    I bought my Lyriq in January and I have been extremely happy with it. The range has increased from 307 to 360 according to my app. I shopped around for almost a decade for an electric car. I purchased a Lyriq because I got two cars in one. Luxury and Electric. I fell in love when I saw the grill and the place to put my purse. Cadillac gives exceptional service and support. Our salesman checked the latest discounts the day of purchase and we received Cosco, Dealer and the $7500. The concierge help me with my order and helped me with questions along with my salesman after purchase. I get so, so many compliments because of it's beauty and roominess. Every car has pro and cons even Tesla but for me and my Family the Lyriq fits like a glove. I am still in awe my beautiful car.

    Why are you surprised a 6000# luxury vehicle doesn’t handle twisty roads well? It’s not a sporty vehicle, it’s a Cadillac! It’s about time they are getting back to what they should be; a comfortable, quiet, relaxing driving vehicle. If you want to go carving canyon roads, get an Audi or a BMW or a Porsche. I drove one recently and was thoroughly impressed with the comfort and quality of the ride. Every car doesn’t have to attack the curves.

      @thirsting4Him Год назад +15

      I appreciate the review as well, but have to disagree with much of it. I have a 2024 Lyriq and love it. I didn’t get it for performance but luxury and it surpassed my expectations. My previous cars have been ICE Lexus RX350 & BMW coupe. From my perspective, the Lyriq feels, looks, and drives better than both of them. I will say the BMW handles much better especially around curves and both the Lexus and BMW can get up to 60 mph much faster than the Lyriq but love the Lyriq hands down. It’s fast enough for me to jump into traffic and pass when I need to. I don’t have the rattling you talked about and they did change the door handles on the 2024. This is my first Cadillac. Never even looked at one before this purchase. However, the price point and several credits makes this a very viable option if luxury is what you are going for.
      Now, I will say there are a few things that I do agree with you on like the charging port door. It seems a little janky for this premium of a car. Charging is not consistent as you mentioned, but I hardly ever charge outside of my home. I’ve only used public charging stations a few times on road trips. I found Electrify America to provide better fast charging times over EVgo.. Surprisingly, I was able to get almost 350 miles on a full charge driving 70mph using one pedal driving (regenerative breaking)…which I love by the way. I also agree that the charge percentage should be displayed on the dash, but I’ve gotten accustomed to checking it in the Cadillac app before I jump in the car. Now the Cadillac app needs some work. Hopefully they will update it in the near future.
      Overall, I think it is a great luxury car for the price. It looked phenomenal and drives like butter😊.

    @Gur814 Год назад +24

    Great review! I bought a 2023 Lyriq in May and agree with most of what you said here. It's overall a really great car for the price, but I've had one major issue: The AC is trash.
    I've been trying to get to the bottom of it. Any time it's 105+ out and the car has been sitting in the sun for about an hour or more, the AC blows only slightly cool air for 30+ minutes then it'll finally drop to a cold level. It's so bad that I don't feel comfortable putting my kids in the back seats. I took it to my dealer but they only tested it in their shop and everything came back within spec. When the ambient temperature is below 100, the AC works fine.
    I'm concerned there is a major cooling problem with these cars. I'm not the only Lyriq owner in a hot climate who has had this issue. And your comments about switching off the AC in the Hummer EV caught my attention. Plus the inconsistent charging that others have experienced... One theory in the Lyriq community is that the car is prioritizing battery comfort over human comfort. It takes awhile to cool the battery after sitting in the hot sun for awhile and so it won't cool the passengers until it feels the battery is cool enough. Or it could be a string of bad compressors affecting a bunch of cars.
    And before anyone asks, I've lived in this climate my entire life. I have already tinted the windows, always use a thick sunshade, and precondition the car for 15 to 30 minutes before driving. None of it works. I've owned a Volt and Model S before this and they both did just fine in this weather.

