    Hey Matt - I’m a new subscriber. Loving your videos so far. This particular video is at a location that I was at in October 2023. Very peaceful - like you I was the only camper there. The land owner was great and even brought me firewood since he saw I was limited being on a motorcycle. I did not record my time there since I’m still fairly new at motorcycle camping. Your videos are inspirational. I particularly enjoy your words of encouragement being early on in my Christian journey. Please keep going with the videos!

      Thanks for the encouragement. I am glad you found that spot as well! Overlanding on a motorcycle! What kind of tent and cooking supplies do you use? Like a backpacker?

    • @ghostmoto1
      @ghostmoto1 7 месяцев назад +1

      Basically, yes. Moto camping requires that you constantly evaluate weight vs usefulness of your gear and continuously refine your kit. As an example, I use a Lone Rider Adv tent (my 2nd tent purchase). For cookware, I use a set from Sweden - Trangia.

      just starting out and getting some camping stuff ready for a little better weather (got a North Face Wawona 6 tent, camp chef cook top, Coleman cot with a VenBivy MotoBed and pad, camp chair, etc.) …. Haven’t been in many, many, years and then only a few times!
      One of the things I look forward to the most is the quiet time with God’s Word!
      I am interested in the Gazelle T4 tent so going forward it is on my mind …. The Wawona tent with the vestibule should be nice in the rain but the T4 is in consideration!

    I can remember when you had 500 subscribers. I have found that some of the Hip Camps aren't as advertised. You have found a nice quiet location. Smaller tents are better to stay warm in , my dog puts off a lot of heat 😂. The Gazelle is nice with the buddy heater on low , and after warming , I turn it to pilot only. I have purchased a little Fire Maple Sunflower Stove also . It is 3000 and 6000 btus and 1/8 th the size of a buddy heater. I love being out in nature , just God ,Star and I. That is a nice saw

    • @rubiconmatt
      @rubiconmatt  Год назад +1

      I love that saw! It really works well, I agree about the smaller tents, but prefer my Gazelle so I can stand up in it, makes things easier. I like your idea of just using the pilot on Buddy, I will try that. Thanks for watching and keep pressing on! Gob Bless!

    Hey Matt, have you explored any of the diesel heater options instead of the Buddy? Dry heat, so no condensation or potential ice. Might be worth exploring, they are relatively inexpensive.

    • @rubiconmatt
      @rubiconmatt  2 месяца назад +1

      They use electricity from a battery to keep going is that correct? How much does it use in a night of electricity? I am looking forward to winter camping and would consider using one. Any brand you recommend for a tent? Is it noisy? Thanks for watching and hope we can work it out to all get together for a meet up!

    • @cincicycles
      @cincicycles 2 месяца назад

      They pull about 150 W for about four minutes while the glow plug heats up. Once the heater is ignited and running, the battery shows about 15 W being pulled. I did a lot of research and noticed that some of the units out there have a loud fuel pump that ticks or they can leak diesel. The one I ended up getting is from LF Bros and it is the N2 model. It is super quiet, has an automotive style gas cap so it won’t leak in the back of my Bronco, and it was relatively inexpensive. Plus, it kind of looks cool. No affiliation, just personal research.

      MEET UP POSTPONED DUE TO FIRE/FLAME BAND!!! Please try to get refunded. I spoke to the Burr Oak Park Ranger today and he said ALL (Anything) that has a flame (jet boil, lighter, stove, propane anything, anything that creates a flame/spark, etc.) is band right now due to the drought. This band he told me is in effect until we get at least five inches of rain. So with that much rain needed (which I do not see coming), I spoke to a couple other folks signed up and we all agreed, we should postpone until we get the green light, then schedule something. I like cold weather camping anyways! I am sure sorry this did not work out, but we will put something on the calendars once the band is lifted. Please confirm back you got this in the comment section. God bless and stay strong in the Lord!
