This an unhurried, distinctive and moving rendition delineating the beauty of Behag. I loved he Tabla player for his restraint in not dominating the Sitar.
Listening BEHAG played by ANUPAMAJI and Subhjyotiji is a CELESTIAL EXPERIENCE. They take you out of this WORLD. ONE FORGETS ALL THE TENSIONS AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE MET GOD. GOD BLESS BOTH.
She is 'besting' the stalwarts! What more can be said than that? This could probably be the best Behag rendition that I have heard! Such sweetness, depth and skill !!
Two things stand out in this divine performance.. the maturity in performance that comes with Tapasya & Sadhanaa.. it was a near ecstasy experience for me... ❤️❤️❤️ Could not stop and walk away... Had to control my urge to deal with other "priorities" and decided to make watching & listening to this performance a priority...
I got a good sleep in the afternoon after listening to it and my weekend more memorable. What else happiness is needed for a musician when the audience is getting sleep. Music is art which be used to make babies sleep .. like me..!!
ANUPAMA IS AN AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE MUSICIAN ..never heard this level of improvisational skills and sheer melodic sweetness ! Your tabla playing is really quite exceptional, thank you.I keep coming back to this video every day and now every few days...You guys really "killed" it in a BIG BIG way here. I do have musician ears after all!!
Glad to have discovered the beautiful playing of this soulful princess. Her expressive skills and timing touch me like the playing of the late Nikhil Banerjee.
I shared with this preface " Live concert in 2012 ...this RAG BEHAG by these 2 consummate artists who express subtlety and movement of the sublime kind. I AM AWESTRUCK with Anupama's depth of talent, understanding and improv on this raga. The tabla player is totally chilling with unique poly rhythms not usually done by other tabla accompanists. He is an expert accompanist ...not overplaying or too loud. I keep coming back to this recital over and over. Kya bath ...🤗🌄🔥🌄🔥🌄🔥♥️😇🎶🎵🎶🎵"
i'm amazed at the sound of the sitar... the genius design... the sympathetic strings below the playing strings have such amazing resonance. it seems to me that the way this instrument sounds inspired the prominent phrygian dominant mode that all classical Indian music is based around.
You are absolutely right Mr. Pundhir. She has acquired many sweet shades of Pt.Nikhil Banerjee. Beautiful right and left hand combination to produce tunes she likes.By this virtue she produces such melodious star.
Anupama is a rare talent who simultaneously plays the same Swara in both the Lower and Middle Octaves , for example, Shudh Gandhara , she plucks both the Swaras in one strum . With Age and Experience she is bound to scale upwards in her Musical Sojourn. Dr.C.V.Gopal , Chennai.
How was it live? Yes it is amazing...all of it..the full hour of improv. I happen to be a musician and I am usually super critical listener. This recital was in the "zone" all the way. And I keep listening and re-listening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every 2 days or so.
Awesome performance. It is sonorous and soul. I love listening to and desire listening continuously. Incredible playing on adroitly and ambidexterously. Absolutely delicate, delicious it is.
Thanks so much for posting this. She is very talented. Mita Nag is another wonderful female sitarist, and I had the honour of seeing her play several years ago with her incredible father. I have met Subhajyoti Guha on several occasions, and in addition to being a good tabla player, I found him to be a really nice fellow.
this lady's recital does remind one of the near-spiritual and charmingly sweet playing style of the iconic Pt Nikhil Banerjee may ms anupama bhagwat keep us enthralled with her recitals for years to come God Bless her
Anupama. Great performance. The world is a better place with you in it "waking up" souls like myself. Pls come to bangalore sometime ! would love to see you in person.
oh my gosh this recording was excellent -- normally indian classical music stage recordings are lacklustre do not do justice to the sound of sitar -- BUT WHOEVER DID THIS, YOU HAVE used top quality recording tech or something to give it this resonance ! THANK YOU !!

Thanks. It is good to see young people so adept at keeping India's classical music tradition alive and moving forward.
Cecil Treadwell nlkhll.nikhilb
Cecil Treadwell - that is high praise, indeed. If you are not aware of Mita Nag, you may also love her playing.
She follows the basic style of Vilayat Khans Gayaki ang
The dedication to the instruments and the music is absolutely immense, played with passion and soul. Fantastic musicians.Truly a pleasure to watch !

I'm no expert, but this is the best thing I've ever heard on a sitar. Just sublime.
She is my favourite, listening for last few years.
You play with such ease and confidence Anupama! Excellent rendition. Lifts the soul into a realm of bliss.
Excellent and super command on instrument. My sister is very found of you.
She is another genius in the making with the shades of Pandit Nikhil Banerjee.. what a rendition of Behag.. mesmerising truly
Seems more close to PBM and USP .
Basic structure is that of Vilayat Khans Gayaki ang

Such a brilliant collaboration between such an unassuming duo! So sublime and yet so profound!
You bring tears of joy. Mega star in the making! God bless you.
Beautiful presentation of th raga, full control over th instrument, nd equally good recording culminated here……..fr a perfect bloom of Behag.
Beautiful presentation with purity of raga behag.Being a student of raga sangeet I follow and respect her.
