I was nowhere to be found because this was the sickest i was all tour, after the show i went into the van, dosed up on zicam and delsym and tried to sleep it off, sorry if that makes me a homosexual by your standards..
I love the solo in this song! It's so awesome, I love the phrasing, not overly technical, it just fits perfectly! And the start of the outro breakdown gives me chills! They need to hurry up and put out their album! can't wait!
No where to be found on the web, although it's probably hiding on Misha's computer. Before the album was released this was the teaser on Myspace with Chris on vocals, it sounded so good.
If I were a rich man, I'd personally pay for Chris to go into the studio and re-record all the vox to this album for the world's listening pleasure. :)
@SabianTamaDrummer True, but I think Casey Sabol was actually the one who wrote the clean parts. He definitely wrote most of the lyrics to this, but Chris did write some of them.
Yeah, Chris is amazing. His other projects will be great as well, he's a really good musician. It's sad he's not in Periphery anymore though. He was a perfect match for the band.
Holy crap. I came here to compare Chris Barretto to Spencer, after seeing someone in some youtube comments saying something rude about Chris. I gotta say, my first impression of him is actually pretty great. He's damn good.
You were sick?? Shitsucks Bulb, but i would gladly accept any infectious disease as long as it was from you! Man Its awesome to see how much this song has progressed over the years since you first posted it. The tapping part you added in is fucking beautiful!!! And the buildup/Breakdown at the end of the song gives me fucking chills. When you film your first Periphery music video you should do Letter Experiment!!
the first time i heard this song was on the cd and now hearing berreto's version im convinced that they should just ask him to come back and re record the album..lol
I think I've already posted on this one before, but I just gotta say. I really hope these guys don't restart their whole album under Sumerian. I hope the continue where they started and we get a full disc soon.
the key, i've discovered, to appreciating matt halpern is to think of him as the metal equivalent of a jazz drummer... the signs were there all along. big floppy cymbals, minimalist style, and highly improvisational performances. if you're expecting the verbatim performances of travis, you'll be disappointed... but if you think of matt in this new context, he does extremely well. he knows the time/tempo changes and the arrangements, but every performance will have its own touch... he's damn good
I honestly don't see why people are talking a dump on Spencer. From what I've heard on RUclips he's at least as good if not better than the others. He can hit notes the other guys couldn't.
Instead of downloading it from myspace I thought I might as well wait for the album to come out. Got the album and I head a different voice on it thinking WHAT THE FUCK! I've tried searching for it and haven't found it. Misha said he has a few demos of Chris not worth sharing.
This is how the sound was originally written... spencer filled for the album and when chris got kicked out of the band for unknown reasons, Spencer became the vocalist. This guy however wrote the lyrics and the pattering of the song.
i've watched this video a hundred times now and chris does such an amazing job... i know there are some videos out there where he goes off key, but this was right on the money. i just want to know what happened... did he blow out his voice? i mean the album was supposed to be out last year... so was that why they delayed it? how long have they known they were getting a new singer? they claim that the album is totally done now! they recorded new vocals totally under the radar...
Matt is the man. I honestly don't miss Orb, although he was an excellent drummer. Something about Matt's playing sounds better to my ears though. It's like he has a better feel for the timing and dynamics of each song. Can't wait for the official album and a tour that stops in Seattle (I hope).
I met Chris, the vocalist... by far the coolest musician i've ever met... i moshed in the pit with when veil of maya came on, and danced to michael jackson's thriller haha... misha was being too gay to hang out.
@FootballnSoccer Agree 100%. Chris's voice is a lot more "mature" sounding, especially his growls, which made parts like the end of this song and all of The Walk just waaay more hard-hitting and br00tal. Spencer's growls just... aren't demonic! I feel like he'd be better suited to something more like OMNOM. That said, I am still an enormous fan of this band and look forward to what new stuff they can create with Spencer.
i love spencer's clean voice, even heavily tuned on the album. I saw him live and he nailed it though. Chris really brought the energy out though. And chris had better screams.
Yeah, covering up the entire mic with your hands to do screams and growls really shows talent right there. Look at Spencer. Doesn't need that shit. And he have improved like hell the last year! Chris is good, but I believe Spencer's got the upper take to be honest.
