The technical part in how they made it move is really impressive. Movement of all the other large creatures in Subnautica is kinda janky, but the way this thing moves is beautiful.
they use a system where the head follows an invisible "node" or object that guides where the head goes. Then the tail and other segments follow that, rather than trying to stay behind the head segment like the reaper, ghost and others do for the most part. Then make it have a lower turning radius so it can't snap around in 1 movement and it combines to make a really fluid eel like body. There is obviously going to be clipping into the landscape as it can't be helped with how subnautica itself is built, but they've done really well on making sure that the gargs are spawned in areas where it would be at a minimum. Obviously its a simplified version of all the technical details behind it, but is a start as to how they are able to make something so large work so well.
@Fëanor-291 I’m really tired of people saying this - it’s just straight up misinfomation The head in the Tree Cove (Ghost Forest sorry) is a juvenile, and the big one in the Bone Fields is by all means the adult version
That site you couldn’t access was the station that the egg was stored, hatch it to get the baby Garg who becomes your friend, take it to the void and the adult Garg won’t do anything to you
The Garg Skeleton in the lost river was in the original game, the mod added the Architect structure on top of it tho. The skeleton was used as reference material for the mod to base the Garg on
We were waiting for this, it was inevitable that you’d play this mod. For me I was disappointed that we never got to see any live colossal leviathan in the game. This mod gave me what I wanted in the dead zone. Absolute terror and a creature that’s so big it’s hard to comprehend. This’ll be good
I recall a few days ago I commented on your Subnautica video: "You don't wanna know what a Gargantuan Leviathan is?" And I am glad you did a video on it! Liked and subbed
SAME BRO, im watching the older series and he's scares really easily, now i cant even play this mod and i rlly want to see how he will progress with the thalassophobia
Butch, every day with one of your Subnautica videos is pure gold! :D No one does 'hilarious underwater panic' quite like you-watching you square up to your fears while making us laugh till we cry is an art form at this point.
Warpers and for some reason the first Sea Emporer’s telepathy section always jumpscare me, I was building a base next to the juvenile Garg in creative and nearly chucked my mouse
I'm confused a bit, is there a way to get this mod? I looked for it like half a year ago and it wasn't available for majority of people, just few youtubers. is it available now?
Well done going out there! The garg is so big you can't even get a good reference of its size lol. Always enjoy your videos, and love the quality of your work! Be warned: the other commenters are going to want you to next play the mod, Call of the Void, whenever you can get access to it. For you, that one might not be possible. I mean that for the sake of your sanity and your best interests at heart. That mod is the nightmare you didn't realize could get any worse, brought to life.
What you should do is to hatch the lage egg pick up the baby garg and drop it in front of the huge gargantuan and see something amazing. It will become still and not attack you.
17:32 Yeah creatures can occasionally clip through the walls into areas that are supposed to be out of water. You’re lucky the Ghost seemed to be ignoring you, the times that happened to me it was one of the smaller predators but they were totally angry and kept swimming through the air at me trying to attack me. And let me tell you there’s something extra scary about an angry fish that can swim through the air to attack. One time somehow a Stalker got brought along into the deep lava zone alien base when I used one of the teleport gates to travel there and the thing was absolutely mental, usually they’re pretty chill but this thing had some sort of personal vendetta against my prawn suit and wouldn’t leave it alone. Anyway congrats on facing the Garg, it looks totally cool and also terrifying.
As a Subnautica veteran (550+ hrs), it became a lot less scary when I realized that you can outrun 100% of the creatures in this game. In your Seamoth at full speed, nothing can catch you (Reaper included), and all will give up within a couple seconds. If you just tap your SPDS once, they will retreat immediately. (The only two exceptions are the ghost and sea dragon leviathans, but neither are part of regular gameplay. The first is put there by the devs to keep you on the map and are designed to catch you. The second is an endgame story creature encountered only once.)
I honestly always get so hyped when I see your videos pop up. Subnautica isn't my cup of tea but even that I watch from start to finish! Really enjoyed your WoW series as I just love you see discover new worlds and get immersed into them. That brings me to a question: Have you ever thought about playing FFXIV (Final Fantasy 14 Online) the same way (or a similar way, given it's more story locked) as you did WoW? Again, much of the world is locked behind the story so you can't just explore it as freely right off the start - but maybe you can dabble more into the social world of player hosted events and venues. Always love the interactions you have with others as a new player, and I'm sure there are great people to meet there, too! Just thought I'd throw that out there!
Little fun fact: The largest creature that’s still alive in subnautica below zero is the adult ventgarden. Because unlike the crater where the largest living creature is the gargantuan leviathan there’s no evidence that gargantuan leviathan’s lived in the colder water’s of 4546B and A very likely reason is that the waters would be much to shallow for them to survive.
Lmao that ending "Bish you betta sub" ahaha, I didn't suggest this, listen don't lump me in there with "those folks who suggested the mod" lol :') I hope you had a super new year, and holy crap lol. Even I get freaked out at this stuff. You're a champ
fun fact! the gargantuan leviathan has 3 categories Adult - in the void Juvenile - in the dunes, blood kelp zone (not trench), northern part of the mountains biome and the crash zone Baby - can be hatched using the egg that is in the chamber that you couldnt unlock (currently the display shows a weird yellow tablet but its actually just a purple one that you need) so what you found at the blood kelp place near the ghost skulls is a juvenile :)
If you think about it, it kinda makes sense that Garg doesnt instantly attack you (unless provoked). After all, the player for him is what are ants like for us. Garg is fascinating, yet terrifying creature
The funny thing is that it’s a real thing in subnautica you can find it’s skeleton and it’s huge and it’s just a child, the one that gut the sunbeam is an adult, subnautica responded to this mod saying this is the most accurate gargantuan leviathan to their game so they did this mod perfectly
The juvenile doesn't seem to be scary because it doesn't seem that aggressive, and you can always see it the adult is horrific though because its surrounded by absolutely NOTHING.
You know what’s more terrifying? In the real ocean, visibility is far too poor to make out a creature of that size in its entirety, but you would absolutely know it’s there by its effect on the water… for wherever it would go, it would be wrapped in a torrent of water pulled in tow. You would get sucked into its wake, moving through the ocean against your will at speed you’d never thought possible. One moment you’re in the bright shallows and a split second later in the dark depths. Such a creature would most like;y use this as a tactic to disorient its prey…
What is with greg and his friend from the capsul bro never put them back and deletwd them with the world i placed them like over 2 years ago and its sad to see them go like this😢😢😢
Very good job men. Im too scary to go to normal void with no mods, but when i install this mod and i see this gigantic shit insta alt+f4 xD. Very impresive you did it and beat you fear.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Fun fact! If you were to compare the garg that ate the sunbeam and the void garg, the sunbeam garg is significantly bigger than the void garg and can probably instantly swallow a cyclops... or maybe a few.
Do Subnautica with a heart rate monitor and if you get too high of a bpm you gotta do certain challenges that involve the ocean or deep bodies of water in some way
Butch and the Garg? Never expected to see that.. but you have to admit it is kinda beautiful.. especially those eyes locked onto you.. I do wonder, will you ever try out Subnautica: The Red Plaque? I think act 1 has been officially released but dont quote me on that
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA i swear to god if you dont like and subscribe after all that i dont know what else to say...
Been subbed since the very first episode
you didn't kill garga yet tho :)
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this for awhile.
Got my sub bro. You're great content 👏
This is like a New Year's gift.
By the way Happy New Year whoever reads this.
The technical part in how they made it move is really impressive. Movement of all the other large creatures in Subnautica is kinda janky, but the way this thing moves is beautiful.
The head still is a bit janky but I love how smooth the tail moves

