This is incompetence on a level that should cause major changes to take place. The entire JAAA has failed the track community and the nation as a whole, and they've done it over and over again. If there are no major changes, this will only continue, with maybe even more devastating consequences in the future. I don't like calling for people's job... but in this case I think someone needs to get fired. We have to send a strong message that this type of incompetence is unacceptable and will NOT be tolerated. Just saying "Oh, we're sorry" is simply not good enough.
I read an article that said she isn't going because she failed to throw the hammer the distance needed to qualify. . However I don't understand how she's ranked 27 without throwing the distance required to qualify. If registration is the issue then it would be great incompetence on the JAAA. However, that's the JAAA, who has ever expected more than incompetence from a government agency. Bunch of lazy wait for the last minute people.
Even though she didn't meet the standard Olympic qualifying distance of 72.50m ... her 71.53m throw the 27th longest throw this year, so she can still get in based on being in the top 32 this season. Even though it was unlikely that she would win a medal, it would still have been good experience for her... and a positive step for Jamaica in terms of developing an athletics program that encourages participation in a wider variety of track AND field events, instead of just focusing on the sprints. This is a lost opportunity on multiple levels.

From an administrative perspective, this should not have happened, and it shows up the weakness on the part of JAAA. I can see how the name of an athlete who qualify for their event is not registered. This is unacceptable.

Come on, bro. Think for a minute. This is about about Jamaica developing a well rounded track & field program, instead of just focusing on the sprints. This is about sending a message to the youngsters that there's room for them to explore other events than just the track sprint events. Even if she went and didn't medal, it's still good experience for her, and is an important step in developing a well-rounded track and field program.
They need to dismantle the JAAA- too many incompetent people in JAAA's forever.

I believe this was done deliberately, I don't think they wanted to take her. JAAA is a big disappointment to the athletes

The Olympic Committee's deadline has already passed. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that they'll make an exception for any one person.
