      Why not make use the Mustang name as a trim level?

    • @michaelramsey82
      @michaelramsey82 2 года назад +3

      @@Tony_Man I'd argue that would be worse than what they did. As much as it bothers the purists, the decision they made certainly worked. If they called it something else, this car would have blended into the sea of electric crossovers on the market right now, and nobody would have given it much thought. By making it more sport-oriented and giving it the Mustang name, they got people to talk about it. People pretend the Mustang name is some kind of high honor only bestowed upon the finest racing machines, but the original Mustang was just a dressed-up Falcon - an economy compact at the time - and they even had the audacity to use the name on the Mustang II, which was just a dressed-up Pinto and didn't even have the original's good looks to make it worthwhile. The Mustang name has been used on some great cars, but it's been on some crappy ones as well, and all in all, the Mach-E is by car one of the better vehicles to wear the badge. And for those still upset about it being a 4-door, don't forget that there was a sedan prototype built in '64 - they just didn't end up producing it because, at the time, the 2-door body style was considered usable for a family car (and, indeed, it was even marketed as such). The Mustang has been a lot of things over the past fifty-some years, and for those willing to ignore the keyboard warriors and look at it objectively, the Mach-E is a better than average Mustang in almost every measurable way.

    When you were getting on the freeway and was accelerating I was wondering if you were going to go off the road or not. LOL.. It really accelerated fast... you got up to 80 mph with no problem. 40 mph just taking off around the corner onto the ramp.. Amazing Car... I'm unlike most people here.. We have an 06 gt. and when you first take off you cannot floor it. The back end is to light and you literally fish tale and loose control. There is an art to launching it. I always said they should make an all wheel drive one for launching and bad weather driving. With that said if you look at the Mach 1 it has a hatch back look to it. I think its a cool car and I'm okay with them calling it a mustang. I will buy one for sure.

They're both food, I guess, but nobody is cross-shopping a Mach-E with a restored '67 fastback or something like that (although you could easily spend the same amount of money on either). This was never going to be a classic Mustang, because it couldn't possibly be - they're separated by over half a century of engineering, technology, and changes in what's expected from a car. Both are great in their own way, and I don't think comparing them directly does favors to either one.

That said as much as this is my Dream car I'll most likely end up with a gas stang. Because of the price of $36k for an Ecoboost premium as opposed to $50k for a Mach-E premium and mod options. So I hope they update the gas stang in 2022 with a better interior, AI, and steering feel. Like, I would be more inclined to buy an EV if it literally was a copy paste of a base Toyota Camry/Hyundai Elantra, just with an electric engine. Like, trying to turn traction control off in this video, you had to make an edit to find the stupid button. A lot of people are upset about Ford using the Mustang name for this, but honestly, from a marketing perspective, it's a great idea. Obviously to non-car enthusiasts no one will know what the hell a "Mache-E" is, but slap the "Mustang" name in front of it and it'll generate quite a bit of interest....

    I test drove the 2021 model y recently and was impressed by the power and responsive screen.
    The downside was lack of familiar buttons, having to rely mainly on the touchscreen.
    That said, I might get the y and have one reserved. But I'm planning on test driving a mach-e premium this week to compare to the y. We'll see....

    Now using Mustang name here is a double edge sword, it will sell well, among not mustang enthusiasts and ppl who don't like driving , but try to sell Mustang as a sports car/or in the future sportscuvcoupe ( like those weierd BMWs and MBs) when name is associated with school bussing and weekly grocery runs

    I have a 2018 Ford Ecosport SES and this is regarding the display screen. I know that when it gets super cold in the morning, and I forget to let my car warm up, the touch screen is extremely delayed. I’m assuming this is because of the cold weather. Eventually the screen response a lot faster once the interior of the car is warmed up.

    Good review. Kudos to Ford for producing a fantastic crossover EV! We have a Model Y and the only reason I still think the Y wins over the Mach E is the Tesla charging network....in the Y, trips are a bit annoying when you have to stop and charge every few hours but in every other EV, it's far worse. As you state, for people as a daily driver second car, the Mach E is fantastic, please buy this over any ICE car!

      @@jaron3259 it just needs better hardware, i dont even mind its look so much, yea its odd and sticks out. but my big issue is the lag, if your gonna make the entire car control with one screen that screen better be at least 90hz and have the hardware to run at 90 all day with 0 lag. like Topher said, it needs to control like a modern smartphone, not an 80$ 5 year old tablet. for the price of this car, that screen looks likes absolute garbage and there's no firmware updates that are gonna change the fact that its got underpowered hardware.
