Ugh god that would be hard to read. I do believe that she'd be deeply attracted to him, given her past romantic history. Maybe they'll get married in Winds, and things would go from bad to worse.

What really nails it for me is Mel, she sees truthful visions in her flames, but is just terrible at working out what they actually mean. She says, "When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone." As you mentioned, the red star has bled, Euron is literally gathered darkness (in all his finery), his armour is described as being like smoke, and he's sailing on literal salt with a horn that binds dragons ... if he doesn't claim one of the three known ones, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he managed to wake one up from some lump of oily black stone (perhaps under the stones of a certain High Tower)
there’s that special book regarding dragons that Tyrion mentions in an early ADWD chapter. the one that’s locked up deep within the citadel. maybe euron will wake a textual “dragon” by opening/reading the book if he gets it? lol
If the Great empire of the Dawn was indeed a dragon empire, then it makes sense that they married brother to sister, just as the Valyrians did. This would mean that the amethyst empress and the bloodstone emperor aren't only siblings, they're married. Meaning Nissa Nissa was indeed the wife of Azor Ahai.
I've been reading Lovecraft and this passage slapped me in the face: "...[Cthulhu statues] yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature [...] A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings." Call of Cthulhu. I've been aware of Cthulhu for ages from pop culture exposure, but never the descriptive association with dragons. I think Euron's metaphorical (or metatextual goal) is to wake/summon Cthulhu by wedding the Kraken with the Dragon. Not that we are going to see the guy, but I think the plot is GRRM winking at him.
Small Point: Euron wants to marry Dany, who is parallel to the amethyst empress. The amethyst empress was killed by her brother. Valyrians marry brother to sister.
Yes the parallels line up pretty well. And the conclusion would be that Euron wants Dany to use her for blood magic, a la Nissa Nissa / Amethyst Empress
The breakdown of how Euron could be Urrathon Night Walker because of how he compares to Urrathon GoodBrother is exactly the sort of thing I come to this channel for. Great work as always LML.
Agreed I always thought it one of the creepiest things in asoiaf, more so cause I can imagine someone in history doing something like this. Like sure euron is terrifying and kinda full of magic but the Silence creeped me out cause it was the most non magical part about him. Just a boat that is horrifying just by reputation which it lives up to. It’s literally a ship sailed by eurons little cruelties (little in comparison), he cut their tongues because the noise irritated him, it’s painted red not to have to wash the bloodshed. By itself the ship is nightmare fuel but it’s one of the smallest aspects of Euron which given the rest of him just raises his entire character to new levels of terrifying
I felt that the show runners decided to forego the Greyjoy storyline early in the series and when faced with it playing a major role in the outcome of the finale (similar to how they ignored Dorne for the shows entirety and then attempted to shoehorn it in, in a way that made no sense) they decided to make the Night King take the role of what Euron would become in the books, as you mention. Early Euron I feel was truly a weird hybrid of Victarion himself and then in the last seasons became just a weird sad Victarion.
Euron is my most anticipated plotline. I blame humanity's natural morbid curiosity, but I'm also intensely intrigued by the history and magic (leading to potential godhood) that Euron is wrapped up in. He is worldbuilding, in a sense. I think he'll show the limits of magic and power in ASOIAF.
I think GRRM is going to absolutely go to town with his version of Lovecraftian nightmare when Euron does whatever he's going to do at Oldtown. I'm *really* looking forward to it, but in a "look at a car crash" way, sorta. It's gonna be fucked up
I hope he ends up as the overall main villain, if not him, it'll probably be the Great Other which I believe is going to be the book version of the Night King.
The part about the bloodstone emperor being azor ahai and the amethyst empress being nissa nissa. Made me think the tradition of valerians wedding there siblings comes from the bloodstone emperor and amethyst empress possibly being married, the way the legend say azor ahai was married to nissa nissa.
To the idea that Azor Ahai is villain, i would suggest that he was a person who did horrible stuff, because he believed it will save the world from a prophesized Apocolypse, but eventually caused it through his actions. Because in the Story the Azor Ahai Prophecy is linked with Melisandre influence over Stannis and his people and how her prophecy Brings his cause on dark path
Bran will be Euron's foil. Extraordinary Evil in the end gets defeated by an Innocent God-Child Bran... The Winged Wolf. Bran will warg the mute Crewmen of Euron's Ship - Silence and will turn on him for Vengeance. Euron will meet death at the hands of those whom he used to gain Power.
I like it ! Jon ,Bran an Dany join forces vs Euron and the whites during the long night .Arya and the hound go after Cersie. On some ninja shit .all in darkness covered ashes .
I’ve been searching desperately for a channel that makes in depth videos about the actual novels and character breakdowns and I’m glad to say I’ve finally found it. Finding this channel made me get more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.
Dude, Euron is at this point the most fascinating character in ASOIF, and you do the BEST deep analysis of the symbolism, foreshadowing, and significant motifs in the series. I'm so looking forward to your Part 2 now. I just finished watching this video, but if you don't mind, I'm just going to watch it again now...
My personal pet theory is that Theon and Euron’s arcs are parallel. Both defy the intentions of the Ironborn, invade sacred ground shall we say, play with forces much greater than they can control with far too high ambitions. Hopefully that means Euron will become the Others’ “Reek” in the end.