@ 4:00 . . i've never heard spencer do it live, but if it's anything like the album , the melody there is absolutely beautiful. much better than the scream. chris is pro tho, but listen to the album - spencer is phenomenal too :D
Was he kicked out or did he quit? Regardless, I prefer his vocals on light and this song, and casey remains my favorite for icarus lives. I mean, I'm sure I'll grow to like the new vocalist, but the sampler really threw me for a loop.
spencers range is incredible. i'll give him that. but Chris seems to have a lot of warmth in his singing, and his growls/screams are vicious. the album sounds incredible, don't get me wrong, but i would have loved to see periphery live with chris on vocals before he stepped down.
periphery is fucking incredible. i can't wait for this album. I love chris, dont get me wrong, i just liked Casey more... bigger range. but Chris, you are NO slacker dude! keep it up!
Please. Don't ever delete these videos. These are historical documents!
Wow this was my first Thrash and Burn crazy to just stumble upon this
RIP The Chance 💔
pwned
I would've loved to see a studio version of this song with Chris on vocals haha
Chris is such a legend.
I was nowhere to be found because this was the sickest i was all tour, after the show i went into the van, dosed up on zicam and delsym and tried to sleep it off, sorry if that makes me a homosexual by your standards..
very impressed by chris's vocal performance here.
I would love to know what happened to Chris after monuments. He has such talent. One of my favorites vocalists for sure
i was just thinking the same thing, hopefully things work out for him because when that dude is on...untouchable.
Holy SH**!!! They're getting better and better! Chris' vocals are getting awesomely good! o__o
Earth will stop the day Periphery Launch an Album. 5/5
Agreed. Best modern metal band I've ever heard. I'm so happy they got signed. They deserve it.
Gerard King I heard it too man. Chris’s vocals were phenomenal in that song.
Periphery is fucking beautiful. The music just speaks to you.
If I were a rich man, I'd personally pay for Chris to go into the studio and re-record all the vox to this album for the world's listening pleasure. :)
one of the best periph choruses i have ever heard!!! so epic and melodic
Chris is pretty awesome live after all, and I really like how this song has turned out
yeah awesome combo
What a treat! Thanks for sharing 😊
This is periphery god damnit!
this band has grown so much, that was awsome!
One of my favorite outros. Absolutely devastating.
God, next chance I get i'm gonna go see these guys.
Also with Friend For A Foe. Both are amazing.
Can't wait to hear this song on THE ALBUM!!!!
@SabianTamaDrummer True, but I think Casey Sabol was actually the one who wrote the clean parts. He definitely wrote most of the lyrics to this, but Chris did write some of them.
so fucking awesomee, periphery is the new shit!!
I fucking love his music!!
how lucky you guys are!!!! to have the chance of see them live!
i'm so glad i finally found this lol. the only version with chris..
I love the outro breakdown. SO MUCH.
Less than three, best live quality I have seen yet
@FootballnSoccer YES OMG Buttersnips is SOOOO brootal and awesome!!
yea tour Australia NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it me or does Matt make that 3 piece set sound as if it were a monster set!?
They are touring with Veil of Maya and Animals as leaders very soon! I hope I can get out to see them, would be sweet!
3:35 came back here for the clean part in 2020.
this has been the best line up
the breakdown still gives me chills. chris will be missed.
I second this.
I would pay so much to hear the new cd with chris on it
I really like the way Chris hits the notes when he sings the word "listening" at 3:53
Omg There really good live. jeez
He is the best live singer EVAR!
Who Is watching this in 2018?
I'm still wondering what would be Happened if Chris were With periphery. I like spencer too but I preffer Chris' cleans
Alex Bois was great too. This line up is unforgettable.
holy fuck i cannot wait for them to release their album.
yeah they are continuing it, they just signed to sumerian to get it released when its finished, hopefully somewhere first half of '10
periphery is awesome.
bulb = beast
Talk about the working man's band. Periphery is SOOOO fucking good. They've already made my top 3 metal bands.
Yeah, Chris is amazing. His other projects will be great as well, he's a really good musician. It's sad he's not in Periphery anymore though. He was a perfect match for the band.
3:37 is so amazing. it gives me chills every time
Holy crap. I came here to compare Chris Barretto to Spencer, after seeing someone in some youtube comments saying something rude about Chris. I gotta say, my first impression of him is actually pretty great. He's damn good.
I want to see them go on tour with.
BTBAM and Protest the Hero. That would be an amazing metal show.
