Open Rails is ONLY the game software... they do not produce any content... no track, rolling stock, sounds, etc., etc. That said, there are tens of thousands of content files that have been created over the past 20+ years, most of which are free to download. On a technical level there are both 32 and 64 bit versions, there are several threads for better performance, graphics presentation on dual 4k monitors, in 4k, looks GREAT.

Also on passenger trains you can enter the cars and see the inside of them.

I mean if you are going to do a review, you should actually review the simulator, not a single addon for the simulator. OR Content can be far far far better or far far far worse than what you showed here. and 99% of it is free

The gray stuff: Your game may be set to use DDS textures instead of ACE, and if that's so, loading routes that lack DDS textures can cause that problem. For the bell and sander, use the Shift key before pushing the bell or sander to lock them down. This change came with MSTS-BIN upgrade some time back and got carried over into Open Rails. All of the old original MSTS routes are still usable in Open Rails, with the old trains. With a little know-how, there are replacements for the some of the original scenery, locomotives, and rail cars. With a little bit more skill, you can easily port over the latest locomotives and cars into the old routes.

You can get 3d cabins for some trains and tracks and trains are pretty easy to get for free but on trains cabin and sound is seperated sometimes

FYI I think you should probably revisit this video, TS updated the scenic starter route recently and it’s vastly different than what’s shown here (like including a new GP38 model for example).

0:10 sorry bud but that is objectively fucking awesome backing music. What, you want them to play Stairway to Heaven while millions of dollars of virtual freight are flying around like leaves in a tornado?

If you're going to review _Open Rails_ it's important to separate the content from the game itself. The game is just the platform with which one experiences content. And there is a LOT of content available... some of which is good, some of which is newer and designed for OR specifically, and some of which is not that good.

Went belly up I think. Sherman hill was no longer being updated and people were beginning to have issues with purchases up until the website finally went offline.

@@linkfan95 That’s too bad. Been away from the hobby for a number of years but just installed Open Rails on my new system. First route to be installed was Feather River. I’m not sure what the last update got it was? I did find a 1.06 patch on one of my old hd’s. Such a great looking route.
I also have Sherman Hill but I think I only got a couple updates before my old system died.
