to lay a fire and just wait because the ai didnt run from fire and just happily burned to death. yeah masterpiece
One thing that stressed me out a lot with this game is the coop friendship circle of doom. Having to stay within a certain radius of each other. Its legit smaller than most of the bases, feels like you're joined at the hip. Takes away so many sandboxy options, you can't approach from different angles, cant have one person being overwatch with a sniper or providing air support with a plane. Not without being within 200 meters of each other, which feels tiny. Can't have one person go find a vehicle and the other work crowd control in bad situations, or persue an objective if the other is pinned down. The game just doesn't feel like its been designed very well for coop, feels more like a lazy addition they implemented at the end. That mixed with the weird rpg elements like enemies having health bars, levels and being bullet sponges really killed our excitement for it within a few hours. :(
What’s funny is this is the same company that made Ghost Recon Wildlands, where you could go as far as you wanted on a insanely large map. That game was actually great for a coop experience. Story was decent enough you keep you going through it and gameplay was fun. I played coop with my friend and we had a great time with Wildlands but pretty much hated Far Cry 6.
I wonder if they updated it as I normally complain about this stuff but I can remember saying to my buddy that its nice that you can actually create some breathing room between you both. I thought it was a respectable radius.

I played Far Cry 5's new game Plus Infamous Difficulty. And I completed 3/4 of the game (Jacob>Faith>And then alittle of John) without the Detection Meter. I really wish they'd catch the hints and blend the elements back in that made Farcry 2 and 3 so good. FC2 was a lot more hardcore with its navigation, and vehicles were often a valuable resource in certain areas that could cause problems if you lost it- plus the exploration and open-world factor of FC2 was pretty good, they didn't hold your hand and you could progress the story at your own pace and your choices mattered somewhat- that being said, it was still flawed in some respects, but I will hold a special place for FC2. Speaking of FC3, although some might not agree, it was a lot of fun hunting particularly dangerous animals and having to get creative so you could upgrade your stuff. If they could blend some of the (well done) hardcore aspects of FC2 with some of the progression system of FC3, that'd probably make for an above-decent Farcry game. Regardless, it just seems like they're grasping at straws with how to spice up their game and are just throwing new stuff in without much thought to try and draw new people in. If they make an FC7, it's gonna have to be radically different in a lot of areas to hold my attention... the outposts system is so outdated and boring, it would be really cool if they would update this most of all as it's one of the more sorely boring parts of the FC series since FC3.
The story man. Political critique of two-party systems, the illusion of choice, ideological hypocrisy, selfless vs. selfish altruism, intellectual honesty and truthfulness behind moral nihilism. Far Cry 2 was made in times when corporate psychopaths weren't aware that their employees were trashing on them covertly via story telling. They hire dumb storywriters these days to keep people asleep, most people don't know how to interpret stories anyway.
'It's an Ubisoft game' - My thorough and in depth Far Cry 6 review. Honestly though, The setting of 6 is a huge boon for me. Never expected anything more then a paint by numbers Far Cry game, which equates to good, dumb fun for me personally, but being a fan of the whole 'banana republic' setting in games like Just Cause and Tropico.adds just enough of an edge for me to keep me keen on this one.
I agree. I never thought the far cry games were particularly ground breaking (certainly not in story, although 3 was pretty good), I’ve always enjoyed far cry games for the fun, mindless action. Yeah, it would of course be nice if they actually polished things more and made more compelling stories, but I’ve grown to look at far cry games as games about having fun with the different vehicles and guns and not so much about caring about the story.

