Ngl I miss the early street racing days of RUclips with 1320 video and early boostedboiz days. Especially when they would go out to the car meets and do runs after. Now it seems like every police agency actively follow and watch peoples social media to catch them. it’s probably good but man where some of those videos so damn good.

A clapped out frs/brz/86 is a great car to learn road racing in. Not so fast that you can get yourself into big trouble but fast enough to learn about keeping momentum and keeping the car connected to the track through the corner.

Hehehe. One night my best buddy and I made a speed run on a 70 mile trip back home. Normally it was an 90 minute ride. We did it in 35 minutes. At one point on the dead straight road section that was nine miles long he looked over at the speedo and said “You know you’re going to jail if we get stopped, right?” A few minutes later as we were about to hit the last road to home we saw a county boy had somebody pulled over ahead of us. The run ended for us at that moment. Cruised by nice and slow and got home safely. I know we could have made the run under 30 minutes if it weren’t for that sobering encounter. Bonus fun fact: This was in my Volvo 740 I had back then. Car just got smoother the faster it went.

Where I live we have some people who are car guys with private roads. If you want to run it on the street they’ll let people go on their road and run it. The big picture is that no part of racing is safe no matter if it’s a street race or a sanctioned event it’s not safe. That being said there are ways to minimize the dangers of racing. Motorsports have a bunch of rules and regulations for safety but for a street race you can’t really do that. The next best thing is to take it somewhere away from other people and try to make it as safe as possible that way. When I was younger we lost a lot of friends to street racing whether that be them getting arrested or them getting into terrible crashes. Since we’ve swapped over to a private road we haven’t lost a single person and that’s saying a lot since now everyone has at least 400hp where as before a lot of people barely even had 200. A good half of us have 800 to 1400 horsepower whether that be turbo ls power or procharged coyote power or a civic with a laptop.

You know plenty of people who could get you really started in drift plus you know a guy who owns a track. It is really just a matter of picking a chassis and motor combo. A good start would be a miata and LS. That would also give you some experience with V8s.

Definitely not worth street racing. I got friends that prefer street racing because "you have more room to go fast", not for me though. Sure, seeing what your car tops out at is cool, but trying to do that with someone else beside me on the street requires more trust in the other guy than I'm willing to give lol. At least at a track there's a whole team of people specialized in helping there ready to help.

@@PookieBuilt lmao you can do it for 12k, its not that difficut. Drag racing is not a super skilled motorsport. Rally is the hardest and most skill. ITs hours of pull pinned through a thousand different road surfaces lmao. Yes it can be time consuming to go 200, but it can be done really really cheap. 12k you can get two wheels over 200, and 20-25k you can get 4 wheels at 200.

The old ones definitely not the new ones. They invented a fancy active aero system called “ALA” in the Huracan and the performante had the Nurburgring lap record and then the SVJ held it for awhile when that came out. It’s not the 80s anymore.
