I have to admit that when I started this project I had no idea how much work it was going to be…since making the track back in 2016 I’ve brought in the backhoe to expand it (no more messing around with hand tools), I’ve installed a barrier with about 50 old tires, and I’ve dumped about 6 loads of fill. Track expansion video: ruclips.net/video/T7uSZmZewjE/видео.html
Thanks a lot, glad you liked the view! This was at a rural property about 1 hour from where I live in Cuenca, Ecuador. Unfortunately we sold it last year because it was just too much maintenance. I'm still mourning...
Weed Killer. It's nasty stuff that I would rather avoid, but it was the only way for me to manage such a huge space efficiently. Another option would be just to let the grass grow, than mow the lanes real short and keep the exterior longer...
Wow I thought for sure you would’ve been using a bobcat or other light machine, by hand huge respect! And those Mountain View’s my gosh. I hope to build a back yard course some day. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot my friend, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, we had to sell this property because the maintenance got to be too much. I really miss this track, my tugging are on the shelf gathering dust!
Man, I hope you realise what you've got there, you're sooooo lucky, a race track in your back garden, WOW. and that's not all, I just loved soaking up the background, it's so beautiful and jaw drooping. I'm well jell now. lol 😁 👍 👍 👍 👍
Wow !! Magnificent !! Freaking Awesome Job my brother Jason Very nice work :-) I enjoyed the video to the end thank you very much for sharing....Have fun I ❤ it Thumbs up.✌ ✌ツ👍
Just looking at the video and the thumbnail of your track. Not only it looks badass. But it looks like you took inspiration to the Formula One race track in Austria called the Red Bull Ring
Wow! I was thinking certainly you had a bobcat or the like! Very impressive! I can totally understand the amount of back-breaking work involved in a track of this magnitude! Great job! I have some land myself and I have been thinking about making a track but I have had back surgery and would definitely have to rent something to aide me in doing it lol!
I'm curious about the flat parts. Did you roto-till the grass up? Did you just run on the grass till it disappeared? Did you poor dirt on top of the grass? Did you kill the grass first...? Great video, this is my dream!
Hi Bobby, actually, I used weedkiller, it was by far the most practical. First I laid out some old irrigation lines (like stiff hoses) to mark out the lines and keep it neat, then I went over it very carefully with weedkiller. After a week the lanes were marked and after a month they were just dirt.
Much respect for not using earth moving equipment. How did you compact the soil though? Did you use clay or is that all native material? I'm trying to build something too but don't have the budget to be renting or buying heavy duty equipment. Looks like I could learn quite a bit from you. Also how wide are the lanes?
Lots of great info here Jason! Really glad you shared this. It was neat to see how you did things and things we can learn not to do if you build our own. Awesome work! I'm amazed by all the hard work you put into this! It turned out great! Thumbs up bro! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year! ;-)
Thanks a lot Ken. The RC hobby does have a very small but very dedicated following here, but Ecuador is not a rich country and RC toys are expensive! There are a handful of clubs and tracks around the country, but the one in our area had a hard time getting people to pay dies to maintain a community track, which got neglected and closed, so that's why I made my own. It was a TON of work, but good clean fun getting out there with the kids. Take care!
A man after my own heart! With a lot of hard work and a strong stubborn streak, you can do a lot! Looks great. Are there specifications for things like spacing between hills, widths of courses, or did you just roll with something you liked? I've got a little space and would like to do something like this, but not sure if I have enough room.
Hi Jeff, I did take some time and laid it out with 4 meter wide lanes using irrigation hoses, That allowed me to run the track layout a few times get a feel for it. Then after I was happy with it I used weedkiller on the lanes. AS soon as the grass died it was pretty easy to use fill ta do the rest! I you build one, just be sure to take water into account, rain will wreak havoc on most tracks!
Thanks for that, nice track, I am just starting to plan mine. Good tips about jump heights and raising track in the distance. I find it very hard to judge at speed and 100m away. What do you think is the maximum comfortable distance from the RC to the driver? I imagine the height of the stand would make some difference.
Very cool. What took you to that part of the world? Where about in Ecuador are you near? the coast? or the orient? and is this your own property? Cheers!
One thing I’ve learned about ramps- Your landing ramp should be almost twice as long as your launch ramp. It’s almost impossible to land well on a ramp that’s the same length as your launch ramp.
You are so right! The reason my track is set up like that is so that you can go in either direction, and since long landing ramps wouldn't give the lift in the other direction when made "bi-directional", the compromise I found eventually was to make longer ramps with a bit of a lip to give the launch necessary. That would they would serve as jumps in one direction and landing ramps in the other direction. It worked pretty well, at least for my purposes. I loved this track, loads of sweat and tears but such a nice escape from work on the weekends!
I've admired that track since the first time I saw it....and I was thinking man that must have been a TON of work. Thanks for sharing it with us! How do you keep the weeds off of it?
I was thinking maybe weed killer, but wasn't sure thought maybe a scraper or raking device too. Either way the results are fantastic, and lanes are very well defined! We use weed killer frequently on our farm, along with rototiller, cut harrow etc, if not the weeds will take over everything, they're like my arch enemy! Anyway again, thanks for sharing it, I'm inspired to get working on my own.
Man thats Totally crazy that you built all that by hand! It is a perfect track, I have seen your cars running on it many times and it just looks Sweet! Great job mate (0:
Hey Jason, nice video! If you are still in Ecuador would you be interested in working on a project near Quito? Also how can I can get to your track to try it out? Cheers
Very cool, what scale? For me the trick was managing water and drainage, you have to have a plan for rain or else it will get destroyed during the winter time.
No, this is in the mountains of Ecuador, much higher altitude than the jungle, though we do get a bit of fog blown up from the coast from time to time. Thanks for watching!
The track would be great for pitbikes too ;)
One of the best things about that track is the view.. WOW!!!!! Nice track too.
Thanks a lot, glad you liked the view! This was at a rural property about 1 hour from where I live in Cuenca, Ecuador. Unfortunately we sold it last year because it was just too much maintenance. I'm still mourning...
Nice. So how do you keep it clean from weeds? That’s the biggest issue I think. Maintenance.
Weed Killer. It's nasty stuff that I would rather avoid, but it was the only way for me to manage such a huge space efficiently. Another option would be just to let the grass grow, than mow the lanes real short and keep the exterior longer...
If i were to drive on this track, i'd probably get constantly distracted by the stunning scenery. Great location and a great track!
Great advice. That’s a big help. Your track looks great and the area you live is absolutely awesome.
Lovely place... beautiful scenery... it will be very fun playing rc there
Thanks a lot my friend, it certainly is! Fortunately land is cheap in Ecuador 😄
Wow I thought for sure you would’ve been using a bobcat or other light machine, by hand huge respect! And those Mountain View’s my gosh. I hope to build a back yard course some day. Thanks for the video.