    To sum it up as an owner vs. a tester, I’d have to say the Lyriq has a quieter and smoother ride than my Lincoln Continental, roominess like my Audi family cars, and the zip and handling like my Porsche. With tested 340+ mileage at 70mph the Lyriq has a far better range than the Audi, Jaguar, and BMW EV’s. In general I like the capabilities vs price of this, especially with the 300+ range. I’m not convinced though that they are making any profit on this. On the charge port door, exactly what is wrong with manual doors? Like in my ICE vehicle I press a button on my armrest that pops the fuel cover. It works and it works well. Why do EVs feel the need to do weird things with charge port doors? It’s just something unnecessary to break.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Год назад +1

      Also this fake obsession with counting American cooperation’s profits & pockets is the dumbest thing ever.
      No one cares if you believe _Cadillac_ is “making profit” from their product, believe me when I say they have people in high positions who are paid very well to make sure that sorta things is taken care of. That’s the reason they spent the money upfront to develop a bespoke EV platform for their Ultium products - to reduce production costs for themselves as well as consumers.
      If you somehow find out that *gm* isn’t making enough profit off of the Lyriq, will that be a dealbreaker in your decision to own one, or any consumer’s decision? I highly doubt it. In order for you to question profit the value proposition has to be screaming in your face. But instead of making the comment “wow this is a great value” you rather question the cooperation’s ability to make profit.
      This is not your ICE Honda Accord. I highly doubt you’re under reviews of the Mercedes EQS and questioning why everything is powered and electrical including door handles. I think you completely missed the part where this is a *luxury* SUV and a _Cadillac_ first and THEN it’s a EV. Perhaps you wouldn’t have missed that if Kyle let it be known. He’s missed the mark with this review as well, BIG TIME.

      I concur re: the charge port door. I was hearing a story on NPR about how car makers are electrifying things within the dash that don't necessarily need it, but will cost the consumer big bucks if they break versus the old mechanics/cables that were just about bulletproof. Back to the Lyriq's charge door, I get it, it's a luxury vehicle and you want some "WOW, cool!" items but I wouldn't find it any less fancy with a push-pop out door.

    Terrific price point!! Thanks for taking the time to do this review! I gave it a negative review at several juncture’s so far. The outside appearance is not bad. I like it! The areas that you criticized were totally appropriate such as the ridiculous charging door and location. Driving that car in the snow and slush would destroy that charge port and/or door operation. I am personally not a fan of the very busy Steering wheel, and that is probably because I am now accustomed to driving with a yoke. However, I would not even recommend this car to my father, who is a big Cadillac fan. I am also surprised that the seat massage does not work in the butt, but only on the lumbar? That’s a total miss! One thing that you did not mention… It’s very nice to be able to close out the panoramic roof exposure. I had to buy the accessory in every model S Tesla that has a glass roof.

I love the fact that my view of the instrument panel is entirely unobstructed. Also, it is much easier to rest my hands on the yoke to keep the FSD happy rather than a steering wheel. It’s much more comfortable.

    Thanks a lot, Kyle, it didn't feel as long as you forewarned so, good setting of expectations. A friend of mine is seriously considering the Lyriq so maybe they will get the top of the line if it has better appointments - less plasticky. He won't be driving it like a sports car also so maybe a good fit. For my part, in my Model YLR I love the tight steering control and the ground hugging CoG which the Lyriq should be taking advantage of too. I'm also very much the minimalist so I would not like all those buttons and joysticks and twirly things. I also do not miss the driver's screen since in Autopilot, I don't need to see the speed all the time and when not in AP, I just drive the traffic speed anyway. The SoC in the driver's screen is good but again, I only check that intermittently when using Navigation to see if I'm pushing the envelope to the next Supercharger. But the Lyriq's control system does seem to hit the mark for many potential EV owners I talk to as they often mention the lack of buttons in the Tesla. So all in all, if they fix those rattles, trim down that garage-door sized charge cover and ease up on that snarling front grill which doesn't need to scoop that much air anyway, they'll have a very good luxury car that honors the Cadillac badge. Cheers.

Well, the 1958 Edsel also labeled their engines with the torque rather than the horsepower, so the lower-end was the E-400 (400ftlbs), and the upper-end was the E-475. During your curvy slalom driving you commented that the tires were screeching just going the speed limit. Later, while on the same road I noted that you drove by a speed limit sign marked 30 MPH, yet the car was traveling at 54 MPH at the time. It doesn't mean that it erases the lack of "sport" feel that you noted, but it does demonstrate that the drive was nearly double the rated speed for that stretch of roadway. Just a thought.