It is indeed beautiful. But only when is moving away from me.
That because the actual devs helped them fix it
For those who didn’t know, the gargantuan leviathan skeleton is in the regular game. However the living version isn’t.
yeah i was about to comment about that
Its just juvenile
@Fëanor-291 I’m really tired of people saying this - it’s just straight up misinfomation
The head in the Tree Cove (Ghost Forest sorry) is a juvenile, and the big one in the Bone Fields is by all means the adult version
@Ozeglion first: i meant the skeleton skull in the tree cove, second: okay? It aint misinformation. It true (for ne of em)
Thank you for clarifying! My dumb ass struggled to remember what was what from the original game 🤦
That site you couldn’t access was the station that the egg was stored, hatch it to get the baby Garg who becomes your friend, take it to the void and the adult Garg won’t do anything to you
Real?
Is this real??
@@Godspeed79582Yes It is

why would the garg not attack you, dont they literally even eat others of their kind?
ButchX3: Presents his videos in a family friendly kind of way.
Also ButchX3: i was balls deep into this game.

The skeleton was used as reference material for the mod to base the Garg on
As well as that amazing black and white concept art with the miniscule seamoth for size reference
This mod didn’t come up with the garg’s design, Anthomnia and Tapwing did.

As someone with Submechanaphobia using subnautica to help, THIS THING IS FUCKING TERRIFYING OMG IM GOING TO DIE
They said Subnautica wasnt intended to be a horror game... Whoever created this mod.... CANT Use the same excuse.

Awe you didn’t get to play with the baby garg. If you hatch the egg you can play with it and it’s not hostile.
The one thing you should've seen is when you get out out of your seamoth if you did the Gargs roar would shatter your mask
51:57 Naaah, my man has talasophobia, and the game is like: Wait for it... wait for it.... NOW SPAWN IT ON HIM!!!
