It's confirmed from one of the audio logs you can find that E7 is the character you play as in Happy's Humble Burger Barn, and that because it was an older, more experimental version of the complete simulation, E7 was able to "wake up". It explains why in the ending of that game, things get REALLY weird before your characters vision changes to "hi res" (this franchise's way of telling you you're in the real world), and he escapes the compound. This is why You're the fucking best! Others are doing 30 min to 40 mins videos, and You are like, Happy's Burger Farm? Hold my Beer *proceeds to do a 2 hour godamn playthrough*
Though I agree it's not as scary as the original prototype, I was rather impressed by this. It's basically a conspiracy adventure game with a horror dressing to it, and I can work with that. The sheer amount of things to do, collectables to find, easter eggs building upon the lore, that all genuinely surprised me; I didn't expect there to be so much to do in this. Also, I will say I appreciate Manly's editing here to focus on that side of the game instead of including all the cooking segments; while I am sure the commentary would have made them enjoyable, this was a smoother experience.
Recent negative steam reviews mainly complain about gameplay and glitches, but favored (if anything) the story - but gameplay and world building seem to be more impressive than the story alone. But it definitely comes together in an interesting way.
So this is kinda like a universe where Disney fused with McDonald's to become the ultimate soulless megacorporation? Chicken mickeynuggies and a Mickeyrib. Saying those out loud work almost too well.
Something that really helps that I did not realize at first, the only things you can burn are the grill items. Happy Dogs, baked items and fries/nugs can be left alone so it helps to pre-make anything else. Great job Manly!
What really stuck out to me was the monster design for the farm animals. Petey's design made me think that the designs would all be grotesque and in turn, somewhat overly reliant on that (because Petey's design didn't stick out to me much) but I was pleasantly surprised by Charlie and Sammy's designs. They look like abominations, just like Petey, but Charlie's design really does invoke a fear response when chasing but when he's still, it feels like I'm watching a natural predator in its ecosystem and is nice to look at. Sammy's design just stuck out to me the most even though we saw very little of it (the jaws opening outwards instead of normal up and down was a very nice eldritch touch to me). Happy's design just fell super flat to me though, a possessed suit that has 3 different gimmicks to it that then finds its way out just doesn't sell "main antagonist" vibes to me. Idk, just some rambling thoughts at 1AM
Not his voice, but his lack thereof is why I watch. I don't understand why some RUclipsrs need to fill in every second of silence with their squawking. We're not on the radio
Yes. I know. I love it. He's relaxing and calming. I like how he talks like a regular gamer. He's observant and makes comments here and there. Sometimes he's just quiet for a long time. I also love how he does all the endings for the games. He's different than other RUclips gamers I watch. Not better. Just different. I love it, though. Lol.
His voice is soft but has this very vague crack to it now and then that makes it so perfect for horror games, along with the aforementioned pausing and not constantly spamming words.
I've been watching this channel for a few years and I'm extremely glad the randomness of the algorithm finally chose him so that he's now exponentially gaining traction. It's well-overdue and I can't wait to see how this channel progresses in 2022.
I remember first seeing a vid of his in 2020, I believe it was the horror animal crossing fan game with the uhh- owl guy (forgot his name) and I thought that the play thru wasn’t too bad. And I kept watching more and more vids and then now I’m here, a pretty happy subscriber. Although Manly kinda has a monotone voice and doesn’t say much else it’s kinda nice, and I rly like how he tries to voice act for the various characters.

