- John Fogerty "Fortunate Son" live, Chicago, 2008.
There appears to have been a technical glitch in the way comments were posted here. In particular, one of my "responses" somehow turned out to be just a copy of the post I was responding to.
I do understand the environment under which this song was written as I am old enough to remember when this song was released.
I may delete the spurious posts to make the discussion clearer...
I dedicate this song to President Bush (Jr), Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Karl Rove.

For 60 year old guy, he still have the voice and the energy.
I saw John last night at fox woods casino in Connecticut I highly recommend His show to everyone You will not be disappointed. He had the place Rocking and his Band is Great !! Rock On John You KICK ASS !!!!!!!!!!!
I went to see John Fogerty last year I think in May at the Rexall Centre at York U, now my BF and I have tickets for the Sonic Centre for Sept 14.... For his 67 years let me tell you he don't let up eh, you how some bands take breaks, John NEVER stopped at all song after song after song, he don't fool around on stage at all..... I would love to see him come to Toronto with his 2 look alike sons, Shane and Tyler, boy can they play, Daddy taught them well. I wish I was in this family.
THEY ROCK!!!! Back in the days when music had social relevance. I'd often find myself wishing i was a young man in the mid to late 60's. Revolutionary times.
Rotterdam i will be there june 2008, he is my God of Music i am 53 years old and i still love his music.
damn, even after all these years he still has an amazing voice and plays the guitar really well
People will be rocking out to this forever
JF has been my most favorite rock vocalist since CCR days. And equally important is that he is a brilliant guitarist and superb songwriter. You can tell some musicians have nice personality, and JF is definitely one of them.
AMAZING!!!!
63 years of pure energy, he has rocks rolling through his veins!!!!! What a great voice!!!!
CCR 4ever!
I'm almost crying!!! EXCELENT VIDEO!!!!!
Foggy rocks,he still looks and sounds the biz, mint song J.Foggz rock and roll is still alive.
This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1969
how could 8 people vote this down....this is a 100 thumbs up video...those who voted it down, should never listen to music ever.
John Fogerty is the best, John 4 EVER!!!
See you in Munich and Vienna
love this song!!
very good, i loved that music !!
amazing song!I wanna see him in concert
John has still got it. There's a Jerry Lee Lewis show on pbs where he rocks on "Good Golly Miss Molly". I luv it.
Love it, True lyrics!
Awesome!!
THIS TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!
Great song. Great drummer.....!!
the old version has a quality that is impossible to reach. It's impossible to play a song in the same way it was played before. Different instruments, different people, same singer but slightly different voice, different technology..... But it's good to know John fogerty is still alive to play that song once more
amazing
Quite possibly, CCR were the best band of the 60s. Fogerty gave America some of its most enduring and greatest songs.
the song rocks anyway i don't care if he remake it a million times i love it
They old geezer can still rock.
he can still rock the house!!
. . . notice Billy Burnette behind JF on guitar - great guy and guitar player ! ! !
His voice isn't what it used to be, but he's still great.
@SeleniumRectifier damn hippy. Thanks for the video
John is no teenager but still has the balls to go for it
Will do. TY!
God bless W, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfled and Karl Rove.
yeeeah that rocks!

Esto es Arte!!!
this song IS BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!
excellent drummer here .... best CCR song
I agree, there's 20 year old singers whos names I wont mention that cant sing their own stuff live. This IS a performing artist.
One name: Saul Zaentz. He was the owner of Fantasy Records. Check him out.
Its the best song of the world
John See you in LINZ ;)
you are really the best
and kenny is the best drummer of the world ;)
My picks are Down On The Corner, and Have You Ever Seen The Rain.
was there.... yeeeaa...
what a crowd
This is nam baby!
He compensates his lack of voice with pure attitude, hats off to the man!
My god he still is great
@ironbaby12 That's Kenny Aronoff. Fogerty calls him "the best drummer in the universe." He made his name drumming for Mellencamp.
NICE ONE
@CropDuster33 GONE!?! GONE?!?! i personally think its still freakin' awesome!!
hell yeah still kicking ass and taking names and I am only 19 hell yeah CCR all the way
YEAH!
Yes indeed all around musician
@SeleniumRectifier He did indeed :) and he still got it , his voice that is .
all this talk of old wars. this song eppitimized the desire of many to by pass Nam with their connections and $ behind them. and yet today our war is being fought and waged by even the fortunate one's because many are sitting behind desks in little offices reading code on computers while others are in the bush/sand face to face as well as urban fighting. All hail and hats off to our heros of freedom, both past and present...
