      Going through a very difficult situation with a narcissist wife that although being evangelical "christian", she always gaslight me to the point that I had to sleep in the car in carpark for many times. I'm just waiting for the divorce. Yes. Prosperity is not guaranteed. We can only ask Him to provide a way for us. It is not our will, but His we should seek to learn. He does love us, but as a Father who wishes His child to develop. Emotion is a factor when someone sincerely loves the father and Christ.

    As a young man I made up my mind to read the bible from cover to cover and over the next several years I did. The reason for this was I got tired of people telling the bible said this or that and I didn't know if they were right or wrong. I have a gift of remembering most of what I read, maybe not to quote by chapter and verse but if someone starts quoting I remember the text. This has shown me that the majority of those people really didn't know what they were talking about. Ive sat in church and heard preachers using verses out of context. This has increased my faith in God and Jesus but lessened my faith and trust in preachers. In this day and time these churches are in serious trouble, there are children in those churches and we know what Jesus said about leading children astray.

      There is a philosophy that thinking about yourself is wrong.
      That is simply not true.
      Let me ask you. Did you eat yesterday? Why didn't you forgo that meal and fast and pray, or give it to the hungry instead?
      Did you sleep last night? Why didn't you stay up all night and pray and sing hymns?.
      You know why you didn't? Because you need to eat and sleep.
      You need to focus on yourself sometimes. You need to keep aware of your own physical, mental, financial and spiritual health. You are no good to others if you aren't looking after yourself.
      So thinking about your needs and your wants aren't wrong, unless they dominate your thinking.
      It is when you put yourself ahead of others that it is wrong.

    I was attending a rather large (3 services with ~3500 at each) church and was having doubts about the core values when they announced that they were taking up a “special” collection to build a “wedding chapel”. I knew several families within the church that were struggling mightily financially, some not even making ends meet and sinking fast, and these families tithed faithfully and rather than help these people out they wanted to build a wedding chapel. For me that was the last straw and I walked away. I’m currently searching for a solid Bible based church, but in the meantime I continue to tithe by helping as many of these people as I can financially. Many churches are now all about the tinsel and flash rather than following the Word. It makes me so sad to see people being led AWAY from Christ by the very people that are supposed to be leading them through the narrow gate.

    • @kevincourtney7312
      @kevincourtney7312 Год назад +23

      Nothing in the New Testament about titheing. If you want to give 10%, fine, give to Christian charities aside from what you give your church. Rich pastors are as unbiblical as it gets.

    In the mid seventies I was with the persecuted believers behind the iron curtain. The persecution was great, but God’s peace and guidance were very present. I did notice several things about them;
    They had an intense love for God,
    They prayed… A lot!
    Their prayers had power.
    God guided them, and protect them.
    One other thing I noticed. The persecuted brethren, and the underground failed to have a building program, or special “love offerings” for a new jet.

    Some of the things being embraced by much of the church that make me sad/mad are enneagram, yoga, meditation and other contemplative/mystic practices, ignoring or even teaching against behaviors that Scripture clearly teaches as sin, not teaching repentance. Following (read worshiping) ministers and ministries and valuing their teachings over personal study of God’s Word can lead us into error.

Tonight the Lord showed me true worship as I watched a live recording (Feb 12, 2023) from Jesus Image Church in Orlando, Fl. The worship team sat on the floor but was so well orchestrated and led by the Holy Spirit. The tide is turning and I am overjoyed as I have been crying out to the Lord for over 25 years to see change in these things. Deceptive church? Are you sure you want to hold on to that Bible?…
      History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, not only did they not agree but their list of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved it by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

