    I did a Hybrid of this. I bought the TCMT. Any part in the kit that did not meet muster I placed aside and ordered the HD Part on Ebay. Once I got my parts to satisfaction I changed my Mids out and installed the Forward Controls. I then sold all the parts individually on Ebay and made my money back for the entire cost of changing them out. The Foot Rest Mounts seemed to be the weakest and like Pot Metal so they had to go. Certain bolts did not pass muster as well. I also went with an After Market Shift Rod that was superior to both TCMT and HD OEM. After Market Heel Toe Shifter and Brake Pedal was exchanged for TCMT or HD OEM versions. It was nice I broke even as the parts are in demand on Ebay.

    I've been in a weird place for a while on forwards. I've wanted them but couldn't see paying the "Harley fee" for oem co tools, but also have been burned by the Amazon knock-offs in the past. This video was perfect and I did as you suggested, through a combination of recycling the hardware from the mids and bought some bits at the hardware store. Drenched in loctite and torqued gingerly.

    Thank you very much for your objective assessment. As for the hardware problem you mentioned, we will record it and give feedback to the factory.

    i got this same set on mine and honestly it does good just make sure to check the bolts that come with the kit regularly cause they love to come loose even with loctite i had one fall off on my shift linkage while riding lost the ability to shift and replaced the main bolts for shifting with some lowes specials and havent had a issue since

    As for the flex considering they are forward controls, they shouldn’t be taking that much weight other than resting your feet on them. They might bend or snap if you drop the bike but if you’re worried about that you’ll probably have a crash guard already installed.

    I have a similar chinese knockoff forward controls, they flex but so far they haven't broke yet, i have let fall the bike a couple times but they are still there, I'm gonna change them into the original oem brackets and footpegs brackets because I'm a scary little cat XD they did their job but it's time to go.

      brake rod won’t work then you may have mount on wrong side… That happened to me …it’s a lot of work but put that mount on other side use the other side for your brake my!!! If they would just mark the mounts left a right that would be a huge help!!!Time saver for sure!

    I got some of these Amazon fwd controls and they just seem loose fitting. They are tight all the way. Is there a way to make them fit better?

    • @WeekendAdventureRides
      @WeekendAdventureRides  6 месяцев назад

      @finneyman the brackets themselves are tight and have no issue. The spring washers to keep the footpegs tight are super cheap so I will be getting some that are better quality and that should make them fit tighter.

    • @finneyman
      @finneyman 6 месяцев назад

      @@WeekendAdventureRides the brackets seem ok on mine it’s the moving parts on both sides that rattle around. Not the foot peg but the brake lever and shifter parts rattle around

    • @WeekendAdventureRides
      @WeekendAdventureRides  6 месяцев назад

      @@finneyman I don't seem to have that problem. You may look at the linkage to see if it's set correctly

      I only rode 1 time with the. I live in a very cold and snowy part of the country. I'm not disappointed with them for the price. The only issue I have with them is the spring washer that keeps tension on the peg. I would replace these with better quality ones.

      You could almost use the OEM brackets for the mid controls, except for the fact that the mounting holes are spaced different! I think the factory did that on purpose!

    • @exexpat11
      @exexpat11 22 дня назад

      It is not that complex. Even I could do it and I am not mechanically inclined. If you can identify the part you can find the hole it matches up with and goes in.
