I can't believe that Phoenix was actually the Messiah. Well considering how many many times he survived things that should've killed him, I guess it makes sense lol
It was an interesting choice to make 2-2's case put more blame on Morgan rather than a shared responsibility between her and Mimi Miney. The anime stated that Morgan blackmailed Mimi to murder Grey, which never happened in the game, or at least wasn't implied.
Oh god, you NEED to see the bloopers for the series, they are hilarious
I hate and love how I was laughing the most at the horrible subtitles, SAFARI.
Love your reaction!🥰
And just a friendly reminder, some episodes in season 2 (like episode 6) have more content after the ending credits. Don't miss it!
That sucks! If they are going to do that, then they shouldn't put next episode previews.
The airbending takes me out every time lol
So glad she is watching the whole anime. I think anime Canon wise Episode 13 will always be my favorite stand alone episode. But I love the train case too. ❤
My reading is that Miles did actually intend to kill himself, but in the process of cutting ties realized that he didn't need to die to put his old life behind him. He needed to distance himself from the situation to get to that point, because while he was in it, it was all too much. Maybe a little projection on my part based on my own experiences, but if you look at his behavior in 1-5, it's clear he isn't okay, and while people like Gumshoe and Phoenix are well meaning, it really seems like they don't understand his doubts. I hated stealing his resignation letter, it felt so scummy, and I can only imagine after that, it would be even harder to bring up the possibility of quitting. Phoenix is so convinced he saved Miles and that Miles should be fine now, but Miles just isn't there yet.
So the conversation about Edgeworth's suicide note made me curious about what the original script was in Japanese.
Checking that, the line was "検事・御剣 怜侍は死を選ぶ", which was just as strange but straightforwardly vague like the localization, "Prosecutor Mitsurugi Reiji chooses death."
Apparently the whole situation is a cultural thing that westerners wouldn't get. I forgot who the youtuber that explained it was, but apparently its sort of understood that it meant a "life change hiatus".
@@Degdreams That's called "taking a sabbatical leave". It isn't the westeners' fault that the localization team decided to use "chooses death".
@@arturoaguilar6002 Well no, the misunderstanding is a canonical part of the story. Its not the fault of the localizers that they translated properly, its their fault for not actually doing their job and localizing (creating a way in story so that its audience completely understands what's going on despite cultural difference)
Wow! The difference on how his characterization is shown in the last Season 1 episodes against the start of Season 2 is like night and day!
JFA is a contentious game in the series, and I think the anime made some very deliberate choices to tone down the rough edges. Some changes are good - no Hotti Clinic, less Lotta, the retooling of the circus case - but in 2-4, the roughness is a lot of what makes it compelling. I think there's a reluctance to show main characters at their worst. In the game, Phoenix is erratic and sleepless and desperate, and Miles goes after Adrian so hard he comes across as cruel. I get not wanting to show, like, the heroic characters re-traumatizing a woman on the witness stand, but if you don't recontextualize those moments or replace them with anything, it feels like something is missing. I also think Miles's death was much more real in the game, and straight up happened in an earlier draft if I recall correctly. I'm not sure at what point they decided he was coming back, but I suspect parts of the earlier cases were written when he was intended to be dead for real. The anime wants you to know he's coming back right away. He's never out of the credits. And I think because they knew they were going in that direction, they neglected to have Phoenix have a full reaction. It seems like he never really believed it, and at most he's annoyed at Miles for shoddy communication, as opposed to the deep hurt he shows in game. Overall, I think there's an intent to make the anime of JFA more comfortable, but you lose things that way.
Now we end the stream with the debut of Luke Atmey, or to Lucahjin, “Tuxedo Penguin”
03:44:10 I feel like Adrian in the game has parallels both Edgeworth and Franziska, and that's something so interesting to me.
I usually think his "chooses death" note is kind of like jouhatsu phenomenon, where a person just... leaves their everyday life without warning because of pressure they feel. There's a wiki page, it's quite interesting!
I don't think he knew he would come back when he left the note, though - especially because in games it was Lana being forced to give him forged evidence that he didn't examine was the last straw. He was at his wit's end before it already, what with Manfred and realisation his perfect record means he must've sent some innocent people in jail (or worse). And then he finds out the police Chief is corrupt and the one person who looked out for him gave him a forged evidence, because she was blackmailed, and he noticed _neither!_ Who wouldn't want to just dissolve into the night after all that.
But also he kept in touch with Gumshoe! Edgeworth trusts him so much.
The urn is pretty funny in Japanese too I think, it goes from the name "Kyouko" 「供子」to the word for "child" 「子供」
So airbending restrictions outside of the courtroom follow the same restrictions for magic in Harry Potter?
They also changed a lot of important moments in the case 1-4 that showcased Maya’s own crisis. But at least they put something different in its place to give Miles more character growth.
In case 2-4 they just took things out and the only thing we got in return was Larry Butz…
Was that Barefoot Moscato you were drinking? Good stuff!
It's my fave D,x LOL
Thankfully Barefoot is sold here in UK. White Zinfandel & Chardonnay my fave wines. Yellow Tail Jammy Red Roo’s a popular one in my shop.
The ai subtitles make me sad. I'm watching this without audio and if we didn't see the cases before it would be incredibly difficult to follow with the nonsense they put
It's plain laziness and cheapness to use speech-to-text autogenerated subtitles for close captions. But at least they don't spoil the people identities now (only because the AI can't tell between someone speaking off-camera, someone's thoughts being voiced and someone speaking normally).

I'm happy they don't make phoenix so emotional in the da killa case in the anime like in the games.
It shows that he is a strong ans confident man despite the situation. Strong men conquer there emotions and Pheonix is the embodiment of that.
In the games he looked very weak in certain situations and that's why I love the anime more.
Now if phoenix was a woman then I would totally be in support of showing weakness because that's realistic but then again Miya is portrait as a very strong feminine character so if she showed signs of weakness that will look unnatural to her character
This might actually be one of the most yikes comments I've ever seen lmaoooooooo
