thank you for doing side by side, i just started painting with gouache and i am enjoying it! oil paint however is still a little too intimidating for me to use 😮
Ok but where was this when I was growing up this is literally the best especially bc I have trouble listening to the whole explanation sometimes 😅 but this was the perfect mix of info and explanation. Thanks!
I have not finished your video but when you were talking about the comparison and you said. “This is crap.” I laughed out loud because I understand exactly where you were coming from. Thank you for your video. I found you because I want to make a travel art book. Your book from Spain was very nice
For beginners in gouache I think it’s easier to start by using it like watercolor, not so opaque like in this video. Adding water really lets you see how your colors will dry out to, as you add more opaque colors till the end.
@@CecileYadro Anyone can have fun and use gouache as they like. It is a nice practice to start your painting with a water wash, if you want to get better at painting. Plus the paint is too thick out of the tube, maybe that might be bothersome for some people and starting opaque colors too soon might be a problem since the colors dry differently.

Thank you so much Cecile, this is fantastic! (As usual!) I have recently dusted off my painting supplies since retirement, and I've always preferred to paint in oils, but a few weeks ago I discovered my (dusty old) watercolours and have now ordered a set of gouache paints. I love the smoothness of Liquin with oil paints, and many years ago I did some acrylic painting, where I used a medium to slow the drying time and make it more workable. Is there an equivalent medium to use with gouache? I've heard of people using mediums with watercolour, but never tried this myself. I love to watch you paint with gouache, and I love your spontaneity, but I tend to be slow and I don't think I could take the stress of a quick drying painting.
You can use the watercolor medium from Winsor & Newton with gouache to slow the drying time. I don't use it, as I don't really see a difference with the plain paint.

I really love this side-by-side demonstration! Thank you for creating it!
Great!

Oil paint doesn't have to be intimidating! Take it like gouache and it will be fine!

Your message made me laugh too!
Informative comparison! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This was really really REALLY helpful, thank you so much 💜
You're welcome! Always happy to help
Wonderful painting!!! Thank you
Thank you so much 😀
Bonjour Madame Yadro, merci pour la vidéo, et pour les informations que vous y avez apportées. Je pense m'orienter vers la peinture à l'huile.
C'est bien si j'ai pu vous aider à choisir

I'm not sure it's the easiest way to do that!

You're right!
Great information. I use oil plein aire but I’m loving learning how to use gouache. How hard is it to use outdoors?

Excellent explanations 😊

Thank you for this comparison, super useful, I come from a digital art background, I wonder which medium is more close to digital art, any advice ?
I paint digitally, too, on Procreate. Considering the gazillion of digital brushes available, any traditional painting can be mimicked with digital!
@@CecileYadro in digital art literally everything is possible to do , I guess oil has more freedom like digital but it takes a long time to dry
Soooo underrated
Thanks!
Love your video!🥰
Thank you!!
Bonjour, quelle est la différence avec la peinture acrylique ?

@@CecileYadro super, merci !
Does painting with oil require good ventilation?
It's better, yes! Although I use water-mixable oil paints and they don't require as much ventilation as traditional oil paints.
Verry good and useful video!:) I love Gouache too :) Thank you for sharing!:) 💐 very very cute shoes
Thank you!
how about coloring book?
I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean?
Excellent
Thanks!
I'm way too impatient for oil...haven't tried it yet...i like gouache
If you add Liquin to oil, it will dry fast!
I booped the like button, lol
😂

Vous avez essayé avec du Liquin pour accélérer le séchage ?
Pas encore. Maintenant oui grâce à vous
Thank you