John Fogerty wrote ALL of the Credence songs. He was CCR and still is CCR. He got out of music until such a time as when he would be sole owner of the songs he wrote. Some of the comments here really crack me up.
F*ckin' awesome!!
Mann... love his voice... I just found out this song few days ago while watching die hard 4 in dvd... Can anyone suggest other good songs from Creedence Clearwater revival?
Damn he is still hottttttttttt !!!!!
Drummer is Kenny Aronoff. One of the best drummers out there for sure!
@dmeachy Yeah same here... Of course he wrote this song And yeah he was in CCR ¬¬' !!
great ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
John Fogerty is so badass he has VIn Diessel playing the drums
@SeleniumRectifier john fogerty was creedence clear water revival. he was more than a member
@UncleMikeNJ I can tell. He's a beast.
He wrote the song. I think he can do whatever he wants with it.
@SeleniumRectifier .......to write newspaper and magazine articles. He was a POG
OK, amerikaner - but he is still alive and kicking! How many of today´s one day wonders will be welcome on stage 40 years from now?
@jimmyjohnjohns I totally agree with that.
Оффигительная песня
I FUCKING LOVE THA SONGS OF THA VIETNAM ERA!!!!!
boah wär ick so gern dabei gewesen =)
@SeleniumRectifier True..but keep in mind when this song was written there was the Draft...now soldiers volunteer to serve and yah no president should be 'Commander in Chief ' if he has'nt experienced war
still cool
John Fogerty is one of the greatest rock and roll musicians of all time, but I would not say that he was CCR. His brother and the other members were very good artists too. He has all the rights in the world to play the songs though seeing that he wrote all of them.
@911urded dude this is CCR theyre old now. Fogerty was the lead singer and writer of this song
@dmeachy don't read their comments, people loves speaking instead of knowing. i absolutely agree with you: he is CCR
He'll yeah
This version is soo metal :p
Beasty!
This vid proves age is just a number
@slayer360150 Did you know that John Fogerty is CCR. CCR members include: John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. Sorry John is the real deal here. John Fogerty wrote this song about David Eisenhower, the grandson of President Dwight David Eisenhower who married Julie Nixon, the daughter of President Richard Nixon, in 1968. the actual covers include: Bob Seger, Pearl Jam, U2, Corrosion of Conformity, .38 Special, Circle Jerks, Kid Rock, W.A.S.P., and Bruce Springsteen.
@SeleniumRectifier
I think that's correct, he wrote many of the songs but he didn't get credit for them.
@SeleniumRectifier Yes, this song is written by John Fogerty, and he started CCR, turds...
alot of people dont know john served in the army but dident get sent to vietnam
@911urded this is ccrs version...john fogerty is ccr lol
The rhythm section's (too busy) arrangement lacks the ominous power of the original Creedence-this is almost like a speed metal version. Not that I'm complaining, that Fogerty is still around and at the top of his game is astounding.
Can't wait to see the Beacon Theater show in NYC in 2 weeks. He's playing the Green River album in its entirety.
and in linz !!
@jimmyjohnjohns You need mucles to generate distortion and growls and all that kind of stuff (trey're really just add-on:s to the singing voice), so when you get older, you just can't do them anymore, when your muscles wither by age.
The drummer nailed it!
Anyone here who know his name?
it's the amazing Kenny Aronoff and in my opinion he is the reason for this to be the best live performance of this song
I think John is missing his "Shouter Abilities", he had back in the days.
@SeleniumRectifier I so totally agree. Ever see the photo op of GW with the jogger who was minus both his lower limbs? A veteran of the Iraq War? I don't know how any of the men you mentioned sleep at night. They think they are playing some big game of Stratego, when in fact they have taken and they have ruined millions upon millions of lives. And for what? Can you spell profit?
@slayer360150 Please come back & write more cool comments based on your vast knowledge of Music , we miss u Bro :-)
The drummer - did he play with smashing Pumpkins for a while back on Adore?
0:12 Kenny goes, "Meh, I need a new stick..."
this guy played with The Smashing Pumpkins back in the "Adore" days...
Jack Marks has made a comment on John Fogerty "Fortunate Son" 2008 Chicago:
To be completely honest, I liked Skylar Laine singing this on American Idol, better than CCR. Then again, im only fifteen, so i dont really know the history behind the song
Who's the drummer on this? Totally Badass!!
