The original Jag F-Type is possibly the most perfect looking car ever made.
Equal length exhaust primaries! Yessssss! No engine in the world sounds better than a naturally aspirated V12 with equal length headers. Fantastic job, Sir Ian. These are the kinds of things that excite engineers.
600K PLUS DONOR CAR. I understand the ethos behind this, but I just don't think the Vanquish has a big enough cult following for this kind of money. I'm sure there's a few Vanquish people out there, but come on guys. So much pointless spending on what should be a 150k car. I had a 2003 Vanquish (not S). I loved it and had a reliable one and I drive it alot. Various Ford bin parts did it a disservice and it wasn't a proper paddle system, more semi auto as you had to ease off gas when shifting. Mine was very reliable, others weren't so lucky. Get the shifting wrong, you smell the clutch and it drops power for 15 minutes. The S was a big improvement but I loved my 'ordinary' Vanquish.... And the sound..... I've owned a 2006 Vanquish S from 2012 to 2018. Like many Vanquish admirers and owners, I fell in love with the car thanks to Mr. Bond (who had an early V12). I still love that britishness, that only older Astons have. Elegant, masculine, a bit sporty and a bit weird - very British. A total opposite to the modern Astons, which I don't like anymore. The Vanquish has its quirks, it needs much attention and maintenance (rust is a quite common issue), it has an interior which maybe isn't what people expect when it comes to such an expensive car (which is started with a Ford Fiesta key in its ignition lock). To be honest - I still love the Vanquish V12 and S, I accepted all the quirks and lack of perfection due to financial issues at Aston Martin company and I think, that retro Vanquish isn't necessary. The Vanquish community accepted the car as it was/is. The Vanquish is a timeless beauty and there are quite good cars out there to buy in future. BTW, the colours on that retro Vanquish are horrible.

Each time an exhaust valve opens to release gas, that generates a little "pressure wave" in the exhaust manifold that then makes it's way down the pipes to the exhaust tip. This creates a minute amount of turbulence - and can even cause a small "ripple back" wave to start heading the *wrong* way up the pipe that is at a low-pressure state. The solution to this is to literally adjust the lengths of the headers, so that as the pipes merge, they do so such that - at a given rev range - you have all-high-pressure waves meeting at the joins in the pipe.
