I picked a bottle of West Cork cask strength a couple of weeks ago and was blown away! Fruity and toffee and the higher proof is perfect I love this stuff!
I always enjoy your videos but this may have been one of the best. A bit off the rails is totally fun entertainment. Love that Julie finished hers and then finished yours!
it's been a while since I've seen Redbreast 12 Year CS in Oregon, but checking inventory several places in the Portland area have it in stock - I'll need to pick up a bottle. I've had 6 or 7 different batches over the years and it's one of my favorite Irish Whiskeys for sure. Batch B2/19, 55.8% ABV I had this to say: "On the nose I find apple cider, pear and bread. The cask strength is present as you'll want to take small sips for sure. The taste I find butter, spice, baked fruit pie, and wood. The finish I get spice and oak wood that lingers, along with some high proof burn." I usually rate it 4.0/5.0. The West Cork I saw sometime last year and picked up a bottle. I thought it was quite good, especially at $57, my tasting notes were "On the nose, I get vanilla, bread/cookie, malt, apple juice and honey. The taste, I get sweet, malty, some herb, apple and vanilla... with a heat that builds from the proof. The finish is some good heat from the proof, fruity, malty... lingers for a long time." and I rated it 3.75/5.0, so very close to the Redbreast, and my bottle is barely hanging on. My only complaint was when I first opened it, the cork snapped off, heh. I have never seen Blue Spot to buy, but will be looking to pick up a bottle as I like both the Yellow Spot and Green Spot. Great review, thanks for the thoughts (:
Love that RBCS! No luck finding Blue Spot in these parts, but super itching to try it. Haven’t even seen the West Cork. Great job…getting all randy with those lovely ☘️🥃!
Yes! Love Irish Whiskey! RB cask strength is amazing whiskey. Finally just found a bottle of Blue Spot. Pumped to crack that. This was one of your best videos btw. Had everything and you guys had fun most importantly.
I haven’t had the West Cork, heck hadn’t even heard of it. Looked it up, seems to have other grains on it, couldn’t find what they were. Vs the BS and RB being all barley. I enjoy BS and just picked up the RB this past week, excited to try it. Now I’ll be on the lookout for WC!! Cheers!
Red Breast CS was my first foray into Irish based of the positivity surrounding this bottle by most everyone I have seen comment on it. I have to fall in line with that as I am very happy with it. Been wanting to expand my Irish experiences. Blue Spot has been on my list, but never seen one. I guess West Cork is something to keep my eyes peeled for as well. The bold Irish flavors sound intriguing. Recently did get a Writer's Tears Double Oak that I have found quite enjoyable as well. Cheers!
Love the nonsense! I'll have to seek out the West Cork Barrel Proof, I've only had the West Cork 8 Year, but I really liked it. It's definitely different. Looking forward to what you've got coming up this week!
West Cork has a higher amount of wheat in their blended mashbill. One reason why it’s a bit sweeter than others. The other two are similar single pot still whiskeys and a few years older than West Cork.
Great review!! Which batch of Redbreast CS are you having? They are hit or miss, I have B1/21, I’ve heard B1/22 is really good. There’s a lot of Cask Strength Irish Whiskey, unfortunately not a huge amount of it makes it to the US. I’m hoping to get over and visit County Down later this year, we were in Ireland in 2014. Lots more distilleries now!!
I believe we have the latest edition of Redbreast CS. We tried to find it last night, but the studio is all packed up for renovations and we had to abandon the search after 20 minutes, haha. Whatever it is, this one is stellar!
Nice vid, guys. Ireland's been stepping it up last few years. I've only tried one cask strength and its the best Irish I've ever tasted - Two Stacks. A gentle 130pr that drinks way lower with a super viscous complex finish w dark fruti and smoke. Kicks a lot of bourbon asses : )
@@TheBourbonVan they have 2 versions of Dram in a Can, only the Green Blended can is in the US now. The Blue Single Malt can is supposedly coming over this year.
I agree with the group. 2 Stacks cask strength is Excellent. It almost has an apple taste. And I found it for around $58 at Total Wine. I also saw their regular strength in the cans ("a perfect dram" as well) :)
3 months later.... SCORE! (do ya'll see comments this stale?) Was out of town recently and finally came across the redbreast 12 cask strength and bought 2 of them at about $125 ea incl sales tax. Today I came across and picked up the West Cork Barrel Proof at $52ish. Seems like I once saw a Blue Spot but it was above my pay grade at just under $200. I remembered this video when I got the 2 mentioned, and look forward to my first Irish Barrel strength tasting adventure. (so far my Irish favorites have been redbreast 12yr 80pf and the sexton 80pf single malt)
March is always one of our favorite months, Love the Irish Whiskeys.
Agreed!
Love the wide variety y’all make videos on, keeps it interesting. 🎉Happy St. Patrick’s Day week
Cheers, Keith, thanks a lot!
what a wonderful flight.

