Just found this, and omg, what a fantastic way to do curved seams without worrying about the stretch on the bias and coming up too short. That technique is too cool. Thank you both for sharing this!

I have only sewn curves under duress, and it was for boat upholstery. When I first saw this in my notifications I thought there is no way I'll ever sew that but love to watch someone else sew curves. Now I can't wait to try this! Thank you for moving my comfort zone! Smart gal that Bethany. Glad you got her to commit to other shows.
I'm so happy that we could inspire you to try out curves again! Thanks for watching and for the lovely comments. 💖-Bethany

Woo! Go Bethany! You’re so good! Bethany is a great teacher and a great designer and a great sister and she cheats at board games!
Thank you for the warm welcome for Bethany! We are blessed to have her as part of our team here at Shabby Fabrics!! 💖 -Michelle
Awww stop embarrassing in front of my friends. 😅 😳
Full disclosure: Bethany is my sister so I am biased. One thing that Bethany and our mother had in common, is that they both have this incredible skill to make extraordinarily beautiful things that look complicated but are actually not that difficult to make, because of their clever design. One thing that Bethany has all on her own an amazing eye for color choice. Bethany would design these incredible patterns and quilts, and then she would make them absolutely spectacular because of the beautiful fabric choices that she would make.
One thing that Bethany didn’t point out in this video is that this pattern is also a subtle way to help teach quilters who aren’t great with color how to use color combinations more confidently. Make the blocks, lay them out, move them around: not every block is going to be amazing. But some will be and the end result will be.
I watched this entire video and really enjoyed it. Miss you Bethany! Take care of her, Shabby!
Love how this is done! I'll have to try flannel sometime. But love no pinning!
Definitely try flannel!! We're glad you enjoy this project. Thanks for watching!! 💖 -Michelle

Wowwww! While I have never sewn “my first quilt” (even though I’ve sewn evening & office attire, children’s clothing to soft home furnishings) the mere thought of trying to quilt curves scared the daylights out of me…😳😬 literally!!! Yet this pattern, with all of its wonderful tricks, hints and tips has me so excited to give this one a whirl in the very near future!!! 👍🏻❤️✂️ Thank you! Jo
You've got this, Jo! We're happy that this project has inspired you. Don't forget to check out our other project tutorials: www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video Thank you for watching! 💖 -Michelle

Very nice tutorial. Enjoyed watching =^^=
Thank you! We're glad you enjoy this beautiful block!! 🧡 -Michelle
I absolutely love this!! Great tutorial and technique is AWESOME for curves! When you are all done, how would you quilt the sandwich - I can't tell by the video?
Hi Kathie, Thank you for the kind words! On the listing page for this quilt kit, there is some great photography that shows off the quilting used on this quilt really well. www.shabbyfabrics.com/p121682/orange-blossom-quilt-kit-woolies-flannel?ref=SearchAutocomplete 💖-Bethany
love the quilt and a great tutorial.I would like to make in different colors. Can you tell me how much fabric I would need?
Hi Joyce! The Orange Blossom pattern includes fabric requirements for five different sized quilts! www.shabbyfabrics.com/p113242/orange-blossom-quilt-pattern 💖-Bethany
Flannel shrinks so much so just wanted to know if you prewashed/preshrunk everything? I would totally make this quilt for those cold Minnesota nights. Bethany Miller is a completely talented designer and I love that she thinks outside the box.
Hi Brenda - We didn't prewash this flannel prior to creating this project. We typically don't prewash our fabrics, but some people do prefer to do that. Now, if you're mixing cotton and flannel fabrics, please do prewash those. Hope this helps! And yes, we are so blessed by Bethany's creative mind :) -Michelle
Loved the tutorial! Ordered and received my quilt kit today and I can’t wait to get started! I have a question about using the glue stick…..should I use a special needle? I have never seen flannel and need needle size and if I need the non stick needle…..don’t want to gum up or ruin my new machine…..thanks so much!
Never sewn, not never seen flannel.
Hi Glenda, I pieced this entire quilt with a Microtex needle, but have pieced other variations of this pattern with universal needles and with Super Nonstick needles, and have found there to be no significant difference between the needles for this project. As long as the glue is dry, which should only take 60-90 seconds, there shouldn't be any problem with the school glue interacting with the needle or your machine. Hope this helps! 💖-Bethany
@@ShabbyFabrics thank you for quick reply. I have another question….is it OK to wait until the snowball is sewn on before squaring block?
Great question. Unfortunately, that would not work with this method. The block must be squared up before the snowball corners are added. But the good news is that the block shouldn't need to be squared up again after the snowballs are added! 💖-Bethany
@@ShabbyFabrics thank you so much, Bethany and I hope to see future tutorials of your work!
Jen you and this young lady should check out the accuquilt cutter and dies makes this process much faster and more accurate
Thank you for the very helpful suggestion, Donna 💖 -Michelle
Beautiful quilt, love the technique, Very clever too :). Does the pattern include the amounts for using precuts or is it just for yardage? I have some flannel layer cakes I would love to use for this. Thank You
Hi Kim, I'm so glad you liked the video. The pattern includes fabric requirements for yardage and fat quarters, but a video showing how to make this pattern with layer cakes is in the works! Be sure to subscribe to the channel so you don't miss that tutorial. 💖-Bethany
@@ShabbyFabrics Thank You so much :)
I loved this......so when does the mini orange blossom come out?!! ;)
Hi Carlene, thank you for the lovely comment. A mini Orange Blossom is in the works, so stay tuned! 💖-Bethany
@@ShabbyFabrics Awesome cannot wait!! In the meantime....I ordered the original! :)
How fun!! We look forward to seeing your project photos! 🌺 -Michelle
Can you post fabric requirements for all sizes? I think I’d like to make with blues and greys and hoping I’ve got enough in my stash to do so. No new fabric until July of 2022! 😃 but of course I can but patterns and rulers! 😍
That's a good stash goal 😍 We are happy you enjoy this fun project! The Orange Blossom pattern includes instructions for five different sized quilts! www.shabbyfabrics.com/p113242/orange-blossom-quilt-pattern 💖 -Michelle
Hi Bethany - I have all my squares made and am currently sewing my blocks together and they are soooo pretty!!!! Do you have any tips for lining up the magic corners when assembling? Im struggling with the open seam. I'd appreciate any tips you have!!!
Snowball corners can be tricky if the squares are not all lined up perfectly before sewing them. The only thing that Bethany says is to match up the points. Here are some tips that we have - pin well, starting with the corner. If they are slightly off, finger press one seam opposite from the other so they will nest. Start sewing at the "Magic Corner"; your fabric is less likely to shift as you sew the entire seam. Hope this helps and happy that you are enjoying this project! - Abby
Hi ctmiddz - We're so glad you're enjoying this fun design!! Here are some of our Sewing Rool tips for lining up the "Magic Corners"
-Pin well, starting with the magic corner.
-If they are slightly off, finger press one seam opposite the other so they will nest
-Start sewing at the "Magic Corner"; your fabric is less likely to shift as you sew the entire seam. Hope this helps!! -Michelle
How big is the quilt and how many blocks did you make? I love how you did this, this is way cool! Thanks for sharing it!!
This quilt measures approximately 65-1/2" x 65-1/2" and if you are making that size, there are about 100 units in the quilt. This is a fantastic quilt! Happy that you love it and thanks for your comment! - Abby
