As a former airline EVP (Fleet) and lifetime entrepreneur, I have always been excited by Embraer! I reviewed an E-170 at the Paris Air Show years ago, and I was truly impressed beyond measure! Excellent! Keep it up gentlemen. We are more than proud of you!
I love the 175. Flew one of Delta's out of MSO after being de-iced on a sub freezing temperature, dark morning, and it was an on-time, comfortable flight. I enjoyed it more than the many CRJ-700's I've flown.
This is my favorite plane to fly on currently. I recently got a job that requires me to fly every week and I've learned to love this plane. There plane itself is much smaller than a A320 or B737, but the seats themselves are wider and have more space between rows. The other hidden gem that most don't consider is that underneath the seats in front of you don't have those stupid metal bars separation the footwells, allowing you just that much more room. And the biggest bonus is that with it being a smaller plane it takes less time to load and unload passengers.

Irony is boeing had the excellent 717 in the early 2000s and didnt push it, as they had the 737. Now they need a 717 and are trying to take over embraer
Such a beautiful aircraft. The only problem many people don't like about it, is the tight narrow cabin. Today's E2 series should find a solution to that.
I've flown both the E-120 and the E-175. The little Brasilia was a rock solid airplane once trimmed up and we flew her like we stole it 8-10 legs a day. It was the most fun flying ever and sad to see her retire. The E-175 is just a beautiful and well designed 21st century airplane. Comfy for crew and passengers with little demand in the flight deck. We laugh at the jumpseaters flying the Boeing and Airbus telling them they work too hard. The ram horn controls are classic and she hand flies wonderfully. The minimal sweep to the wing means she doesn't like fast so .80m is about the comfort limit but the other end of the speed tape at flaps 5 with the big carbon brakes makes for fun short field landings. The E-Jet is a winner...

It always struck me as odd that Brazil would have a globally-competitive airliner manufacturer. Brazil isn't really known for being globally-competitive in any other manufacturing industry. I'm not complaining, it's just strange.
History of Brazilian Aviation, the beginning: pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santos_Dumont Alberto Santos Dumont (Palmira, July 20, 1873 - Guarujá, July 23, 1932) was a Brazilian aeronaut, sportsman and inventor. [1] [2] Santos Dumont designed, built and flew the first airship balloons with a gasoline engine. This merit is guaranteed internationally by winning the Deutsch Prize in 1901, when on a flight he went around the Eiffel Tower with his No. 6 airship, becoming one of the most famous people in the world during the 20th century. [3] With the victory at the Deutsch Prize, he was therefore also the first to complete a pre-established circuit under official testimony from experts, journalists and the public. [4] Santos Dumont was also the first to take off aboard a plane powered by a gasoline engine. On October 23, 1906 he flew about sixty meters at a height of two to three meters with the Oiseau de Proie (French for "bird of prey"), in the Campo de Bagatelle, in Paris. Less than a month later, on November 12, in front of a crowd of witnesses, he covered 220 meters at a height of six meters with the Oiseau de Proie III. These flights were the first approved by the Aeroclube de France for a heavier-than-air device, [5] and possibly the first public demonstration of a vehicle taking off by its own means, without the need for a launch ramp. [6] The title of responsible for the first flight on an airplane, attributed by Brazilians to Santos Dumont, is disputed with other pioneers, namely the Wright brothers. In France, it is customary to attribute the feat to Clément Ader who made the first flight of equipment heavier than air propelled by motor and taking off by his own means on October 9, 1890. [7] [8] [9 ] FAI, however, considers that the Wright brothers were the first to perform a controlled, motorized flight on a device heavier than air, [10] for a takeoff and subsequent flight that took place on December 17, 1903 on the Flyer, since the flights of Clément Ader were carried out in military secrecy, only to be known of its existence many years later. [11] [12] [13] On the other hand, Dumont's 14-Bis had a self-propelled takeoff, officially recognized by the public and journalists, and was the first aviation sports activity to be approved by FAI. [5] [14] [15] [16]
@7:36 the plane landing it's not the original version of the E-175. Look at the winglets. By 2014, Embraer's launched a modified version of the E-175 only. They are the most visible elements of a package of improvements to reduce fuel consumption and noise that has been progressively introduced. The package includes aerodynamic streamlining of the fuselage and optimization of several systems. The modified E175 recorded impressive results during several months of performance trials. Fuel consumption on a typical flight is 6.4% lower than the original E175, exceeding earlier-reported savings of up to 5%. I like to call it E-175 1.5, not an E1 and not an E2.

It sucks that in May of 2020 Air Canada decided to immediately Retire a bunch of Aircraft including their Embraer E190's. You all know what we can thank for that one :)
Seems to me that the Boeing Jets like the 737 are less comfortable in the air (you feel turbulence more) and the E-Jets are easier to land, as I've had way fewer "Hard" (not granny losing her dentures, but hard enough) landings. It must be the Boeing's tail clearance, or something, but I always feel a bit less tense in a Embraer on approach.
The engines these 175’s use (CF34-8E) are not the right engine for this aircraft. The CRJ-700 and 900 use the same engine. The main issue is the High Pressure Turbine blades. The stage 1 blades keep burning out and vaporizing at the higher thrust ratings for the ERJ 175 and CRJ 900. The CRJ 700 has a B1 thrust rating and doesn’t burn out the blades near as much. I’ve heard that the E2 series is going to be using a Pratt and Whitney engine. Not sure about this, but it would be wise to use something than the CF34.

Makes sense, actually! Tailstrikes tend to be more common on stretched aircraft it seems, I remember Mentour Pilot saying the 737 MAX-10 is especially notorious for this, in that pilots for those aircraft need special training for it, the planes are fitted with bumpers, or perhaps both, I can’t remember exactly. Dunno why it didn’t click that it would’ve been a test, considering how damn long the strike happened for, but it does make total sense. Cheers!

Yes, that was a test. It striked specially
Cheers!