Manly, how dare you edit down 6 hours of gameplay into a more consumable and well structured 2 hours. Are you out of your mind? I need the 6 hour version. (But seriously though, thank you for the work you put into this one, it's a long one for sure!) (But seriously seriously 6 hour version when?
Manly leaving all the electronics on and not closing his apartment door when he's not in a nice part of town is enough to make my city dweller side twitch. 😖
I honestly felt like they didn't know what to do with the ending... I heavily agree that the horror aspect isn't scary whatsoever. Even the beta/prototype of this game had a better horror aspect where they built onto it slowly instead of sprinkling elements all over the place for no reason. Kinda wish they didn't outright say it was stimulation at the beginning either and built more into that because it's really kills the feeling of us finding out later on. Anyway, really good playthrough of this game! I'm glad you were one of the people to upload it in one full video as well as separating the gameplay and the story nicely.
I agree. The dialog was so straight forward. They practicly kept saying the same thing in different sentences it kinda threw me off right in the begining. Definitely wish it had more time in development. It feels sooooo close to being finished but not there yet
Decent critique. What we lost in the horror and narrative progression aspect is replaced by a stronger emphasis on gameplay and design. If anything, the lack of polish on those aspects is my critique, as having tighter controls along with easier inventory management would make the frantic gameplay more enjoyable, as well as meld the major story events to the emergent design more smoothly. As for the ending itself, apart from the logistics of it, it was far better than the beta. The fight with the last mascot was good enough, as was walk through the final area. Overall, a very impressive game that lays the groundwork for an even better sequel.
I don't think there was ever supposed to be any surprise to finding out you're in a simulation because this game acts as a sequel to Happy's Humble Burger Barn, with it's ending revealing the simulation aspect. Telling us that we're in one at the beginning of this game gets the obvious out of the way so the story can focus more on the mysteries of what happened here and what they were working on. Although I do think they could have done a better job letting people know that this was a sequel, and that players should play the original first to understand all the story context.
@@static-ky I've seen the first game and how all that went through. Hell even this one references the first game with not just the whole simulation and being a part of the same facility but literally shows that they built over the restaurant from the first game. I just feel the scientist scene wasn't need from how most if not all of the game already shows it's a simulation from context clues and other info. Players aren't dumb, well hopefully they aren't, to figure out that it IS one. But I do agree telling it then does help focus on other mysteries although I don't think it helps with any mysteries from the previous one much. Still nice they talked about the company behind this all and what happened to people on the island. Honestly forgot it was sequel until I remembered there was a game similar to this and rechecked it out before it came out. But yeah they really should've done a better job on saying this was sequel because it gives the vibe of being a standalone game when it isn't.
As someone who worked fast food for 2 years, this video gives some hard nostalgia as aside from the horror, is pretty realistic but I definitely have some horror stories of my own from there 😅
Personally my horrors from being fast food employee is the people that harass you and you cannot do a thing about because the customer is always right, gave me more respect for those that still work there though
@@zarakblack8737 Never understood those people. I'm always polite and patient even if they fuck up my order. Why be rude to people just doing their jobs.
I fucking love it oh my god. Only watched 2 hours, but felt so long. Got my attention for a full 2 hours whew. The guy's scythe was pretty scary with how close it was. Also I love that until the very end, the simulation was still working a fast food joint. Even if we're in magma, or a cabin in a corn field, we still have to make burgers. Most games starting like this just has the start, and then it goes into what the actual game is about. So the fact that we started making burgers, and ended the fights with making burgers was such a nice gimmick. Anyway, hope VIC and E7 can meet each other in the afterlife, somehow.
I think your main confusion of the plot comes from the fact that there are 2 stories here. the simulation, and the monsters. the monsters are unrelated to the simulation. they are stored there because they were found there, and are too dangerous to transport out. the simulation is to test and develop mind control chips so everyone in the world can be a good wagie. the monsters are an unexpected kink in the corps plan that they are trying to find a use for.
Honestly I like this, it's a nice take on the "evil toys/cartoon characters" trope that makes it feel different. Like these beasts are more of a force of nature, a form of poetic justice rather than mad science gone wrong

When I heard banana malt i got reminded of a nice restaurant in my city that has a lot of different flavors of shakes, including banana and my personal favorite butterscotch I miss going there, they had some kickass burgers.
Reading the history of the barnyard pals on the coffee table. Watching the tv . Listening to the radio shows All add a ton of world building and backstory to the overarcing hidden plot
Horror aside, this game deserve props for how good of a fast food simulator it is. I bought it and I got so addicted to the work sessions that I choose to stay there instead. Until this day, I'm trying to find a game that grasps the micromanaging mechanics like this
I like the Valve games references in this game: "The burger is a lie." (Portal reference) and "The right ingredient on the wrong patty can make all the difference in the sandwich." (Half-Life 2 reference)
It looks like at the end, you escaped the facility only to see a random survivor scale and wall and sadly get caught by what seems like a mutated cow mascot? Note the scream? Which is unfortunate after going through all that. but it makes you wonder why they'd waste all those resources on making animal mascots real when they can go for REAL horror and make Anime real.
I don't know why, but Manly's voice is so calming.. I used this video to fall asleep and take a nice and needed nap today. Now time to actually watch the video xD

