I eat medjool dates year round, but I have found that once I’m pregnant they taste “too sweet” to me and I struggle to eat them unless I stick a cashew or some nut butter in there. I’ve also made some recipes with them subbing dates for the sugar, and that helps me tolerate them a lot better. They are so delicious! I don’t know why but it’s a cruel irony that when I’m pregnant I struggle to incorporate them into my diet 😂
I love dates! I eat them all the time not because of the benefits for labour, but because they are an amazing snack! I like to fill mine with almond butter too, drizzle some melted chocolate and top with chia seeds for some crunch!
I love eating my dates frozen with 100% dark chocolate. I love the texture when they are frozen--super chewy--and the super bitterness of the chocolate is totally offset by the sweet dates! It is a great mix and makes a chocolate treat, guilt free, processed sugar free, and really enjoyable as opposed to how bitter the dark chocolate can be.
I had a really good calzone with dates, salami, ricotta cheese, garlic herb cheese, and mozzarella from my works lunch catering last week. This week I've been putting cream cheese, salami, and dates on a cheese bagel. You can add dates to smoothies at Smoothie King too. Some of their smoothies already have dates as an ingredient such as the Pumpkin D-Light.
Dates I do believe just make labor easier and faster, doesn't make you all a sudden go into labor from my research. I love eating them with powdered sugar, cinnamon, and almond butter.
@@deeavv i consumed about 8 dates a day for 8 ish weeks prior to due date, i was a week past due but I delivered him in 4 hrs. Had a very easy labor. Good luck to you! ♡
@@lysemmy Wow. I've been searching online for ttesrimonies about this. I'm 26 weeks pregnant currently and looking for natural ways to make labor quicker and easier for me 😂 Want to give birth naturally but I'm petrified of the pain😅
There is nothing said about why Dates should help though? If you go to the study it actually says: No significant differences were observed between the date fruit consumers and their counterparts regarding cervical dilatation; rupture of membranes; strength, frequency, and regularity of uterine contractions; tocometric reports; and maternal progression factors. The study did however "show a promising effect" (whatever that means) concerning the duration of labour. I still think this is all just a corelation, but in the end, if eating dates make you feel better prepared for birth - go at it - everything that helps you go in to birth more confident is a good thing!
Hi Alice! Are you able to link the studies? My naturopath wasn't aware of the research and asked me to forward the studies for her to review. She already recommends RRL tea and EPO.
You'd be surprised how many foods have bugs in them - fresh fruit, frozen fruit/veggies, etc. For example, when you buy coffee beans, there is a high chance you are drinking roasted beetles too! They look similar to the bean, so hard for them to be removed. Extra protein I guess haha!
Thank you, Alice! Great advice and love the almond butter idea. ☺️ I was researching date brands on Amazon, and was getting overwhelmed by the negative bug reviews. So I'm sticking with the Sun sweet brand that you can easily find at the grocery store. I wonder if you get the same benefits from snack bars like Lara or RX bars? Dates are the primary ingredient, though I'm not sure how many are included in each bar.
How many dates i should eat per day because I’m pregnant for 19 weeks now? I hope it works because I want to gave birth naturally soon. Thank u and Godbless
Hi Alice, thanks for this informational video, love it! I’ll be 34 weeks tomorrow, 10/24/22. Is it too early to start eating them or should I hold off until week 36?

Love the idea of subbing dates for sugar!
Eat Ajwa Dates... They are the best. Less Sweet, Lesser Carbs, Highest in Iron..
I love dates! I eat them all the time not because of the benefits for labour, but because they are an amazing snack! I like to fill mine with almond butter too, drizzle some melted chocolate and top with chia seeds for some crunch!
Sounds delicious! I need to try those additions.

I have got to try that!

Those all sound so good, especially the calzone!

that's what i was reading too, it won't make you suddenly in labor. I will start adding them in my diet for sure

Does it matter if they're fresh or dried? I found a local vendor who sells fresh dates that have the texture of fudge! Amazing with a walnut half.
I don't think it matters and I prefer fresh as well. With a walnut sounds delicious.
Whole Foods dates also occasionally have bugs...its just a byproduct of them being organic. Def check them before you eat them:)
Good tip!

Here is a study to check out www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6695006/
Stuff them with a pecan and wrap in bacon. Put them in the oven til the bacon is cooked at 350°. Oh em geeeeee! So good!
I have to try these!!!
So crazy how dates can be sold with bugs! Thanks so much for filming this for everyone!
I know!! It's crazy.

I always purchased mine from the supermarket and never any bugs
Good to know. Who wants bugs, right?
Is it true eating dates and drinking water is bad for you? I'm currently 36 weeks and I'm going to give this a try
Not true! It’s not bad for you unless you have gestational diabetes.
Thank you I was told it can give you digest issues

You are so welcome! I am not sure about the snack bars, but that is a good question!
I was wondering too! I love Lara bars but not plain dates so much.
I love dates, fresh and unripe on the stalk, or ripe dates from foreign markets.
Wait what? Haha. I have been craving dates and I am almost at 39 weeks. 😂 Is my body trying to tell me something?! Lol
Sounds like it!!
So do i eat all 3 at a sitting time? Or each i t the morning, lunch and dinner?
Totally up to you! Don’t need to eat all at once.
My daughter just started eating dates last week at 35 weeks
Great timing!
I’m 40 weeks will it be any use eating them now?
It depends how long your doctor/midwife gives you before they suggest an induction. If they still give you 2 weeks then, you could try.
All those recipes sound great but I enjoy them plain.
Glad you like them!

Did you mean 39 weeks? If so, the best example is in the video.
My midwife recommended me to eat 9 a day. Mine are BIG too….. 😵💫I like dates but wow so sweet after 9……🫤
If yours are big, you probably don't need to eat 9. If yours are like my example then, you might consider 3 like I showed in the video.
I put cream cheese in mine 😅 But not because labor but just delicious.
(For me dates with almond is too sweet for me)
Sounds great!
40 weeks today can I eat dates today so I can go into labour
You can eat them, but it doesn’t cause labor to start immediately.
Hi Alice, thanks for this informational video, love it! I’ll be 34 weeks tomorrow, 10/24/22. Is it too early to start eating them or should I hold off until week 36?
I am glad that you liked the video! 34 weeks won't hurt unless you have gestational diabetes. They are high in sugar.
Me too 34 weeks, how did your delivery go?
Its my 33 week
Can i start dates now ??
Absolutely
Its my 25th week
Should i start eating dates?
Most people wait until at least 30 weeks
Dates helped the mother of Jesus, Mary give birth to him. It is mentioned in the Quran!!
Cool!
Lol there are cheaper alternatives that are bug free
Yes!
Am 40 weeks n no baby
Waiting is so hard! I hope baby comes soon Fariza.
