    Hilarious but so true....spent a month putting together an outdoor R/C track, left it for 2 months and couldn't even see where it was. I used a tow behind sprayer with some weed killer from Tractor Supply and that worked really well but everyone wanted to race but very few wanted to help maintain it. Had plans to get a shipping container to use for storage with the drivers stand on the roof using an Ezy Up for shade. Drinking beer and R/C....two of my favorite things to do..great video!

    • @johnniehobby
      @johnniehobby  5 лет назад +1

      We plan on adding a drivers' stand this spring. Don't need something as tall as a shipping container, though. Also, my racing buddies + beer + heights over 4 feet may not be good idea. LOL. Thanks for the comment.

    Amazing and pretty funny moments there. How wide are your lanes of that track?

    • @johnniehobby

      Average track width is 10 feet. Areas in the back are closer to 12 feet.

  • @WatuCline

    how wide do you recommend the track to be im about to build a track for my 1:10 scale slash and want to do it right

      i like the pvc spacer and plan on making one but for my track just need to know how big lol

    • @johnniehobby
      @johnniehobby  2 года назад +1

      For 1/10 scale I recommend no narrower than 8 feet. Our track width varies depending on how far from the driver it is. The closer parts of the track are 8 feet wide, and areas in the rear further from the driver where depth perception isn't as good are 10 feet. The PVC track gauge you see in the video is 8ft long but has a 2-foot extension that we add to set the pipes on the backstretch.

    • @johnniehobby

      We try to keep it 10 feet all around but it does vary by a foot here and there.

    How wide are your track lanes?

    • @johnniehobby
      @johnniehobby  4 года назад +2

      We set the track width about 8 feet in areas that are close to the drivers. The back half of the track where perspective gets more difficult the track is 9 feet wide.

    What do you recommend on building a RC track without tearing up the dirt I thought about putting some tarps down and nailing them down to the ground and just taking some PVC pipe and trying to put it on there like make two holes and then zip tie if you see pipe down does to the zip tie I really don’t like the tarp idea but do you have any other ideas that you could think of that tearing the dirt up to make a RC track and not putting gravel as well or a plywood method work to just put a couple plywood down and drive on that and you’re so funny this video about the track where the track go i subscribed and liked this video and the bell is turned on

    • @johnniehobby

      I'd suggest outdoor carpet (artificial turf). That's what's used on a lot of indoor tracks. It has high traction, it's very durable, and will last a long time as it's designed to resist water and UV light.

      The best (and funnest) way to keep the track clear is simply to run your RC cars on it. Just that keeps most vegetation from starting growing. Take a break from racing for a week or two and it starts to come back. Not so bad in the middle of the summer when it's hot and dry but spring is the worst. Do nothing with it in the spring when temps are mild and lots of rain and you won't be able to see it anymore within a month. Best bet when you can't run on it regularly is get a backpack garden sprayer (about $25 from Harbor Freight) to apply vegetation killer every couple of weeks.
