Ubuntu touch is a sad story. The developer can't seem to get everything to work and the development has been ongoing for ages. I love Ubuntu touch.. but the development isn't as look forward to as others. Oneplusone is a collector item and there are few phones it supports fully.
Sailfish OS is mostly open source (at least the free version) and there is no "trial" version here? The free version can be used as long as you want. The only difference is, that it does not come with AD (meaning Android app support) and Microsoft Exchange Plugins, which cost money. Pleas check your facts better. This is very easy to find out even if you do not own SFOS.
honestly android kinda sucks, it has become way less customizable, the root directory is locked, and it's way more bloated (with google products you can't uninstall, and some preinstalled apps that you will never use)

I daily drive Ubuntu Touch. Its great! Can run UT apps, PC linux apps and Android apps. Few if any real downsides.
