Thank you for making these videos so easy to understand for those of us who are new to this and are just now learning and do not know the lingo! You are my favorite educator in this area.
I know my equipment I searched for a vid so someone would understand. This was 100% direct simple and correct. Took over an hour and finally lol. Thanks for your video I saved it and I never do that.
This video is amazing! It is easy to follow. The narrator speaks slowly and enunciates the directions. Thank YOU so much for making this concise and truly helpful video.
This is the video I was looking for. Thank you so much 🙏 detailed step by step instructions because I am starting from no knowledge at all. Appreciated greatly 🙏
I am using an audio interface with two mics for my podcast. Can someone please help me with a query? I want to record two seperate audio files for both the mics, how can I do that?
@@AudioUniversitywith my solo it’s letting me hear game audio but no one in discord. My mic is working for them. I have it set as my input n output. I’ve set reaper up. I’m not sure what’s going on
Also - would LOVE to see you do a 'getting started with Reaper' as the web is full of older videos and the software has changed. but most importantly, you do such a killer job of explaining things, i think even a dummy like me could get to work with Reaper right away with your guidance. But we all have 'easy ideas' for other people to do, eh? ;)
That’s a great idea! The only thing that has kept me from doing it already is the vastness of what can be done in Reaper. What would you like to see demonstrated in a “getting started” video?
I am requesting some guidance and hope I am taken the right route. This setup is for a small church to stream to RUclips. We have a 16-channel analog sound board. My plan is to use the Focusrite Solo 4th generation to be the interface between the soundboard and a Win10 laptop using OBS. I am hopeful I can get some feedback on my plan. Your video is superb. You are masterful at explaining and providing the detail and explanation that so many others miss.
excellent video, clears almost everything. Although, for the Video conferencing part, is it possible to not use studio monitors and instead use an amp? If so, how will the set up look like?
can you do a video of full audio setup from mixers to amplifiers to speakers and audio interface for recording? Please show how all these are connected
Thanks 🙏 a million you’re dope!! Nice and simple and easy to understand with me having no previous experience with any of it but want to get started. I have maschine drum machine and software and Reasons it’s ten years old but I was told it doesn’t matter to still use.
great presentation.... but only up to the speakers connect part..... so where does the Arturia keylab mk2 connect to?.... it wud hav been a complete picture for the dumb beginner like me.... i still dont know.... my guess is from the mk2 usb C....connect to the laptop's 2nd usbA port..... ?
I want to record my vocal and karaoke together in scarlet solo audio interface. I want scarlet to record the karaoke sound directly by using input 2 to get sound from pc together with my vocal coming from input 1. People usually use guitar in input 2 but I want to use karaoke sound to use as input instead of guitar. Of course karaoke can be played in background and fed from input 2 using another mic but why not do it directly for better sound quality?
@websparrow I figured it out!! So I have a lewitt ray microphone and it turns out clip guard was the cause of my issue. Despite everything coming through my computer wasn't picking up my mic which was super weird turned off clip guard and BOOM it worked!
You may have to go in preferences like he said in the video. The problem should be solved when you go to your settings. Make sure you have it on "built in output". Then you should hear it through the speakers. If you have it on USB and your midi keyboard don't supply sounds you will need to switch your audio settings.
i have a question, if i have connected speakers and headphones to the interface, and wanna hear the music from headphones rather the speaker how do i switch?
What brought me here was to make sure my laptop worked with my 2i2 and my Presonus 5.25 monitors without low level hum from EMF or RF. If I understand you and others correctly, it is unbalanced cables that cause this? Thank you great video
If I have an audio interface with a single 1/4 input. Can I connect a Synth with separate 1/4 left/right line level outputs if I use a cable with separate 1/4 left/right TS ends and 1 x 1/4 TRS end?
Can you control the volume output for both the headphones (connected to front of interface) and speakers (connected to back of interface) independently? Or are they both controlled by only 1 knob the front?
How to use speaker mic directly with loudspeaker without pc? I want to use it for singing. It works with pc but does not work directly with speakers? Any insight?
The interface I use is the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 1, and I want to connect my gaming headset (I'll be switching to studio headphones soon). However, this doesn't work as intended. When I plug the 6.35mm jack into the headphone jack of the interface, I get sound, which seems great. But, my system stops receiving sound from the XLR line input until I disconnect the headphones. I've seen recommendations about "routing" the outputs and inputs correctly, but I'm unfamiliar with this term and unsure how to fix it. I hope someone in this great community can help me with this dilemma. Also, is it possible to turn a mono line input, into stereo by tweaking some settings?
im recording with my laptop camera using the volt2 for audio.....do i need to use ableton? im able to record both audio and video at the same time.....im not sure ifi need to use ableton....
Hi I hope this isn't a dumb question but I am having a conference and we have guest speakers that need to have audio output to PA speakers and also to a computer that will be live streaming will an audio interface be the way to do that?
Am I able to use guitar amps instead of speakers? I don't have any speakers. Edit: Also is the microphone required? I'm not planning on singing or recording vocals.
I thought I'd set the sound peaks just right, but in the end I didn't. The problem is that, on FL studio, I have no way of knowing whether "the peaks of [my] signal are about -18 to -12 dB" on the meter. I also realize that I've been given no way of adjusting the feedback delay when I installed my driver. Could someone help me here?
If I hook the speakers to the audio interface, would I need to hookup the power cable on the speakers as well or am I getting power from the audio interface? Thanks
I could really use some help trying to complete my problem. I’m trying to equalize my audio for gaming. I have focusrite solo and an older focusrite 6i6. Rode nt1a mic and studio headphones. I have a MacBook and windows laptop. Playing with Xbox i plan on using 3.5mm controller output to split mic and game audio. What software would you use to adjust audio? (Hopefully free. lol) and I’m just assuming i would have to be able to keep mic and game audio separate? Thanks in advance
Yes. Back in the day, I had an interface that couldn’t supply phantom power. In that case I used an external phantom power supply. Remember though: you only need phantom power for condenser mics and active dynamic mics.
Hey iSoundpro, I answered this question on your other comment. The short answer is “yes”. You can select what you hear while recording by using the “input monitoring” switches for each track in your DAW.
QUESTION: with an audio interface, can I listen to the music I’m making if I plug my headphones into the headphone monitoring area of the interface? Or will I only hear the microphone that’s plugged into it?
This video is super well-put together, but I'm wondering - do interfaces not usually have some way to output audio directly through the computer speakers when the DAW is open, i.e. are headphones/speakers necessary? I've been struggling for several hours with hearing my guitar through my computer speakers, and I wasn't sure if I literally can't do that, and I need to have headphones/speakers to plug in using the 1/4 inch or RCA cables or whatever
Just read your comment. I have just purchased a Scarlett Solo and when I run it through the PC (Bose) system, there is a delay. Did you manage to fix your issue and how? Any help appreciated.
I have laptop that support thunderbolt 4. Is focusrite thunderbolt asio better than regular focusrite usb asio if i use thunderbolt cable ? Will it give lower latency?

Appreciate the great tutorial , yours was the only one I was able to follow and actually work with headphones...!! Now i need to "funnel" my mics>mixer>RC-1 loop pedal> to DAW to PC speakers. Yes. You can use one speaker, but you’ll probably want headphones for recording so that the backing track isn’t recorded by the vocal microphone.
Yes. An interface, a Computer, a mic, and a pair of headphones is all you need!
True!
