Tracey Stanford that was an awesome response. It was really mature to look around at your life and what kind of person you were being and trying harder for the ones that you love. I'm an old mom, lol.... but I really respected what you wrote. I was affected by artists and music when I was your age. Music is like therapy. I'm an atheist and I love flyleaf. They have inspiring music, despite all the Christian influence. I don't judge. I like them for the music they make. I'm really sorry the band is over. I guess part of getting old is watching your favourite bands fall apart.
Don't belittle a seed planted . . . you may never see how that tiny thing may bear fruit years later. There is no such thing as an atheist. There is only someone not ready to ask that question, because the answer will bring them to a decision on what to do with it.
you believe that life could come from non-life naturally? That is required for naturalism, even though science has disproved it/abiogenesis. You believe that the universe could come from nothing naturally? And that it was lucky enough to form complex beings? Think about it.
This thread is the epitome of religion. The person simply stated that they loved the singer and, on a side note, happened to be an atheist, and multiple people came to harass and ridicule them for it. Wasn't "love they neighbor" part of your shitty book?
I absolutely love Lacey. She is the biggest role model of mines, and she is so sweet and loving. She's so soft spoken, yet her music can pound you with all sorts of meanings. I love that about her. And I will forever listen to her music.
I met Lacey and chilled on her tour bus at the 2006 family values tour. She drove us to wendys and we got frosties. It was one of the best times of my life. This young lady here is a beautiful person. She also shares my name, and I just love her.
People must not like telling you stories if this is the biggest BS story you've ever heard. What a sad statement/admission about your obviously very very limited life experience. Try being less of a wank, and maybe you won't feel like lashing out at strangers on the internet as much anymore.
@@soonermagic24 How so? I was also in a band in the same rough timeframe (not as big as Flyleaf but well known locally) and we hung out with random fans as much as we did guys in other bands. There is a lot of "hurry up and wait" as well as boredom involved in such a lifestyle, and musicians are people like everyone else. The vast majority are not wealthy and "Hollywood" as some might imagine.
Hmm... You know, that wild 'mane' of hers... I could just Google it- but is she a Leo? Edit: Just checked, but nope- just past the mark. But that could mean she was in a previous life or something. That'd make that "duality" of her singing voices really make sense too. I wish more bands did official covers of "I'm So Sick" though. I saw a tribute band that played it out really well- but why not a rendition for another popular band? Idk, enough waffling. Lol
I wish I could tell her Thank You and really have her understand exactly what she and flyleaf has done for me. Even my friends are grateful for her songs. No band/singer has touched me like flyleaf. Each song had a story that I took the lessons and made my own. Thank you for loving life and God.
I don't fawn over celebrities or idols at all. But if I had 10 minutes to talk to this amazing lady or share a conversation in passing. I would be truly grateful. The wisdom and beauty in her mind. Is absolutely incredible.
Flyleaf your music helped me through everything i went through in my life your music helped me run away from being abused & depression your music helped me alot i played your songs even when i was abused all my life when i suffered now I'm alive.🙏😢☺🤗❤
I love flyleaf, they're one ofy favorite bands ever. I absolutely love her voice!! She may have quit singing to raise her family but when her kid/s get old enough, she can always come back to it and her millions of fans will still be here waiting in anticipation for her.
Okay I know I'm late and you guys are going to judge me but I just found out about Flyleaf tonight, literaly 30 minutes ago. I keep watching interviews and live perfomances, the group is amazing but she has something special. I just love it!
Just discovered Flyleaf by an accident tonight and it seems I am 11 years too late. I am glad I came across Flyleaf. Lacey Sturm has an incredible voice and by far one of the best female vocalist ever! Even if she isn't with Flyleaf, I am a fan to the end!
She seems like a very special woman. I appreciate all of the amazing music she gave to us all and I wish her nothing but the best for her and her family.
I used to see them play local shows around the Houston area in the Passerby era, as a teen. I was captivated the first time I saw them at Java Jazz (lol). I even got maced by rentacops at their show with Blindside at Sam Houston University! Thanks so much for the awesome music and memories. And thanks for being strong in your convictions, especially in a culture that tends to look down on those convictions. The honesty, authenticity, and passion is apparent in the music and made it that much better.
