This is really helpful, thank you! Excellent, clear and concise presentation. I especially appreciate how you covered some details that people are likely to run into while using a variety of systems/DAWs.
Another great video man! I finally got my Scarlett 18i20 and my Scarlett OctoPre. Can't wait to try them out and start recording with this ne multitrack recording setup! Keep up your great job!!!🤘🤘🤘
This video has helped me a lot. Thank you very much man🤙🏼 Now, do you think you can make a video showing how to connect the Scarlet 2i2 4th gen with a MoanoCasterE2? I need help😭
Great video! Question; I just got the 4th gen 2i2 and have two sm57’s because I have 2 guitar cabs, one on my left & one on my right for a wider sound. So how do I record both cabs with my mics and how do I set the tracks up in the DAW?
Very informative channel. I have a question, if you were spending your own money then which interface would you get between the scarlett 2i2 4th gen and the motu m2 for recording songs. I am pulling my hair out trying to decide between the two. Also how important and useful is the autotune software which comes with the 2i2.
Thanks a lot for the simple explanation. My wife and I would like to record our respective bass and electric guitar while playing along with a backing track playing on my computer. The bass and guitar use input 1+2 but how do I record the backing track that is playing on my computer (where my focusrite is connected to)?
Question: Does the 4th Gen 2i2 phantom power button "remember" the "on" position when power cycled? I have the 2nd Gen, and since it's a spring loaded button, it "remembers" my setting for my Input 2 which always has my condenser mic. Asking in case I look to upgrade.
Great video, I got my Scarlett 2i2 somewhat setup, and my mic can record. But what if I don't want to monitor through my headphones? I'm also not sure how the software bundle that comes with the Scarlett works. Is Abelton even worth using, does my Scarlett just come with a free or trial version? I tried recording and monioring with Audacity but I could only record and I heard nothing for monitoring.
Okay, I figured out that I had to hit the direct monitor button and had to turn up the monitor level pretty high to start to hear myself. But how can I set it up so that my computer speakers are my monitors? Is that possible or do I need a separate set of speakers? I don't always like wearing headphones.
So the thing that cost me the most time, was interfaces not working reliable when sampling rate and bit rate where set differently for different input and outputs. Both my arturia and Behringer interface were dropping then.
So far so good. however i am using STL tone hub and all i hear is clean tone.... how would I get Tone hub to come through the studio speakers? any help is greatly appreciated. frustrated af here
Coming here out of desperation. I've been having an issue where I only et a signal through channels 1 and 2 on my interface. I have the Tascam Model 12. When I go to the devices page I don't get a list of drivers or input-output selections to make. It's just selecting the device. Does anyone know anything about this?
Can you help? Because when I try to run a mic (SM58) direct to the focusrite (4th Gen) it does not have much gain or drive going into my laptop, and so - I run the mic to my preamp (Stagepass) and then run the outputs (speakers output) from the preamp into the linein jacks of the 4th Gen. Still (STILL) what gets recorded has low volume/gain/drive. I wanted to have it so that if doing a "talk" live stream I can have that full, hot, capturing mic but - unless I turn the 4th output up into the red - it comes out pretty weak unless I have my playback volume in the 90's to 100% when listen to this playback to test see how the live would have sounded. What can I do to solve this??? Would I be better to have my preamp output go into some bluetooth sending device that sends bluetooth direct to my laptop???? - Thank you!
I never choose my audio interface as the system sound (RUclips, Spotify, etc) output in my studio PC. I rather just use regular audio outputs of the PC and connect it to mixing desk's tape return or similar. That's an old habit from 1990's when Windows could change the sampling rate of the interface when playing system, sounds.
So I have a focusrite but that’s not even a recorder? Like I need something else to record on? I’m so fucking confused. I officially am ending my recording career. Can’t stand this shit.
Don’t know if this is satire/trolling or not, but you can get a decent sounding microphone for not that much money. The ATR2100 USB is around 60-80 dollars on Amazon.
I am 63 and am new to this. I find yytutorials clear and helpful. Thanks 🙏
I’m glad to help!
This video is awesome holy this guy is a great speaker one of the best presentations i've seen

Is a DAW recommended or should you really use it for your microphone?

Please make a video on Universal Audio Volt 1 vs Audient ID4 interface
I cover both of those interfaces in this video: ruclips.net/video/VJ_Ocb4K0Yw/видео.html

Good question. I haven’t paid attention to that so I’m not sure.

I have FL studio. Does it also work too?

Great video, thanks as always!
Side note, you doing ok? You look like you're having a rough go of it lately.
Thanks for asking. I appreciate that. All is good - it’s a busy time of year! Time for some rest.
Great ❤

Would beats plug into that audio jack or no?
You might need a 1/8” to 1/4” headphone adapter, but yes. Most wired headphones will work.

My mic makes no sound. Focusrite solo gen 4 and xlr mic audio technica 2040. Windows 11.
Did you figure out the problem?
inputs are not showing up in the device