@thefoosa72 he's extremely accurate in both his scream and clean vocals. Please explain your comment.
the first time i heard this song was on the cd and now hearing berreto's version im convinced that they should just ask him to come back and re record the album..lol
@NoaTheEvil 7, mostly, sometimes on 6.
Yeah i was, being sick on tour is pretty much the worst thing ever.
I think I've already posted on this one before, but I just gotta say. I really hope these guys don't restart their whole album under Sumerian. I hope the continue where they started and we get a full disc soon.
I just noticed their old logo
People complaining about Spencer not being good, go listen 2 the album! Sounds fucking amazing!
3 I think. Jake Veredika, Casey Sabol and Chris Baretto. There might have been one other but I dunno.
0:32 YO ALEX !
I guess I'm the only one who prefers Spencer? His clean vocals are outstanding.
almost too groovy! nice work lads.
@NoiseMaker231 good point :)
listen to the version of walk on spencer's myspace. he improved his screams a lot
@thefoosa72 Yeah, I usually dig screamers more but Spencer has one of the most wide ranges in metal that I've ever heard.
Kinda wish this was still a thing… 😔
When misha starts his little tapping part, the bouncer in front of the stage cant help but turn his head to see what was blowing his mind.
one tom for the win.
What's Carlito doing in Periphery?
the key, i've discovered, to appreciating matt halpern is to think of him as the metal equivalent of a jazz drummer... the signs were there all along. big floppy cymbals, minimalist style, and highly improvisational performances. if you're expecting the verbatim performances of travis, you'll be disappointed... but if you think of matt in this new context, he does extremely well. he knows the time/tempo changes and the arrangements, but every performance will have its own touch... he's damn good
I wish Chris was always their vocalist.
I honestly don't see why people are talking a dump on Spencer. From what I've heard on RUclips he's at least as good if not better than the others. He can hit notes the other guys couldn't.

Gerard King Dude me too Misha is an ass for not sharing those demos to the metal world. Chris is a way better singer than Spencer.
2:00 that vocal line over the tapping should've been in the recording
This is how the sound was originally written... spencer filled for the album and when chris got kicked out of the band for unknown reasons, Spencer became the vocalist. This guy however wrote the lyrics and the pattering of the song.
Casey wrote the lyrics actually
@chainsawcarroll I don't know, the new stuff that's been popping up from the Thrash and Burn 2010 tour has sounded pretty fuckin' badass...
@BlurredVisi0n sounds pretty decent in this video!
Zooming in on the solo parts would've made this video much much much more better.
@NoaTheEvil
6,7,8 strings
i've watched this video a hundred times now and chris does such an amazing job... i know there are some videos out there where he goes off key, but this was right on the money. i just want to know what happened... did he blow out his voice? i mean the album was supposed to be out last year... so was that why they delayed it? how long have they known they were getting a new singer? they claim that the album is totally done now! they recorded new vocals totally under the radar...

@MyEggIsBoiled I think it's a Dingwall.
Can anyone here tell me what kind of bass is being used here?
Do you still have the teaser? I remember getting it but I lost it.
FUCK YEAH lol
I met Chris, the vocalist... by far the coolest musician i've ever met... i moshed in the pit with when veil of maya came on, and danced to michael jackson's thriller haha...
misha was being too gay to hang out.

That is a surprisingly minimalistic drum set he's got. Awesome. lol
Yeah, covering up the entire mic with your hands to do screams and growls really shows talent right there. Look at Spencer. Doesn't need that shit. And he have improved like hell the last year! Chris is good, but I believe Spencer's got the upper take to be honest.
Esupano3 Nah!
ROW
i didnt know matt was already in the band at this time
I also don't know the reason why he got kicked out, and after hearing the album clip, I'm sure that I prefer Chris' Vocals to Spencer's...
does anyone know what Chris sings at 4:47-the end?
@xoninmuoshda Alex is
@ 4:00 . . i've never heard spencer do it live, but if it's anything like the album , the melody there is absolutely beautiful. much better than the scream.
chris is pro tho, but listen to the album - spencer is phenomenal too :D

@FootballnSoccer seriously??? have you not heard the rest of the cd?? Those are the two weakest songs on there lol. Fucking LOVE this band
spencers range is incredible. i'll give him that. but Chris seems to have a lot of warmth in his singing, and his growls/screams are vicious. the album sounds incredible, don't get me wrong, but i would have loved to see periphery live with chris on vocals before he stepped down.
