    I just love how the commentary without engines makes the game more organic, collective and captivating.

      Yeah, and I hate all this; the engine says this and that, I also think the accusatory cheating mudslinging trend in chess these days is unfair and hurts the game.

    Thanks for sharing this, love these vids from the old days. Morozevich is one of the most talented masters of the game. His boldness in his play, even in blitz, produced highlights such as this. Brilliant, good-looking, gentlemanly, it's a shame he never became world champion, he would have been an excellent representative of the game.

    At 38:00 black actually has knight to f7 and that holds as a draw, i.e. rook to f7, king takes, and then white knight to e5 and back to g6 with no way to improve. Draw.

    • @Sasha1234575
      @Sasha1234575 8 лет назад +3

      You are right. Nf7. If white plays Rxe6 than not Nxb4 but Re8 and black is better. After Nf7 white has to play Qh5. But black has at least a draw. Diificult to find the best moves when you are in defense. Great game by Morosevich anyway.

    • @Z0dzor

      You don't play g6+, you play Qh4+ as follow up to Bh7+ and black are still losing.

    After taking the gambit, engines suggest g5 after white plays a normal move like Nf3. I'm surprised the announcers referred to this response as "old fashioned." Granted, this was 21 years ago. I wonder how a top player would respond to a king's gambit today.

    • @zarion1181
      @zarion1181 7 лет назад +1

      It is a very old line. It invites 3...Qh4. In the 19th century, there was a lot of experimentation in the Kings Gambit. The main line is 3.Nf3. The alternative with 3.Bc4 allows for more errors for black. It is a very interessting line. Anand responded with the best reply. 3.Nf6.

    • @Qhsjahajw
      @Qhsjahajw 3 года назад

      dude g5 is still the mainline. But playing d6 or what Anand played is a calmer approach to have slight advantage

    The two live commentators only say obvious or silly things..
    Seems they forgot how to play a kings gambit, and kept on speaking about pawns.. He left a pawn, he captured one pawn..
    Here it's all about time, guys!
    For instance capturing on c3 with the queen and then back its 2 times, and something usually you are not doing unless you threaten ex a rook..
    Don't know what fkn engines say, but I know which are the main theme in king g and Vienna..
