It's not explained why the water tribes are split in two, but you can assume that it's because they would travel the world during peace times and during war times they want a place that's easy to defend and the poles are a great place for that, so they would move to the closest one. Waterbenders can bend water and ice while there's no earth at the poles for earthbenders to bend, fire would take a while to cut through a block of ice and hiding in a building made of ice would be quite resistant to huffing and puffing from airbenders as well.

Not everyone in a particular bending society can bend. Since they are on a warship most, but not all, of the crew can bend. There are different cities of benders. So, it's not surprising that there are different water bending tribes.
    Sokka is 15
    Zulo is 16
    Katara is 14
    Aang is 12.
There are others, but no spoilers from me.
Bending is something you are born with. Vertain movements do certain things. The martial arts are real moves in our real world. It helps the bender focus and direct. It takes talent, focus, and drive to develop a bender's abilities.
The show starts off more kid friendly, but soon darkens and matures. They talked about war and genocide in the opening exposition.
You'll laugh, probably cry, love, and hate some of the characters you'll see. The world building and character development is top rate.

@@IamnotJohnFord will Yeah I can really see that it could turn to be a dark show since it use a really mature topics from the beginning and I'm really excited to learn more

Interesting questions: "Why doesn't the South Pole tribe talk to the North Pole tribe?"
Could it be that there is half a trip around the world and the telephone hasn't been invented yet?
"why can everyone on the WARSHIP firebend?"
Could it be that it makes more sense to only have warriors, i.e. firebenders, on a WARSHIP?
Sorry if I sound flippant, but some questions are self-explanatory ;-)

@@Savenso okay the first question I was questioning why did they split in the first place like I thought every nation supposed to live together
Second question okay I guess that make sense I thought about that after the episode especially that probably all the water benders went to war that explains why she the only one in her tribe but sometimes I ask while watching when my brain didn't process the information yet😂

@@NeirdoCandy The question of why there are so few waterbenders is still being answered, so I didn't address it.
Small spoiler: the answer is not pretty 😞
In general I find your videos entertaining :-)
The questions that I didn't address will be answered throughout the series

      @@Savenso well now I'm terrified to know🥲
Thanks for not spoiling anything I appreciate that, I just address these questions as a part of the commentary so you can know my thought process but I want to know from the show if the answer is in it