It’s interesting that many folk mentioned they are non-believers. I don’t really listen to this genre of music. Growing up around gangster rap. I never see comments in a Interview with a gangster rapper saying “I don’t believe In selling drugs and thug life, but I do respect the artistry” 😂
She is so cute, and I'm glad she's happy with her life now, being married, having a kid, even leaving her career so nobly. I hope she chooses to do music later in life, she's a very talented woman :)
Lacey Sturm your music beautiful. I'm soo impressed, your voice is so powerful. The fact that you've brought faith into main stream music in a creative manner is very impressive as well. Not every song needs to say "praise God" 12 times in it, and you've delivered that to us. Thank you so much for everything!
You have a wonderful story, Lacey. I always loved your voice, and Flyleaf was instantly my favorite band, after listening to only on album. I'm glad your family's doing well, and I'm glad you were in flyleaf for so long. -A huge fan
This video really opened my eyes to what life's all about, i would love to read the book when it comes out. Thank You Lacey for all You have done during this last 10 years, your voice and lyrics really conforted me in some bad moments, and as sad as i am to see you leave Flyleaf, i completely understand the reason and i suport that decision. :')
Lacey is such a sweet and kind person. I love her and her music soo much, and I'm glad she's happy bit also sad shes not making music anymore. It's bittersweet, but I'm happy for her and her family
Good for her. She's so passionate in her music and rocks like hell! Glad she's growing up and moving on. 10 years touring is a lot of work and commitment. Glad she's on my playlist. ! Great artist.
ALLL of the people who are wondering whyyyyyyyy and whyyy lacey left flyleaf REALLY need to see and hear this video for suree....she says it in her own voice....MAYBE just maybe it may stop all the negative feedback on the new Flyleaf lead Kirsten May....???
I don't think it will, honestly. You can't replace a lead singer without a lot of backlash. Lacey brought something special and personal to Flyleaf when she was the lead singer, to me.
i understand that and yes lacey did leave that imprint special mark on certain people...so i do understand the backlash but at same time it sometimes gets too carried away, i still support flyleaf both old and new and of course im gonna support lacey's new solo career as well
Those are two very separate thoughts. I have no problem with Lacey leaving for the reasons she did. However, she had an incredibly unique voice, and her passion was unmistakable. While I fully admit my experiences with the new singer are through camera phone videos on youtube and my jury is still out, she seems to have something of an average, generic voice. I can't help but feel that she's stepping into shoes she can't quite fill out, and if that's the case, fans feeling upset about a downgrade in their band isn't unreasonable.
I really love the way you scream in '' 'Im so sick'' song, i was so amazed like it was my first time saw a lady screaming like a rocker 🤟🤟🤟 that was so cool 😎😎😎😎
Not a comment for a while shows how much I pay attention to how time flies. I met you Lacey at your first show in the Pacific Northwest! I met all you guys and you signed the demo CD. You are a true inspiration and light in so many lives! Good luck on your journey in life! So glad to see you are doing well! I will miss you guys on stage but maybe later.... Thanks for being cool to some random guy at your first tour in Spokane Washington!
God bless you, Lacy. For a decade you entertained us and brought to youth a message of hope and renewal through faith. If you ever want to resume your career as a musical artist, always remember that you have a LARGE following of fans who love you and wish you all the best in your life. Who will be here when you are ready to return. I'm one of those fans. Again, God bless and much, much love 💖💞💕♥️❤️💝💗❣️
you left with good reasons im a believer in god and jesus Christ because of your band flyleaf and your good friends in skillet . and tomorrow morning im getting baptized . thank you for changing my life around .
why? like, why do you have to be christian to believe in God? Why do you have to be baptized in an institution and not through...like....living? its confusing. and wtf shes christian????