The prototype is also a pretty cool prequel. I wonder what happened to the guy in the prequel.
_Not as scary?!_
@@liviwaslost could have been E7 or Maverick Cooper
@@fenrirsrage4609 yeah, he is most likely him. Plus, we didn’t get to hear his voice in the prequel so probably.
So this is kinda like a universe where Disney fused with McDonald's to become the ultimate soulless megacorporation? Chicken mickeynuggies and a Mickeyrib. Saying those out loud work almost too well.
the concept of that is more horrifying than any horror game
Dystopia…
The food combinations would be pretty cool, but they would only look good in the commercials lol
3:30 They got a whole Happys Cinematic Universe already.
It honestly baffles me it hasn't happened yet. US antitrust laws are almost meaningless now.
It's funny to call Charlie "Not Kentucky fried" when the achievement for frying him is "Salute the Colonel!"
Something that really helps that I did not realize at first, the only things you can burn are the grill items. Happy Dogs, baked items and fries/nugs can be left alone so it helps to pre-make anything else. Great job Manly!
honestly I would definitely watch the full 6 hours of this. even if it's repetitive, I like seeing the process from start to finish.
Idk, just some rambling thoughts at 1AM
charlie's design is the strongest imo, esp given how the developers made him move. the raptor mannerisms are very well done.
The most unrealistic thing about this game is not the monsters, but the fact this guy has his own apartment on a fast food salary.
Manly's videos are always relaxing and entertaining. To be honest.
"Thank you Happy! But your burger is in another restaurant."
Mario: Sucks doesn't it?
who else just loves how relaxing his voice is?
Not his voice, but his lack thereof is why I watch. I don't understand why some RUclipsrs need to fill in every second of silence with their squawking. We're not on the radio
@@thisismywill very good point
Yes. I know.
Omg yes, I would love for Manly to read me a story while I drift off to sleep 😴
@@Mystery-Wolf Manly lack of reactions to normally scary games is amazing the ones that make him even jump or say something out loud are the really good ones

And man, I remember really enjoying the demo of this, excited to see what the full release has in store
MORALEZ
Dude I remembered that demo! That was a loooong time ago. Manly reaching 1mil is gonna be a badass start of the new year
He's been on the grind for 10 years, he deserves it.
but it is the full release tho...
@@bigbobrossa8524 I commented this within the first couple minutes of the video upload
As a RUclipsr that upload almost daily, playing different games and willing to play through all different endings or looking for secret, is very rare. Truly love this channel.

Holy shit. Jon St. John actually voiced the salmon. That's amazing.
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who pointed that out.
Made me happier Manly thought it was Duke Nukem too.
Big the Cat became a freaking salmon.

Manly leaving all the electronics on and not closing his apartment door when he's not in a nice part of town is enough to make my city dweller side twitch. 😖
Man the part where you serve customers, throw their food at them and they just explode was just hilarity
ManlyBaddassHero out-of-context:
"Alright, let's go to the museum, I've brought a bomb with me just in case."
This isn't a horror game, this is just a normal day working in food service
20 year cook here; can confirm.
@@yume_ster well now I k ow this is a sequel gotta go find game play of it

I love that they actually got Jon St.John to play the salmon character.
Pretty sure that's him
As someone who worked fast food for 2 years, this video gives some hard nostalgia as aside from the horror, is pretty realistic but I definitely have some horror stories of my own from there 😅
Similar vibe as a retail wagie for 10+ years....the monotony and awful pay are the real horrors.
Personally my horrors from being fast food employee is the people that harass you and you cannot do a thing about because the customer is always right, gave me more respect for those that still work there though
Thank you for your service
U GOTTA TELL US NOW
@@zarakblack8737 Never understood those people.
Watching Manly's gameplay has got this charm to it and it is always so relaxing, great video as always!

The manly man was too stunned to speak.
when you're a wagie and put on the nightmare goggles only to find that everything is the same
Can we talk about how this manages to capture the gmod's creepy background and aesthetic of it
I think your main confusion of the plot comes from the fact that there are 2 stories here. the simulation, and the monsters. the monsters are unrelated to the simulation. they are stored there because they were found there, and are too dangerous to transport out. the simulation is to test and develop mind control chips so everyone in the world can be a good wagie. the monsters are an unexpected kink in the corps plan that they are trying to find a use for.
Honestly I like this, it's a nice take on the "evil toys/cartoon characters" trope that makes it feel different. Like these beasts are more of a force of nature, a form of poetic justice rather than mad science gone wrong
3:23 Thanks for scrolling through that booklet. The developers really went out of their way to craft a rich history of fictional fast food mascots turned fearsome.
"I used to be a line chef like you, then I took a burger to the knee."
Love that reference.
I like the realism of a fast food joint of running in to unclog the toilet then going straight back to handling food without washing your hands

"you've also unlocked the soundtrack to The Transformers: The Movie" made me laugh so hard lol, was thinking that throughout the whole thing.

we have to appreciate how manly says some things in game wont be shown because of how long the game is,errors, lesser and lesser space on the electronic etc. instead of other ppl skipping half of the game and saying that they didnt miss anything

'I used to be a line chef like you, then I took a burger to the knee' tickled me. Mainly because I am a line chef.

Tbh i only ever decided to watch this because i saw on gianni i-can't-spell-his-last-name's youtube that he voice acted in this game, and legit the whole time i was watching this i thought he voiced sammy since he sounds like duke nukem and gianni has a thing for voicing over duke nukem memes on his channel but it turns out HE VOICED THE GODDAMN SURGEONS!??!?!?!
