    Awesome video. I’m in the middle of the same project now. This has been extremely helpful. Thank you.

    How long was your replacement bolts for the foot peg my bike came with new forward controls but the holes on the primary are empty and I need the bolts

    • @cheesingarage

      Are you asking about the bolts for where the mid controls used to be? I didn't replace them, I just left the original ones in place

    Use a flathead screwdriver to open up the shifter splines a little bit and pull her straight off by hand no marrying is done good job though love the build. also would you recommend using blue loctite on these components because my bike vibrates pretty bad?

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад

      That's a great idea, seems obvious now haha. Blue Loctite is always a good idea on these bikes, especially on anything critical. I should have used it on this project, but I will be adding it while I have the bike apart. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!

    You didn’t show installation of the brake side. Is there adjustment? My pedal sits pretty straight up. Need to lower it.

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching! The brake linkage attaches the same way as the shifter, bolt through each eyelet. At 9:00 you can see how I assemble the brake linkage and how its adjusted. When you back off the jam nuts, you can thread the eyelets in or out to make the linkage longer or shorter. In your case, a shorter linkage will lower the pedal. Hope that helps!

    Did you have to replace the brake pivot? Or change it once you pulled the pin?

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад +1

      Once you pull the pin, there is a nut to remove and then I pulled the whole brake pivot assembly off. Nothing to replace, but it does leave a hole in your sprocket cover which you can see later in the video. With a little creativity, I bet you could plug or cover the hole, but it doesn't bother me for now (maybe in the future). Thanks for watching!

  • @derekcochran5841
    @derekcochran5841 2 года назад

    What size socket did you use for the nut on the inside of the sprocket cover? I’m having some trouble finding one that fits in my set

    • @cheesingarage

      Sorry but I cant remember, I did the project over a year ago. I don't recall it being anything special though. Hope you get it figured out, good luck!

      Probably already figured this out by now, but it may help others.
      I'm in the UK and have a sportster. Wondered why none of my sockets, spanners or Allen keys fitted properly. Then I had an epiphany... we use metric over here. Everything is in millimetres. Harley davidson are American. They use imperial, so inches. Had to buy a whole new tool kit 😅

    Does the exhaust fit back on once you have the controls mounted?

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад +1

      Going to depend on your exhaust, but TC Bros says it is the same location as stock forward controls. So it should fit any stock or near stock exhausts. Thanks for watching!

    Great install video. Very well done. I think even I can do it after watching this. Thank you. What kind of pipes are those? I have a 1995 Sportster and I want to get rid of the balance tube that goes between the exhaust pipes.

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it! The instructions that come with the kit are very thorough, but sometimes some visuals really help. I know they do for me. With some basic tools you shouldn't have any issues putting this kit on yourself.
      I believe these are actually the stock pipes for my '93 Sportster, but I could be wrong on that since I bought it used. I actually just removed this exhaust and replaced it with one from Lowbrow Customs in my latest video.
      Good luck with your bike!

    • @seanmerrill

      Those are aftermarket drag pipes.

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад

      @@seanmerrill These do resemble drag pipes but they aren't as they have baffles in them (pretty serious ones too). These could definitely be aftermarket though. I looked for any markings on them of a manufacturer or something but they don't seem to have any

    Did you feel a drastic increase in vibrations using this kit - compared to the mid pegs, which are not motor mounted.. i have forwards on my bike, different design - but my feet vibrate sooo much and im thinking about changing to a different set of forwards

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад +1

      I didn't notice any difference in vibration with these controls. I am not sure how much these would help though, they are mounted directly to the motor mounts and have not bushings or vibration dampening that I can tell. If you're sure you bike is running properly and not vibrating more than it should, you might want to look into rubber or some kind of cushioned foot pegs. Let me know what you end up doing, I'm curious to hear your results. Thanks for watching!

      Good catch, I must have missed that during editing. You just unscrew the stock eyelet from the master cylinder and the new rod screws right into the same place. Thanks for watching!

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад

      Hey Frank, if you're referring to the rear master cylinder, it actually stays in the stock location. The kit uses a longer linkage that connects the new pedal location to the stock master cylinder. Let me know if that answers your question. Thanks for watching!

    Why would you put the speedo in that spot soo silly looking

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  3 года назад

      I hated the stock location and was playing around with different places to put it. I personally like the lower, off to the side location, but was limited by the stock wiring. I am rewiring the bike this winter and will be bringing the speedometer a little further back and closer in.
      Not everyone's cup of tea though, I get that. Thanks for watching!

    What did you do with the hole left in the sprocket cover after peg mount was removed?

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад

      I just left the hole there, it isn't that noticeable unless your looking for it. But if is something that bothers you, you might be able to find a polished cap nut to go over the old threads for the peg and cover the hole.