You dont have to be baptized, its more of a public display of faith. You make a great point that a christian should show they are christian by how the live. Jesus said he is the way to the Father (God), you can believe in God or Gods without being christian, but faith in Jesus has proved existence of a One True God for the last 2000 years, with healing miracles, excorsims etc. God loves you so much :)
Plain and simple! When you become a mother, if you are any type of a Mother, you put your children first. She had 10 amazing years with Fly Leaf and now she has another calling. The Lord put it up on her heart to stay at home and tour less. To be their for her now two sons. Their is nothing wrong with that. She did not have a good life growing up and she doesn't want her kids having the type of life that she had. I applaud her. This won't be the last we hear from her. God is not done with her yet. She's just putting that hectic career on hold for a while. When they get older she may go back to it. Enough said.
I'm not Christian, but I like Flyleaf and I like their music. I think it's sweet that she decided that she wanted to focus her time and energy on the people she loves the most. I don't see anything wrong with a person who can afford to really devote herself to her family choosing to do so. It would be awful if instead she had decided to allow greed to take her away from her baby.
Hey that kids a lucky kid to have a mother that has such a beautiful voice and when he is in like high school he can say "yah my mom was in a band called Flyleaf" i wish i could of done that, then they go home and look them up and now he is the cool kid in school mommy was a rock star
Bands like Linkin Park, POD, Slipknot and Flyleaf helped me living through some really dark times and saved me from taking my life.. Today I'd overcome the most of my past and when I listen to the songs of these bands it's like remembering feelings that are luckily far away now. I'm so happy seeing Lacey has also done some personal development which has caused her to quit with Flyleaf. Their songs were so authentic because they also lived through some harsh times and as much as I appreciate this I wouldn't have liked to see Lacey staying stuck in this forever, singing about these things. To me she's like a sister, a soulmate and I'm happy and thankful to see her beginning a new capital of her life ❤
I'm religious, my best friend is atheist. We disagree, but respect each other. Disagreeing isn't bashing/arguing. Not respecting everyone's belief/opinion is what causes the problem. We all need to love each other regardless of belief. Life is too short. As for Flyleaf...religious or not, great stuff. Ha
RIP Rich. You were an amazing engineer and even better dude. You were always smiling and a joy to be around. What you did with Flyleaf and Fair to Midland impacted more lives than you'll ever know. We love and miss you, man.
Wow, these comments. It feels good not being an argumentative atheist or an overzealous christian. It means I just get to sit back and enjoy the show. *eats popcorn*
Your performance at Subverse in Camden Town, London, UK around 12-14yrs ago was captivating. I was at the front when you performed ''Cassie" - I was in Awe... Thank you for that moment in time x
jimlovesgina Um, maybe respect from both parties? Like, people behaving like human beings who are trying to understand each other instead of trying to break each other down?
+Amy Kilbride Nothing better to do? It's a pretty important topic. It absolutely is worth talking about. Otherwise you just bury your head in the sand and don't learn anything.
Its not about your opinion of 'not having anything better to do'. Its about questioning the reason behind it; the why you have to believe in the first place.
wrf, I'm not religious but It's really annoying that whenever I look at the comment section of bands like flyleaf It's filled with whiny atheists...do you people not realize the irony? You push your beliefs on others more than any Christians I've ever met.
Oh stfu up dude. Atheists don't ban gay people from getting married, deny women their right to decide what to do with their own body, start wars over bullshit or try and pass laws to force their beliefs on anyone else. When religious people stop doing that evil shit, then we'll shut up
Kevin4444D "Christians" don't pass legislature, Lawmakers do. Legislature usually Is based on popular vote, When gay marriage or abortion Is banned It's not because some Christians decided to ban It...It's because the majority of the people In a particular state voted to ban It. A whole lot more people than just Christians vote.
TabiKat Tingles Liberals who reject natural law and nature's God fear what they can't possibly understand so they spread the hysteria that Christians are going to take over the country and create a theocracy. That is not what Christians want and never was but you wouldn't know that because your too busy tearing down the worldview that gave you freedom and liberty in the first place. Now that is what I call stupidity.
And news flash, we are not afraid of God. It's hard to be afraid of something that very likely was invented by a weak minded individual like yourself so you can have some sort of meaning for your sad twisted little life. I rely on truth and logic, and that's all I need to live a happy fulfilling life. So...sorry.
thank you Lacey. I love your voice and music. but even more I love that your love for God is the most important and being able to spread that with your music and talent is a great blessing. your message has moved me.