Very impressive. That track is so cool! Subscribed.
Thanks a lot, really appreciate it! It was a ton of fun to build, but a lot of work.
Amazing man! Especially since you did it all by hand
Thanks a lot Jesse!
Good to have large parcel of land at the backyard for RC
Man, I hope you realise what you've got there, you're sooooo lucky, a race track in your back garden, WOW. and that's not all, I just loved soaking up the background, it's so beautiful and jaw drooping. I'm well jell now. lol

Awesome racetrack you made there
Thanks a lot, it was a ton of work, but well worth it in the end 👍
@ :48 nice shot! Cool track too!
awesome man! I always thought flat land was what you'd want. never thought about hard landings. great idea with cinder blocks for helping with ramps
Just looking at the video and the thumbnail of your track. Not only it looks badass. But it looks like you took inspiration to the Formula One race track in Austria called the Red Bull Ring
Killer work bro!
Thanks a lot, it was a ton of work but totally worth it, we had a blast out there!

Thanks a lot, it was a ton of work but a nice distraction on the weekends!
Looks awesome! Time to start work on the scale trails.......
Nice work. Looks like a blast!
It certainly was, but unfortunately we sold the property last year because it was just too much maintenance. Fun while it lasted thoguh!
Amazing vid. The track is definitely something to be proud of. Really enjoying your channel
Very good track and really great work !!
Awesome vid Jason, love your track and I'm a big fan of your vids brother !! Keep up the good work :)

Cool track brother!
Thanks Jeff!
OHH that looks sweet! Really nice job!
When the day comes, when I build a track, I will be hitting you up for advice! Lol, keep it up with great videos!

What a great track in a wonderful place!
Sweet video Jason. Wish I had land to build something on. ;)
Theibault same 😎
Where is this? It's absolutely beautiful. Is it Hawaii?
It was cool. We would like to make one too. From Amalia (age 8) and Ben dad. Thanks for Sharing. Beautiful mountains in n background
Thanks for watching Ben! It was a ton of fun but well worth the effort. If you do it, just be careful of drainage!
Your track is so cool but thinking of the drivers stand. Could you pick up some cheap second hand scaffolding and bolt one together.
AWESOME DRIVER STAND
REALLY, FROM A BROKE RC'R TOO
Awesome track man! Please keep up the great work!
Love the vids love the cars too
Thanks a lot Leeland, it's good clean fun 👍
Great track bro! Almost better than our club track ;)
In the Andes? Wow! My brothers died up in them hills decades ago. I'm sure you've heard of them. Una
buena pista! Ciao!
The RC Cave
Wasn't referring to the Columbian issues. More like the doomed rugby team that crashed in the Andes......
Fantastic track and great impressions!
Great job! Very nice track.
Fantastic track and really great Job....big thumbs up 👍👍

Thank you for inviting my friend, I feel very honored 👍👍
very nice self made track man, really jealous!! I usually make on-road rc tracks!
Awesome!
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful area! Is RC popular in Ecuador, or it's just for personal use?
Thanks a lot Ken. The RC hobby does have a very small but very dedicated following here, but Ecuador is not a rich country and RC toys are expensive! I'd totally do this but I live in California and owning property is as much of a dream as being an astronaut here.
Ha ha, I hear you Chuck, I'm from SF Bay Area but now I live in Ecuador. Land is much more affordable here!
Man, that's one great track!

Wow, cool happened. As always interesting Our like # 52
I used cedar poles to build my tracks layout and it's jumps
sweet track....I'm digging that driver stand made outta plain ole center blocks...and that double jump....how did you measure out the sloped landing?!
wow, thats awesome!
Wow this was a really cool track, how long did it take you to build? Keep the content coming!
Very cool. What took you to that part of the world? Where about in Ecuador are you near? the coast? or the orient? and is this your own property? Cheers!