    My husband and I briefly attended a church where they taught that "if you cant speak in tongues, you havent been baptized of the Holy Spirit" and that a 2nd baptism is necessary. They also taught on tithing and that if you tithe God will bless you, and even went as far as condemning people for not tithing. My husband, being the very discerning Christian that he is, went to the pastor with Scripture to prove the things he was teaching that were wrong. He was told that he was being hateful and closed minded and he just doesn't have enough faith. But my husband always presented him Scripture to back up his rebuttal. Until eventually the pastor just quit responding. They believed that God speaks to us personally by giving us extrabiblical revelation. Like he would claim to have full on personal conversations with God. The worship music was always the "me-centered" doctrine of worship, along with the very romanticized songs repeated nothing but "Jesus i love you". Which, nothing wrong with saying that but it's not a worship song. They taught that God always heals and if you're not being healed you need to have more faith. This list could go on. Needless to say, we didn't attend for very long and thankfully we found a very wonderful church that does expository teaching of the Bible. The true and simple Gospel is shared every Sunday teaching that we are all born into a sinful nature and that it is only by grace through faith that we are saved. And that we go through a process of sanctification. We regularly do communion and they tell people that if they are not a believer to let the cup pass. I have not experienced a single biblical flaw there or anything that raises a red flag. Everyone there is there for truth, not to have their ears tickled. God is so good!

    Also in 1998 I became a bass player and singer and joined a worship band. And I've been in worship bands to this very day as well as a southern gospel band I joined that visited small churches in Kentucky when I moved here.
    I'm with you on worship music. For me, the function of worship music is to worship god. That is, I prefer songs that are not performance pieces but are congregation participation songs and their function is to worship God and call out his glory. Now to be frank, a lot of the songs that I've done in various worship bands are questionable in that area. I've only had one worship leader I've ever worked with that was very stringent about what songs he would sing and it was shocking how much stuff you would hear all the time on the radio and in churches that he would not do.
    I actually wrote a song a few months ago that I've never shared with anyone and it's basically based on revival. But to be clear, the whole theme of the song is about me having revival personally every single day I wake up in the morning. For me, that's the Christian experience.
    I'm now 70 and I'm quite aware that the older you get the faster the weeks months and years go by. However, days still seem to take just as long as they took when I was a kid in school except when I was watching that clock in the last 5 minutes of the day. But the reason I bring that up is to say that I believe that all human beings have the exact same lifespan and we have a name for that lifespan we call it, today.
    That is, what I did yesterday is of no consequences except I may receive the benefits or suffer the consequences of it, I may have done great things or I may have done terrible things. But today is a new day and today I choose to make it the Lord's day. That means no matter how well I did yesterday, the question is what are you going to do today and that also means that no matter how bad I did yesterday, what am I going to do today?
    The concept of a fresh start every single morning is so empowering. How do I thank God for the way he designed us in our lives.

      I also hate the entertainment trend. Sometimes I have wondered if I was at Church or a Pink Floyd concert. I don't mind modern spiritual songs with a message. That is why I enjoy many of the older Hymns, they tell a story of Jesus' love and HIS offer of redemption and Salvation. Songs that I can remember the message all week, not Spiritually vapid songs that are forgotten the moment it is over.

My husband and I were bugged by one pastor and fellow churchgoers to go to this church. We didn't feel right about the pastor for many reasons and couldn't figure him out at outings. Hi Kris, thank you for your video. I appreciate how you articulated the false teachings in the church today by explaining what you weren't saying so that your statements wouldn't be taken wrong. I think that we see those teachings a lot in the church today and they sell. I believe that we are seeing authentic moves of God and His Spirit with the revivals that are happening still all over and I believe that God knows that it will take just that for people to come to Him. One of the teachings that we are seeing that is rising up is that homosexuality is not a sin, even thought the Bible is crystal clear that it is. I think last year or the year before the United Reformed Church in America voted that homosexuality is not a sin, which is changing scripture and is super dangerous. Thank you for your videos and your sound teaching. I do appreciate them. God Bless!

    An evangelist once said that God wants us to seek his face and not his hand…
    The Lord spoke to me a long time ago and asked me, “will you still serve me, even if I don’t give you what you’re praying for?” It was what I call my Mt Moriah Moment… I had a few promises that I was holding on to, but the Lord was withholding them from me. He was testing me. I finally came to a place where I was broken before him and I sincerely just wanted HIM. It didn’t matter if those other things ever came to pass… I even accepted the possibility that I had misunderstood him and what I thought were promises from God were just my own personal wants.
    But when I got to that place where I was seeking his face, instead of his hand, something happened and I was changed. And little by little those promises have been fulfilled in my life. Not all of them were what I thought they were… but he has been faithful and true to me…
    Job said… “though he slay me, yet will I trust him…” that is how I want to live my life. 🙏🏻