She is already so soft spoke, but when her voice gets even softer when she talks about her friend passing away, and softer again at the end when she says, 'and that's the reason I stepped down from Flyleaf,' my eyes got watery. So much emotion in 3 minutes. I am glad she still makes music.
My sister was a good friend of Rich, her soundman that passed. He was still quite young with a very young child. It was a single car accident and I think his vehicle ended up upside down in a river. Terrible. They released a video, maybe their last single before she left, that had a picture of Rich (& pics of others) in the video.
Flyleaf has been one of my favorite bands. I was angry when Lacey stepped down. How could someone trade being a rock star for family? Now I have a better understanding. Living this one life as you choose is most important.
Just listening to her speak, causes such emotion. I was lucky enough to see Flyleaf live, and you could tell she poured every ounce of herself into her music and on stage. It was a sad day when she left Flyleaf, but I have to admire her dedication to her priorities. Last I heard, she was living in Pittsburgh, and is seen frequently in the the South Side. I wish her and her family all the luck, love, and joy in the world.
I cant imagine what it would be like to be her son and grow up and realize that your mom was a kick ass amazing singer that millions of people loved.
And that her mom decided to left a group that millions of people loved for him
koraakora AWWW That's true!

jaylecia davila i agreed 100%!
It's so crazy how this woman with the softest speaking voice I've ever heard can turn on a dime and let out harsh vocals that shake me to the bones.
She does that when she plays live shows. When she would stop to speak to the audience, she sounded like a completely different person.
That's how God is, so soft, yet so strong.
Right?! Amazing!!!
For real

Wow really
how ironic. you're an atheist and you're last name is "santos" means "saint"
She's so "unassuming". It's amazing that she can belt out some of those screams. You'd never guess it from listening to her talk like this.
***** Same thing with Lacey she also screams to express herself in her songs
I just wanna cry
You weren't?
Do you see this? ---->👨💼 that's my right shoulder. You lay your head right there and cry babydoll. ❤
@@JasonRyanWilson Seriously?
I was this whole video this woman is amazing. Not many woman like her in this world anymore

I miss lacey being in the band but im happy to see her happy and still letting God lead her life
I absolutely love Lacey. She is the biggest role model of mines, and she is so sweet and loving.
She's so soft spoken, yet her music can pound you with all sorts of meanings.
I love that about her.
And I will forever listen to her music.
I know! I just watched one of her concerts and her speech made me break into tears!
I met Lacey and chilled on her tour bus at the 2006 family values tour. She drove us to wendys and we got frosties. It was one of the best times of my life. This young lady here is a beautiful person. She also shares my name, and I just love her.
Biggest bullshit story I’d ever heard.
@@jbm0866 second biggest bullshit story
@@soonermagic24 Lol ok, like your name?😂
I love Lacey's voice. I can listen to the song Again on repeat nonstop and enjoy every minute of it.
responding to all the people saying how soft she's speaking: A lion doesn't have to prove they're a Lion! :)
Lol
Damn good comparison!

I wish I could tell her Thank You and really have her understand exactly what she and flyleaf has done for me. Even my friends are grateful for her songs. No band/singer has touched me like flyleaf. Each song had a story that I took the lessons and made my own. Thank you for loving life and God.
Jasmin Nieves no one has touched me like Donald Trump. I asked god why he let this happen but he never answered.
That voice has brought me so much emotion for many, many years. Lacey, please don't ever quit music fully.
Her voice is so relaxing

I love flyleaf, they're one ofy favorite bands ever. I absolutely love her voice!! She may have quit singing to raise her family but when her kid/s get old enough, she can always come back to it and her millions of fans will still be here waiting in anticipation for her.
I get chills listening to that soft voice with the music in the background. I can feel it all around me 🖤
lacy sturm you are the one greatest singers i have run into i love you're songs.
i hope best for you're family.
Okay I know I'm late and you guys are going to judge me but I just found out about Flyleaf tonight, literaly 30 minutes ago. I keep watching interviews and live perfomances, the group is amazing but she has something special. I just love it!
