Inner harbour is a good place for camera testing. I use e2c, the app is fast, don't see any lag while using the app. Try to avoid the wifi connection, use the usbc to connect you phone and the camera, which is more stable.
The Inner Harbor is a great place. There's always a ton to film! After we did this video, and the subsequent review video, we learned quite a bit. When we used this camera, we used the USB to record to an SSD drive. In hindsight, we should have either used C-Fast cards or gotten a c-fast to USB C adapter to use the SSD. Ideally though, control through the monitor would be our number one choice for camera control.
@@GearFocus Nope, they just provide resolution for 8K which doesn't answer my question. 8K is roughly 34 MP which is nearly half of the 61 MP. So why they use it ? The shot didn't make the final video, but I do have some low light footage. It did really well. As for the ProRes conversion, you can convert to 4:2:2 but not 4:4:4
There is quite a bit of difference between the two cameras. I don't know if I would say that one is better than the other, they each do different things well.
@@ZCAMCC Yeap it's about 8k, but still: a) 7680 × 4320 in 16:9 it's 33.18 MP b) 8192 × 4608 even in 16:9 it's 37.75 MP In each cases is less then 2/3 of the 61MP. So, it's true that for F8 you are using 61MP, or other, less MP sensor? I'm a little tech geek so it's interesting for me ;)
I've had my eye on the 6k for several months now, not only for its tech specs, but the form factor is a Huge selling point. Thanks for this up-to-date review - seems like a Great camera.
Every time I upgrade my computer some new monster camera comes out. I mean, how many Ks do we really NEED? Award winning Arri cams ran at 2K for many years and my BMCC (new to me) is 2.5K. I swear it is just a huge conspiracy to keep people buying stuff.
It is kind of a conspiracy, because the lower end DSLRs can't really touch the higher end cameras for a few reasons. 1) Red and ARRI both offer 16 bit color, which no pro-sumer camera can or will deliver. Because the hardware required to manage that kind of data actually cost a lot of money, thus the prices of higher end cameras. 2) The Red RAW codec is pretty amazing. I've never used BRaw, but I imagine it really doesn't offer up the same value as people think it does, bcz the BMD sensors don't capture as much color as ARRI/RED nor do they pass 16-bit color signal to record that data. 3) Increasing resolution, actually does not improve image quality if the pixel density shrinks. This is why Arri camera's still use the same sensor and pixel size in all of their cameras. Bigger pixels just gather better quality data. Knowing these three things, you can spend your money where it really counts. Lighting and lenses. And when you're ready to shoot on higher end cameras just rent them for the shoot you need.
It really depends on what you are trying to do. There are a lot of factors that go into that. we plan on doing a comparison between the RED Monstro 8K and the Z Cam E2-F8 in the future. stay tuned for that!!
It depends on what you do and what clients you have. For an Indie filmaker the F8 is more than enough, even the S6 or F6. Get the Red Helium or Monstro only if you have big productions and you are also a rental house.
@@MelnardEdaCinematography123 correct. The RED Monstro sensor has "17+ stops of dynamic range" as listed on their site. The F8 has 14 stops, which is still a ton! This camera will be used by a lot of film makers moving forward. Even the Arri Alexa Mini is 14 stops.
Pretty sure this camera isn't making helium or monstro owners loose sleep at night. But pixel peepers might be dreaming.... how would my shots look in 8K. haha! Great video
7:23 I'm sorry, but my math says something else. When you double the resolution you quadruple the pixel count. When you go from 4K to 8K you double the resolution (quadruple the pixel count), hence you can zoom max 2X in post to get 4K image out of 8K. You can zoom 4X to get 2K. It's math. When you double the dimensions of a square, you get 2x bigger square with quadrupled area. BTW, I'm astonished by all the "pro" YTubers who talks about cameras and gears, and yet when you watch a video like this, you hear this loud music kicking in followed by silent and unclear audio (spoken parts). It's so annoying especially at night; you watch a video, the audio is not clear so you boost the volume and then you get punched by this loud and crispy music. Who thought, putting loud music into videos is cool?! Pls stop this nonsense
correct. To be clear “ 4K screens double those numbers to 3,840 by 2,160 and quadruple the number of pixels. 8K doubles the numbers again, to a resolution of 7,680 by 4,320. That's four times the number of pixels as 4K”
It wasn't horrible. The editing PC was built to handle 8K Raw out of RED cameras so it held up pretty well. The codec itself was pretty good. Plus the ProRes options are there if needed.
8K full frame!! Incredible!! What do you guys think? Is the Z-Cam E2-F8 a camera you'd consider?
I have an E2, and I only hope Kinson and the gang offer up cropped 6K and 4K higher fps options on the F8, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
SilverSulu that could definitely be addressed with a firmware update I would think!
