This entire band is ridiculously talented.. I cant wait for the Album. Between the drummers, Travis and Matt have different styles and bring different vibes to the music - personal expression of the music - and both equally good in their own right. To sum up: Periphery OWNS =p
I love how he screams the last chorus. I'm not sure if he planned it or had to because his voice was giving out, but it was cool as hell! I really like Chris as a singer and frontman.
I love Periphery! My new favorite band! :D And I think their new singer does a perfect job in all the songs! I haven't heard their old singer enough to compare the two, but I like the vocals as they are on the album, and I'm impatiently looking forward to their next release! ^^ Hopefully I'll be able to catch them live some time! ^^
maybe it's only my opinion, but Chris can't be replaced. His voice is not as good as Spencer's but his screams are the best in today's music industry. And he's so charismatic. Fucking brilliant guy.
I find it fucking funny that you see Matt tearing up a 3 piece, then in the background you see a big double bass set, and the drummer is probably nothing like Matt. Thank you Matt, for showing you don't need a huge set to be amazing or original.
Okay heres my 2 cents. all this crap about whos better between chris and spencer, and matt and travis is stupid. in my opinion if periphery picks you as their vocalist and sticks with you and is able to record a full album with you, youre damn good. Props to Spencer. And if you are a drummer and can keep up with Periphery's music, AND can improv your live performance, you fuckin win. Props to Matt. lol
@jacksonguitarsrule1 He does that in all the parts when he's not playing, its to keep the band in time with the backing track (coming through the monitors and matt's in-ears :)
ONLY thing I wish periphery could do(and possibly could do in the future) live are the vocal harmonies that are in the recordings, "Before they saw what i was becoming" etc etc
@theroan they might not be doing backflips and stuff, but from a musical stand point it's great. they amount of technique required to play this is really intense.
chris is an amazing singer. unbelievable, in fact. which makes me think the reason for not keeping him around is more one-dimensional than you all may think when you ask for him back. there's definitely a good fucking reason.
i got a shiver down my whole body at 2:28.... and again at 4:43... it was even more amazing seeing them live.... i could've shit myself and be proud of that steamer rolling down my leg...
@jacksonguitarsrule1 He play the cymbals there because because he's the drummer and he has to keep the time, unless all of them had in ear monitors connected to metronomes, he has to continue doing that.
"And when I said I'll never feel again, what I really ment was fucking pull the cause time is spent" Fuck I envy Chris screaming that.. would've been the utterly most epic moment of my life.
@Laihoistheman no, the cymbal setup is different and so are the toms between the bass drums. not sure if orbin even uses two bass drums or just double pedals.
on a contradictory note to my other comment, i noticed that the new drummer forgos alot of travis orbins kick "burst" fills in the end of icarus lives. i definitely miss that.
When i saw Periphery in New Jersey I talked to the singer Chris after the show. He said that Icaurs was going to be on their album. It should be pretty sick hearing it with his vox.
@ozuka16 I 'unno. It could just be an improvisation to get the crowd pumped or something. It doesn't sound like anything I've heard from Bulb's Soundclick or anything (example: 'Ringtone').
@MattixIcexBaby YES! Thank god someone speaks the truth about Spencer, i've got nothing against Chris and he did a good job... but Spencer rocks, the Periphery album has some of the best vocals i've ever heard :D
next time ill use a stronger sedative...
hello mister periphery!
the sounds Matt makes on such a small kit are just so fuckin' heavy. clearly one of the most creative and talented drummers out there.
damn they are going to be an amazing band in a few years. you can tell they're still new though. can't wait for their CD.
And here we are now. One of my favevorite bands out there
yea dawg
they have already become
you were damn right
realmente acertou
Crazy to see how far they've come since then.
Wow the drummer is so good so tight on every part amazing great band
Chris just sang with periphery last night in nyc, greatest thing to happen, ever.
matts drumming makes my jaw drop. everytime.
chris all day for me
LIGHT is my fav song from Periphery i hope they play it live when i see em
This entire band is ridiculously talented.. I cant wait for the Album.

Who's here after Periphery V
Matt is really awesome
I know! If these people only knew they were watching one of the best in the biz!
"The only man who can break three cymbals with one swing of the stick!"
I love Periphery! My new favorite band! :D
And I think their new singer does a perfect job in all the songs! I haven't heard their old singer enough to compare the two, but I like the vocals as they are on the album, and I'm impatiently looking forward to their next release! ^^