Welcome ❤️
She is such a wonderful woman with a beautiful spirit.
Thank you for sharing this with us Lacey, you voice is always in my head.
Just discovered her, literally, TODAY! Nov. 30...
Love her "inside voice" as much as her powerful singing voice!
her voice is so sweet and calm and then you hear her in theirs songs with screaming hhahahh what a difference !!!! i love her and flyleaf so much
When you have Children, everything in life ultimately changes, you realize what's important and what no longer matters. good for Lacey.
So cool how she has such a gentle quiet spirit talking but when she sings she roars!! Love her!!
I miss you so much if it wasn't for fly leaf I really wouldn't be here something about your music kept me here
I used to see them play local shows around the Houston area in the Passerby era, as a teen.
I'm an atheist myself but I love Lacey's music and voice. If anyone were to be able to convert me it would be Lacey Sturm. I love her soooo much!
It’s interesting that many folk mentioned they are non-believers. I don’t really listen to this genre of music. Growing up around gangster rap. I never see comments in a Interview with a gangster rapper saying “I don’t believe In selling drugs and thug life, but I do respect the artistry” 😂
You are still the BEST vocalist in FLYLEAF 😘😘😘😘
Wait this is not Flyleaf ASMR?
lol
Lmao
It pretty much is lmao
she would have an awesome asmr channel if she did.
yes it is stupid its the original singer that was with em 10 yrs from the start.the one u see today is only been with for a few yrs.and its as good
She is so cute, and I'm glad she's happy with her life now, being married, having a kid, even leaving her career so nobly.
I just think she has the sweetest personality, regardless of religion - she has done so much for me with her music. What a beautiful soul
I see more people complaining about people arguing than I see people arguing.

This comment is so true
God thinks ya'll are wonderful. Just wanna let you know that Jesus loves you

You have a wonderful story, Lacey. I always loved your voice, and Flyleaf was instantly my favorite band, after listening to only on album. I'm glad your family's doing well, and I'm glad you were in flyleaf for so long.
-A huge fan
The first band I fell in love with as a child. I would hear the song from across the house and sprint to the room it came from to listen.
Her speaking voice is so soft spoken and peaceful.
Good for her. She's so passionate in her music and rocks like hell! Glad she's growing up and moving on. 10 years touring is a lot of work and commitment. Glad she's on my playlist. ! Great artist.
I've never heard her speak before. Shes really sweet. I really like her voice, its a shame shes not performing anymore.
I just hope that kid knows how cool is his mom
+MadaoLEM If Wayne Static had a kid, that would be badass.
I love you Lacey. Thank you for the great uplifting music! :)
Lots of love and respect for this woman and what she's been through. You're a wonderful and beautiful person Lacey. Love you!
She’s so amazing ❤️ who is still listening in 2021
Woah, she’s so soft spoken and then you hear her sing and go holy shit! She’s amazing as a singer and as a person!
I really love the way you scream in '' 'Im so sick'' song, i was so amazed like it was my first time saw a lady screaming like a rocker 🤟🤟🤟 that was so cool 😎😎😎😎
Too late to comment on this; but you and jason truby of P.O.D really inspires me. God Bless! And I am thankful I found God. :)
Again, God bless and much, much love
💖💞💕♥️❤️💝💗❣️
you left with good reasons im a believer in god and jesus Christ because of your band flyleaf and your good friends in skillet . and tomorrow morning im getting baptized . thank you for changing my life around .
Awesome! God bless man!
Thanks brian
why?
like, why do you have to be christian to believe in God?
Why do you have to be baptized in an institution and not through...like....living?
its confusing.
and wtf shes christian????
Yeah she is.
She is so soft spoken.
+Jay Pulido her voice is all calm and nice when she talks, like Serj Tankian.
I'm all for family and you are a sweet girl but you were born with the gift of Rock. You rock so hard it was awesome what you gave us. Thank you.
Oh what a soft spoken & genuine person you are! We will miss your amazing voice!
They opened for my friends band many years ago, I remember walking past her at the show before they hit it big.
