I got into the 3DS in 2020 right before they got discontinued. Picked up the Hylian Shield Edition for $220 on Facebook Marketplace. It included a carrying case, charger and copies of Majora's Mask & Pokemon Sun. Then I got super lucky and found a New 3DS XL in GameStop for $150. So I'm covered.

I got one of these for christmas from my dad back in 2019. Glad I got one then, because that was right at the tail end of these being sold and I think it was around $100.
the reason it comes with a sd card is because the storage internaly is small so the sd card is their to expand storage, yes I did homebrew my 2ds xl and I have a 128gb sd card in it
The little flap covering the cart slot does make it look sleeker, but I think it's also prone to failure and just ends up being a little floppy flap flap which isn't as sleek.
@@jrob0021I have had two 2ds xls for years of regular play and have had no problems with the game flap. Also Mariokart 7 is not built in, it was on that micro SD card.
Actually not, the flap is hold by a piece of plastic that is flexible enough, even if you rip it apart, the cover can still close the cart compartment shut. It's my favorite 3DS design.
Wednesday January 10th, 2024 I got my Nintendo 2DS XL along with a physical copy of Pokémon Ultra Moon on Monday November 20th, 2017. Also, I got a physical copy of Mario Kart 7 on Sunday December 25th, 2011 and I still own them.
Gotta love retro game stores, I recently picked up a CIB new 3DS XL for 300, whereas they usually go for much more on eBay. Although the console was factory reset, the cartridges still had data on them. On Mario Kart DS, the old name was still there. Apparently they went by Mr. Pockets or something. Interesting name for sure. Also street pass does still work, but good luck finding people who take their 3DS around with them still.
New 3DS XL: Our box is big! But get a charger of your own. New 2DS XL: We could've made the box smaller, but we kept the manual and AR cards. Also, throw in a charger for the heck of it!
I bought this exact console 2 or 3 years ago for 99 bucks. I have hundreds of hours on it with Monster Hunter 4u, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon Sun... So many great games
I ordered one of these and got it 2-3 days before it officially released in the US. It served me well until I sat on it and it broke the screen. I ordered a new one and within a week it broke. I tried hodgepodging them together to have 2 working screens but I was over confident and broke both of them because of how impossible they are to repair. I still have all the peices and I guess I need to fix it at some point.
There used to be a RUclips app for the 3DS and I remember using it religiously because I didn’t have a phone at the time. It wasn’t the best, it was slow and the video quality was terrible but it got the job done for me.
Back in the day I pretty much grabbed them when they came out for a few runs. I had the DS lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL. And I recently just got the same New 2DS as in this video and that’s the one I play Soul Silver on now
I never had a 2DS/3DS, so I picked up one of these last year at the annual flea market for €25. I homebrewed it and it's absolutely amazing. It renders my DS Lite and DSi basically obsolete since I can download and run everything, and it's somehow even compatible with my decade old R4 flashcard.
The OG r4s were truly the goat of their time in terms of hardware and firmware tbh. Not surprised here. Enjoy though, I've had my old 2ds I've had since 2013-15 I got on a sale and it's been a faithful companion I've homebrewed and hardware modded.
I remember last year i got a 25th Anniversary Zelda OG 3DS only console with the charger for 140 and just recently won an auction of a Monster Hunter 4G new 3DS XL CIB for 180. I think im gonna stick with them and keep them because the prices skyrocketed like crazy these last years.
I grew up with the DS Lite and the 3DS, I feel like my fond memories would be when both of my sisters finally had a 3DS and we all played Mario Kart DS or Luigi's mansion 2. I'll miss those times, sadly my 3DS had an issue with the top screen, if you moved it in a certain position it would make a pop noise and turn off. I tried to open it up but ended up stripping the screw so I couldn't fix it. Decided to buy a New 2DS XL, cannot wait for it to come so I can play all my old games and some new ones!
Mine has a bloated battery and one of the screws is stripped and since its in a really tiny hole that no power tool can fit into theres no way to get it out. Basically I have a DS-shaped pipebomb just sitting in my bedroom
Unfortunately... Someone left parental control active, but I was able to get it off from the system. It wasn't reset to factory default. At least there was no nintendo network ID linked, but if it was... just format the system, that's all.
Retro gaming is for nerds who can't let go of the past. The ds line was fun for it's time but its an actual potato. If people make gaming an endless quest to chase the past, are they really having fun?
I wish I could get some of the retro games on a Wii or 3DS nowadays but the shops are closed (convenient they’d close right when I finally get my own credit card and stuff)
I can safely say it is not worth it. The console is 12 years old which makes it extremely outdated. It does not get any new games. If you think it is good for modding and emulation, you can literally do better emulation on a 150 dollar mid range phone. You can also emulate the 3ds on most devices pretty easily. If you don’t plan on modding, the eshop has been token down so you are forced to get physical cartridges which are pretty pricy.
I just bought a used new 3ds xl today for 160 bucks. I have an old 2ds that I homebrewed but you can’t play a bunch of the games on it so I was itching to upgrade. Can’t wait. For anyone wondering, you need a copy of Mariokart 7 for the super easy home brew.
I love the cover on the bottom. There was several times on New 3ds XL, because the cart is exposed on the bottom, i fat fingered the cartridge and pushed it which shuts your game down.
I’m so confused I have one of these I got it recently as a matter of fact I ordered Wii sports from GameStop for my Wii and they sent me the 2DS XL I don’t know why they did, but when I looked at retail value it was only $130 on GameStop so why is it like $400 here I have the exact one he has so how did it go up in value? and did I get lucky they sent me the 2DS XL instead of Wii sports it it did go up in value