Remember in far cry 2 when you get betrayed by whatever faction you’re working for at the time, and you fall off a truck filled with corpses on its way to a mass grave? Why can’t we just have serious, gritty, and gripping stories in far cry games anymore?
A damn shame the devs didn't bring back the rusting mechanic from FC2 for this game, with improvements taken from similar mechanics in Metro Exodus and RDR2. I will say, the MP40 is an odd choice for the setting, the Thompson and Grease Gun are more appropriate (hell, it would have been cool if the San Cristobal Carbine was among the game's weapons).
The rusting mechanics are honestly retarded in games. Just another inane feature that serves to halt gameplay flow for "realism". I don't want to spend my time having to hold a button to simulate cleaning a gun after every combat encounter like in RDR2.
Everyone hates on FC2's weapon condition system, but it was pretty awesome I think. I played FC2 quite a lot, and didn't ever feel like it was a massive hindrance, instead offering up the occasional "holy crap" moment, sometimes making you improvise and trying to scramble to grab another crappy gun off the ground from someone you recently dispatched. Also really miss the healing and Buddy system, where if you went down in combat, you didn't just "die and reload", your buddy would actually show up to pull you to safety and help fight your way out. Too many whiners ruined good mechanics though.
Despite being decent throughout the 2 things that stood out to me was that the game tries too hard to throw in looter shooter menus and mechanics (which is killing open world games) and the fact that Dani and Castillo have basically no interactions whatsoever. He doesn't even know Dani exists, that really kills the felling you're attacking him.
Not even watching the review, just leaving a like for Gman and reading the comments. Same with Back 4 Blood and Death Loop. The only innovation in western AAA tap is how bland the games are getting.
I think a lot of us have just outgrown Far Cry at this point. What started out as semi-serious and gritty has evolved into gimicky siliness that's been copy-pasted for nearly a decade. Maybe one day we'll see The Jackal return, and a more serious tone with him.
Agreed. Copy-pasted, paint by numbers rubbish that’s been thrown together by a bunch of out of touch zoomers. Listen to the dialogue and writing in Ubisoft games; it’s so cringeworthy.
This is why Far Cry 2 will alway be my favorite. Dark, gritty, realistic. None of the forced comedic relief, none of the Michael Bay splosions n stuff. Not to mention the top notch fire physics and the asthetics.
Man jackal has so much scope for expansion and depth as a character. I really get pissed off at ubisoft just taking a look at farcry 2 and just going "nope miss me with that shit" just because it made less money.
If you're having too easy of a time with this game, I highly recommend turning off the radar, the stealth detection meter, the grenade/explosives detection meter, and the health meters for both yourself and for enemies. It doesn't make the game suddenly super challenging, but it definitely does give it a little extra boost to the difficulty factor and immersion factor IMO.
If the only thing you can do to make a game fun and challenging is to literally blind and cripple yourself, then it’s probably not really meant to provide much immersive gameplay.
Far Cr as a series kinda peaked for me with Far Cry3 ( and far cry 5 to some extent in terms of setting). The rest of the games now feel like a reskinned Far Cry 3 2.0 now with some rpg mechanics, steampunk weapons and Ubisoft's cringe marketing.
The “annoying zoomers” don’t even appeal to actual zoomers. I like FC, but I agree games need to stop using these hipster characters - Sincerely, A Zoomer

@@falco5148 yeah, like in FC3, 4, and 5 most characters were normal, but then they had a few stereotypes for fun. Like that over the top American guy who always used huge machine guns. Or the guy who you fly in a plane with in FC3.

Far Cry 2 is the undisputed pinnacle of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the shift to more casual gameplay in Far Cry 3 because of the god tier writing and premise for me. Far Cry doesn't seem to change, ever. I've played every one of them since 3 but 3 is the only one I beat and now I feel like I've beat all of them.
Ubisoft recycles the same formula is why. Ubi really needs to take a chance and create another original IP like For Honor and Siege. Otherwise is the same boring song and dance.

Dude I literally thought of this last night. The "new" games (far cry 3-6) all feel the same so the only incentive is what kind of map you want to play on. And for me far cry 3s map seems like the best one because it has the OG tropical island filled with mercenaries vibe to it like far cry 1 did.
8:25 Fun fact, at the end of that mission in Far Cry 6 the character makes a callback to the 3 mission. Dani saying that this "Felt familiar" after you escape the plantation
A story about a resistance needs to be compelling, gritty, and have to have a sense of progression that begins at ground zero. From what I've seen from past FryCry games I think only 3 really nails the feeling of progression. The only game I've seen pull off a good resistance is actually a MOD for Arma 3, Antistasi. I want to ambush a patrol with makeshift pipe guns to scavenge their gear. I want to organize an ambush on a encampment. I want the enemy to FIGHT BACK, the enemy should not just let you have a camp after losing one battle to you. I want to fend off attacks from my hard earned territory until my resistance advances enough to be knocking on the dictator's front door. But we got a hipster and watered down game more focused on.... I don't even know! Farcry seems to have lost it's identity and charm. Sure the fundamental game is good and never changes, but I'm bored. This game is boring.