When she started talking about his death I nearly cried cause you can tell it truly hurt her 😢😢
I'm not Christian, but I like Flyleaf and I like their music. I think it's sweet that she decided that she wanted to focus her time and energy on the people she loves the most. I don't see anything wrong with a person who can afford to really devote herself to her family choosing to do so. It would be awful if instead she had decided to allow greed to take her away from her baby.
Simply glad.Uh for what it's worth God be praised ur voice was &is still heard.ty for still making music&sending the message.blessings.🙏👍❤️❤️
Good choice, life is precious, we hope to see you soon even if it’s for one song. Your screamo vocals are soo awesome💜🙌🏼
Didn't need the background music. It's distracting.
Hey that kids a lucky kid to have a mother that has such a beautiful voice and when he is in like high school he can say "yah my mom was in a band called Flyleaf" i wish i could of done that, then they go home and look them up and now he is the cool kid in school mommy was a rock star
I had no idea Memento Mori was a phrase, I thought it was just their second album title. Very beautiful!
To me she's like a sister, a soulmate and I'm happy and thankful to see her beginning a new capital of her life ❤
Amazing. So blessed to be able to have that opportunity and to recognize it. Many blessings to her and her family.
I absolutely love her she's literally why I dance her song all around me is a song I felt God in I still dance it today
So bummed I never got to see you perform in flyleaf! :(
+Monika Lopez that's like never seeing Static-X with Wayne dying.
Ha
Amen all ourselves start to non- believers but then they will discover God is so okay some don't believe people understand that.
RIP Rich. You were an amazing engineer and even better dude. You were always smiling and a joy to be around. What you did with Flyleaf and Fair to Midland impacted more lives than you'll ever know. We love and miss you, man.
I appreciate your talent and will show my children your beautiful music. I am alone but I hope to find a good woman like you some day.
Shes such an amazing person! You can hust feel goodness from her when you meet her something only true christians can put out..
Lacey come back!!! Miss you!!!
Wow, these comments. It feels good not being an argumentative atheist or an overzealous christian. It means I just get to sit back and enjoy the show. *eats popcorn*
Beauty Effulgent True. I'm an atheist but I don't go around arguing with religious people. I just sit back and watch everyone else argue :D
MrFredstt Cheers dude :D
You just argued about not arguing. :-P joking :-P
Sorry, couldn't resist. LOL
Beauty Effulgent I don't enjoy the maliciousness of man.
+Beauty Effulgent the only reason I read your comment was because of the *eats popcorn*
Your performance at Subverse in Camden Town, London, UK around 12-14yrs ago was captivating.
I was at the front when you performed ''Cassie" - I was in Awe...
Thank you for that moment in time x
Man losing someone you care about and work with is hard for anyone but thank for sharing the pain you went through and thank for the music you give.
From screaming flyleaf songs to ASMR. Count me in!!
I don't see why people are arguing over religion in the comments ... Do you all have nothing better to do?
Amy Kilbride
This is a video about someone professing religion. What the fuck did you expect?
jimlovesgina Um, maybe respect from both parties? Like, people behaving like human beings who are trying to understand each other instead of trying to break each other down?
+jimlovesgina more respect how bout that stupid fuck
When religious people stop doing that evil shit, then we'll shut up
Kevin4444D
"Christians" don't pass legislature, Lawmakers do. Legislature usually Is based on popular vote, When gay marriage or abortion Is banned It's not because some Christians decided to ban It...It's because the majority of the people In a particular state voted to ban It. A whole lot more people than just Christians vote.
And the lawmakers who pass these ridiculous laws are....???
That's right. Conservative christians.
You were so inspiring. I am glad you did what you needed to for your family. It will make a difference in the end....
I think she's so pretty
Just listening to her speak, causes such emotion. I was lucky enough to see Flyleaf live, and you could tell she poured every ounce of herself into her music and on stage. It was a sad day when she left Flyleaf, but I have to admire her dedication to her priorities.
Last I heard, she was living in Pittsburgh, and is seen frequently in the the South Side.
I wish her and her family all the luck, love, and joy in the world.
Not sure if she will see this but she impacted me in my youth. She is incredibly talented and her faith seems so genuine.
Yep she seems a sweet, and beautiful person that can rock out in the name of the Lord!!!!!