Band calls Monuments, and its sounds realy fuckin good, I was realy amazed to hear how Chris singin alive their songs
odie0220 has the best periphery vids from way back in the day...........
This drummer is like nobody i've ever seen man. These songs are like in his blood.
awesome. just awesome.
oh dear god that snare is just beautiful
fuck i wish i could have saw these guys. i love there music. i just wish i could have made it to a show.. i cant wait for a full length cd
At 3:12, Matt pretty much permanently melted my face.
woww awesome drumming
I'm totally stoked to see these guys on July 31st in Lubbock on the 2010 Thrash and Burn tour :D
this band fucking owns i can't believe they exist
i agree with ethan!! he's not fussy over his drum set ups, simple but still kickass!
maybe it's only my opinion, but Chris can't be replaced. His voice is not as good as Spencer's but his screams are the best in today's music industry. And he's so charismatic. Fucking brilliant guy.
heck yes. i played there.
@snorelaxascension oh..well i just started to listen to this band and wasn't sure. Thanks for letting me know
watch that drummer, what a groove!
class drummer!!!
I can't enough of Chris' voice! It's amazing!! =D
I can't help it... Alex is so cool :-) i love Periphery... can't wait for the CD
Amazing
these guys are sickkkk :DD
Love this band..
I REALLY hope the thing that they play for their intro is included on the album.
I'm betting this might just be the best album I'm ever going to buy.
@Laihoistheman the drumkit in the background is from the drummer of devildriver ( the headlining band in that tour )
I get headaches from hearing Periphery non-Instrumentals, but with Chris they sound really good
I find it fucking funny that you see Matt tearing up a 3 piece, then in the background you see a big double bass set, and the drummer is probably nothing like Matt. Thank you Matt, for showing you don't need a huge set to be amazing or original.
This band is AWESOME!
@SirVonRuch wow, that was well put, i feel the same way.
Okay heres my 2 cents. all this crap about whos better between chris and spencer, and matt and travis is stupid. in my opinion if periphery picks you as their vocalist and sticks with you and is able to record a full album with you, youre damn good. i came from the future to say that chris still has the best vocals in the genre
I too come from the future, its 2021 and the world is basically over but periphery is still around lol
8:24 - the end: i can totally see Misha going like "Matt you're supposed to be playing a normal patter.....MATT, WAT R U DOING! MATT, STAHP!!"
@theroan they might not be doing backflips and stuff, but from a musical stand point it's great. they amount of technique required to play this is really intense.
such an amazing drummer
chris is an amazing singer. unbelievable, in fact. which makes me think the reason for not keeping him around is more one-dimensional than you all may think when you ask for him back. there's definitely a good fucking reason.
what a kick ass drummer there! kudos to his simple kit as well!
that drummer gets fuckin props, that shit was impressive.
Finally a metal singer with an Afro :D
it sad we almost don't see Bulb in the entire video
Man, spencer looked way different back then
saw them last night, it was fucking amazing
i got a shiver down my whole body at 2:28.... and again at 4:43... it was even more amazing seeing them live.... i could've shit myself and be proud of that steamer rolling down my leg...
it is now officially old groove.
@jacksonguitarsrule1
He play the cymbals there because because he's the drummer and he has to keep the time, unless all of them had in ear monitors connected to metronomes, he has to continue doing that.
New Groove
"And when I said I'll never feel again, what I really ment was fucking pull the cause time is spent"
Fuck I envy Chris screaming that.. would've been the utterly most epic moment of my life.
absolutely brutal!! .. Can't wait for the new CD in April 2010
Just amazing
For real. 5 years? Wow.. Your badass dude. You can probably totally rock some disturbed songs. ...haha.
thank u man im soo glad Icarus lives is goin to be on it i was afraid it wasnt D:
amazing band, period.
@spitzndribble Liquid metal...Siriusxm, they have been playing Icarus lives for awhile now...
This might be my favourite Halpern performance
I saw him in Dallas last year around this time and it was just as amazing!
@Laihoistheman no, the cymbal setup is different and so are the toms between the bass drums. not sure if orbin even uses two bass drums or just double pedals.
Can't wait for peripherys first album :D
For half of a video, the 3rd guitarist was left out of the frame...
@mlceltic you're kidding! Look at them headbanging! They've got good stage presence man
They have really great stage presence too
most fucking awesome intro. ever.
on a contradictory note to my other comment, i noticed that the new drummer forgos alot of travis orbins kick "burst" fills in the end of icarus lives. i definitely miss that.
i love how bulb is such a badass guitarist....but looks so 'nice'
if you see them in concert it'll make more sense. they each play different types of parts in the songs.
Didn't realise that Ever Forthright's vocalist used to be in Periphery. Cool!
awesome videos man, thanks for uploading these
amazing!
imagine how many rythm patterns you can create with only one tom...it's whatever the musician wants to play...

When i saw Periphery in New Jersey I talked to the singer Chris after the show. He said that Icaurs was going to be on their album. It should be pretty sick hearing it with his vox.
bulb has so many songs on soundclick and has all the time in the world to write shit, he has his own recording studio and equiptment. its amazing
I like how he calls this "upstate" NY.
lol im directly under where you filmed this GREAT set this was my first time hearing these guys period. Love the unqiue sound
what the hell all you talking about spencer kicks ass! I admit that his growl is not that agressive but his clean vocal is much more high and strong
My Dream Theater ticket brought me here.
Holy fuck I was at this show lol I have a few videos recorded from that night
damn that drummer truly owns it
Honesty, Chris hits the notes in Icarus lives much much much stronger than their first live video with him.
Thumbs up if you couldn't take your eyes off Matt's drumming.
@Bruins8130 Yea, dont get me wrong Orbin is a FANTASTIC drummer, but im more about the "free flow" of things. Matt is a brilliant drummer.
Ahh..old periphery.
he also uses kits that small in recording, too. he just has a rack tom and sometimes a china added.
Matt is a fucking machine.
yes they have 3
nice...i noticed he has a really simple kit but he does a lot with it
I just realised they are playing with Dillinger tomorrow night in Melbourne... an I don't have a ticket.
Thumbs up for Matt Halpern!