Oluso is the panther you didn't get. It's stealth companion like Boom Boom that one shot kills in stealth mode and disintigrates the body so it cannot be found. Blood dragon was the last time they did anything interesting with the series. I remember playing metal gear V and realizing how it was basically just far cry but not bland and forgettable.
The premise of each Far Cry game is that you are stranded in an unfamiliar location and are forced to survive by the skin of your teeth, avoiding confrontation when possible. The closest the series got to fulfilling this vision was Far Cry 2 with the jamming weapons, malaria mechanic, and immersive in-game map. In fact, every single Far Cry game starts off in a scenario where you are stranded with no weapons. However, each game since 2 quickly goes off the rails and becomes a power fantasy. At least in Far Cry 3, the "power fantasy" aspect made some sense with the story of Jason becoming more and more of a ruthless killer as the story went on, but I think the games could be so much better if they remain tense, immersive experiences up until the ending. In my ideal Far Cry game, combat should be a last resort. Weapons shouldn't be so easy to come across, and ammo should be scarce. Taking damage has a chance to inflict an injury, reducing your max health until the injury is fixed (similar to Breakpoint). There should be a hunger mechanic that forces you to either hunt animals, buy in villages, or scrounge rations from enemy bases. Stealth is improved, allowing you to go prone and crawl along the ground. Suppressors function much like real world suppressors do; enemies can hear suppressed gunshots, but do not know where the shot came from unless you are close by, putting them on alert but not drawing them to your position. The only way to take down enemies silently is with a bow, or a melee weapon. There are no super-backpacks with rocket launchers.
Did anyone ever tell Ubisoft the definition of insanity? Insanity...is...releasing the exact same fucking game, over and over again, expecting shit to change. That is crazy.
I want to know exactly how many franchises change their signature gameplay with each new entry. With every new entry in any franchise, u either get a new protagonist or a new setting (sometimes not even that. For eg:- Horizon Zero Dawn). Every GTA game is just a bigger map with beautiful graphics and yet almost everyone .... to GTA 5. How was GTA V different from GTA 4. Infact with each new entry, the gameplay in rockstar games becomes more and more frustatingly linear and yet I dont see people crying about that. This is hypocrisy. It is like we have set higher expectations for Ubisoft than other gaming companies. Why is Ubisoft put through a tougher test compared to other developers?

@@sparshbansal6624 GTA 5 compared to 4 was a massive technological jump. It was arguably a masterpiece when it came out in 2013 because it was one of the only open world games to offer such a fleshed out and well told story while providing the player with so many side tasks that were actually enjoyable, paired with it's excellent writing. The story, gameplay and overall design was objectively better. There was also a 5 year time gap between the 2. Far Cry however remains the same every single iteration, the graphics improve slightly, the design philosophies remain almost exactly the same year after year after year. It's oversaturated, and all that changes is the location and the gimmicky villain. The stories are always half assed, and the writing is never as fleshed out as it should be. If you've played Far Cry 3, you've played them all. The games are a lazy cash grab for a developer that has run out of ideas. Horizon Zero dawn is carried by it's story and builds up intrigue, you want to know everything that has happened in the world it sets up.

Loved it in FC2 and FC3 but then they got rid of it, and I’ve been wondering why ever since
@Freesmart We don't.
You can do stealth and action at the same time? You don't have to choose only one.

I like the aesthetic, but I really hate how every game needs enemy healthbars and levels now. If it's not an MMORPG or MMOFPS, the game should just let you shoot guns at enemies without having to worry about HP.

the most effective way to clear enemy bases was to lay a fire and just wait because the ai didnt run from fire and just happily burned to death.
yeah masterpiece

It helps bring a ton of challenge and by the end it’s super fun like when I took down the two boats with nothing but a bow and arrow and some throwing knives.
I played Far Cry 5's new game Plus Infamous Difficulty.
And I completed 3/4 of the game (Jacob>Faith>And then alittle of John) without the Detection Meter.
The game essentially became Arma 3's base game single player. And if I wasnt maintaining 100% stealth. Or met them with OVEREHELMING AND ALL ENCOMPASSING Violence. I would get shredded in 3 shots (all guns are Automatic MGs.)
Then I realized that the "Reward" was an Outfit the Shitty Launcher gave me at the start. ("Rook" outfit) that now is Devalued because EVERYONE else has it.
I reccomend this. But please just play with the Detection Meter.
Yeah, but that takes the fun out of it. What I love is having the option of stealth or loud and proud, in 6 it really feels like stealth is just forced, and though it's challenging, it gets long and boring. Sometimes you just wanna pop in with a helicopter and go blasting.

If it was some sort of option for people who want a harder "experience" than I would say go for it but otherwise it just makes the game frustrating.

Your outro music is awesome - sounds like a theme to a Mercenaries game we never got.
This game looks like a kid with too many toys and no imagination
My man Gman seems to be exploding lately in YT. I feel so proud - Hopefully his content is not watered down to appeal other demographics.
@@sparshbansal6624 Not a single one, people just like to bitch. Far Cry, Cod, BF, CS, NFS, FH, GTA, every single fucking mmorpg to ever exist. It's all the same. And it's all just as fun. Id be dissapointed if Far Cry suddenly changed into something different, because Far Cry is Far Cry and not something else...
@@owlish_hotel The difference is the other games aren't released in a yearly basis like Far Cry has been in the past. The devs actually take time to improve the aspects of their games that they feel players are interested in. Far Cry remains the same, with every single release. Bland repetitive gameplay paired with a bland uninteresting story. All that changes is the setting.
@Who Am I ? Ubisoft games are the EA of open world games.
