Carolina season turned the moment McCants got hurt because they could finally run the offense through May. It’s also when they finally beat Duke as well. They don’t win the title if McCants gets hurt. In 2004 they barely made the tournament with McCants being the number 1 option.

    I watch Gils Arena often. I like the show and I like McCants takes. I do realize the more I watch him that their is an insecurity about his career that he has. He constantly tries to prove that he was a great player but the powers that be didnt want him to be great. As if he has never been validated so he wants to assure people that he was good. Wearing the crown just confirms that. And whats crazy about it is, he does that when no one ever said he wasnt a great player. I no longer acknowledge Rashard McCants as a Tarheel..
    Bro Sean May is the reason why we won the chip in 05.. he was dominated the tournament.. McCants is/was selfish as hell.. he jacked up a lot of shots his freshman year under Matt Doherty... when Roy Williams got to Carolina he preached balance.. inside first and then outside.. McCants hated it.. but it made the team better...

    • @revans100591
      @revans100591 3 месяца назад

      Nah he hated it because it meant he couldn't take a bunch of ill-advised shots unchecked during games anymore. The same stuff he complained about when it comes to his college run is the same stuff he complained about in the pros like they were supposed to just let him take 20 shots a night unchecked before and after KG left.

    Mccants was my favorite player from that 05 team..it sounds to me like something happened personally at some point that turned him against UNC as a whole. Wouldn’t be surprised if that whole team got tired of dealing with Rashad. I think this has little to do about basketball. Other than him being sour that he wasn’t a star in the league.

    This is why people look at dude like he's a bozo. Rashad had 14 points the entire game on 6 for 15 shooting. He took the most shots on the team BY FAR. May was 10 for 11 for 26 points and 10 boards. They had NO answer for May. It was a common sense adjustment.

    I think the real problem is that he’s on the podcast with people with long nba careers. So he overcompensates his accomplishments and just hypes himself up. The thing is he was cold he was just a head case and felt the world was against him. Some people don’t work well in structure and he seems to be one of them and just didn’t get it. I’d rather he preach his mistakes then say everything was someone else’s fault

    I like that MaCants is confident in himself and what he did but there's being confident and being delusional and the way he talks about his career (both college and pro) is delusional. Let him tell it if they just let him shoot 20+ times that game they still would have been okay in that game. He was nice at the college level but he makes it sound like he was Jordan, Drexler, Allen, etc at the guard position and there was no question he should have got the ball.