Right on, Ted!

Definitely one of our favorites too!
I never heard of West Cork, and can’t find Blue Spot. I just found the Redbreast cask strength. It is fantastic!
There are no losers in this flight, but that Redbreast is terrific. Cheers!
West Cork Barrel Proof is a little harder to find. It’s totally worth it if you can find it.
This was fantastic, you two are great, thanks for bringing a smile to my face! Love the energy!
Thanks Terrence, cheers!
Awesome video ya'll can't wait to try West Cork!!! Sounds delicious 😋
This was a great flight all around. Delicious!
Can't wait to see what ya'll have for us next!!!🍀💚🍀💚🍀💚
Great episode. I like to see the fun in the tasting. Good stuff!

This was a very fun day!
I love the whole Redbreast lineup but the 12 Cask Strenght is amazing!!!
Great video, lots of fun 😊

Thanks a lot, Jeff! We'll keep having fun if you keep watching, haha!
"I think I need to borrow your glasses..." LOL this is why I enjoy this channel so much
LOL "borrow"
Thanks for doing the heavy lifting!
That's our pleasure!
I’m all in for Redbreast and West Cork have multiple bottles on the shelves.
I haven’t had the West Cork, heck hadn’t even heard of it. Looked it up, seems to have other grains on it, couldn’t find what they were. Vs the BS and RB being all barley.

The dublin cuddle 😅 fantastic
And the conversation podcast and happiness scale makes you guys unique !
Thanks Jacob! Sláinte!
Blue spot is my favorite of this list. Now to see what you pick!!
Love your show, Red Breast 12 cask strength was my favorite, if you can find Red Spot 15 I highly recommend it, big time unicorn
From the thumbnail, The Bourbon Van with Randy and Julie. 😂

We enjoyed the Writer's Tears Double Oak and Cask Strength that we tried, but have not yet purchased a bottle. Certainly on the list. Sláinte!
Hi, PeachCoke here, great video. I’ll have to hit up my local liquor store for that West Cork. Had some of their others but never the Barrel Proof.
You might also like Midleton Very Rare! We hear it’s easy on the palate and the budget.

Julie looking over and thinking…Phil you need to give me all your glasses now and no I am not picking just one! LOL
"Hand over the Irish whiskey and nobody gets hurt," haha.

It felt much too natural. Sláinte!
I need to look for some of these cask strength Irish whiskeys. They sound terrific.
These are all dynamite whiskeys that deserve your attention.
Red Breast 12 cask strength is such a great and Whisky.
Julie you had me laughing having so much fun you ran out of whisky!
Looks like someone's a proof Queen 😊☺️🎉🎉
Fun video guys! The only Irish I have is Knappogue Castle 12 year. I'll keep an eye out for these especially the West Cork. Sounds intresting.
We had a pour of the Knappogue Castle 12 Year this weekend. That's very tasty!

We'll keep an eye out for that one! Whisky Neighbour was just showing off some Two Stacks in a can on Instagram. Interesting brand!

Do you guys ever add a bit of water in the caskstrengths? Especially in the Scottish style whisky's that can really make different accents stand out.
Not often with Irish, but frequently we do that with very strong bourbons and Scotch whiskies.

Great, now I have to find the WC barrel proof 😳😆
Haha, we'll send you a sample! I'll be in touch. Cheers!
Got it just feeling Irish
You're both wrong. The correct answer is Redbreast. 😏
15:02 oh really now
hmm it's an Irish tasting...Julie wins !!!