I figure the Valyrians (and the various other dragonlord descendants) were descendants of the Amethyst empress. Before the bloodstone emperor usurped the throne and brought in the long night. So the parallel will be Danyerys conquers Westeros, Euron usurps her, long night starts again, Jon takes it back from Euron. Oh also Pirates are fine parallels to Kings. Each captain is King on their ship. So its not as much a stretch as you make it seem.
I for one LOVE the symbolism! And in this case it is so powerful and clear that anyone who thinks GRRM doesn’t do this intentionally is just not paying attention. Symbolism is what makes your podcasts so fascinating. Don’t be shy about your Mythical Astronomy powers because they set you apart!
Something you said in another video relating to Euron, that he found a suit of valyrian steel plate that fit him perfectly during his travels, made me think about the one ring that seems capable of changing its size based on the wearer
Or more puerile, the DnD feature of some enchanted armor to refit itself within a size class. The man is wearing RPG gear in a Low Fantasy Medieval setting.
"Actually grew to over an hour in length" This is a reformed Lucifer Means Lightbringer! I remember the days of split-up scripts still being three hours in length!
I can’t think about Euron and not think about Saagael, the lord of darkness who was summoned by an accidental blood sacrifice in one of George’s oldest stories. There’s even a religion that worships Saagael mentioned in awoiaf. There’s GOTTA be something there
ooh, that sounds very Lovecraft, and very like my idea that maybe Euron will channel the spirit of dead AA or NK and that it will take him over. What happens with Saagael in this other story now?
Lucifer means Lightbringer so he gets summoned through a bloody altar and is confronted by the hero, Dr Weird, who is this GREEN AND GOLD wraith spirit and he gets sent back through the altar he was born from. There’s this light and dark theme going on through that story in which Dr weird, the wraith, is on the side of light and Saagael, the demon prince, is on the side of darkness.
Lucifer means Lightbringer it’s called “Only Kids Are Afraid of The Dark” and it’s like 14 pages so I definitely recommend picking it up Because there are too many connections
Usually I’d jump right into that theory, but I really think that’s just how George writes, he likes to put little meaningless (so far) references to his other works. I haven’t read the story you mention but I know that there’s a reference to Baccalon The Pale Child in The Forsaken chapter, the pale child is the deity of this religious order of warmongering space faring humans called The Steel Angels from the story “And 7 times never kill man” it’s a really interesting story but I don’t think it will mean anything to ASOIF which I think is probably also the case with your reference
Great stuff, thanks. I love riding the pause button to take note of the artwork and artists; you do have a knack for finding the coolest work out there. I also appreciate the fact that you occasionally make me spit coffee through my nose.
Euron is basically Bob from Twin Peaks, and I'm so here for it. I love characters that are just the embodiment of "burn the world" but REALLY despise them in real life. Can we just keep those kinds of people in fiction, please?
I see lots of people comparing Euron to the Joker, I'm not a Joker expert but they really seem different, the Joker seem like a radical nihilist, totaly enjoying chaos and destruction. Whilst Euron isn't a nihilist, he is very egotistical, he wants power, and the chaos he causes seems to be collateral. But I might be wrong x)
Also Valyrians loved their brother and sister matches. So Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa were probably related. And since I also believe that Ths Bloodstone Emperor was Azor Ahai he must have been in a marriage (albeit an unhappy one, like Aerys and Rhaella) with his sister, The Amethyst Empress. I think they also parallel Rhaenyra and her brother Aegon. They were not a couple but like the Amethyst Empress, Rhaenyra was chosen as her father's heir and her brother Aegon killed her to get the throne. And it ushered the end of dragons.
My boi Vic won't be able to handle the temptation of blowing Eurons horn, something will go awry for those 3 bastards and Vic will go in for the blow to make dragons come.
I'd never considered Euron larping as a Valyrian enough to make him fit the role of a dragonlord in the vein of Azor Ahai, but if the theories in your latest series hold, almost all Ironborn noble houses have distant Great Empire ancestry. Even if the Greyjoys don't have direct dragonlord ancestry per se, Euron then at least has a somewhat legitimate claim to the cultural mantle he's draped himself in. This on top of the fact that he's a skinchanger also makes him a perfect dark parallel to Jon. His role in the wider story then makes a whole lot more sense, but this also means that the Ironborn in general are fulfilling a poetically symmetrical role in it as well, instead of just being cool window dressing, which is what they ended up being in the show.
Oooooh. Snap. Not one minute in and I lost my mind. Euron is going to be the next knights king. It makes some much sense I could have come up with it.... But I didn't! Awesome. And now to watch the rest.
Yes! I love that! O.O Ever since his appearance at the Kingsmoot, it was clear: if these books see a God-King rise, it would be Euron. And if the other figures are just a frame the show-end suddenly makes sense: The Braavosi will not suffer God-Kings making rules: They could send out Arya, and if she killed him she could claim the Silence as her reward, to have the world's best ship to go exploring the unexplored.
It's a trope that calls for GRRM to crush. I think he'll get a nuke to the face and burn in his fancy armor. He’s a fish who wants to be part of a world he once glimpsed when he bit a bait not intended for him and was thrown back into the sea. He’s going to jump out of the waters, right into a frying pan. -Team Victarion

11:12 "He sure is trying to dress up like a Valyrian" I feel like "the folly of pretenders" is Author's Exhibit A for the core theme of "Facing Winter [challenges, fear of death] means growing up [forsaking comforting lies/childish stories]." The prologue ends with Royce honoring himself as a man (of TNW), not a child, by standing against winter. The story then starts with Bran going to witness the execution of the deserter, who failed to be a man (of TNW) and ran from his true duty, pretending he could escape death. Bran had to see that he was wrong, specifically to prepare him for the end of childhood/winter. All these pale pretenders, attempting to escape the inevitability of death: Euron, and the pale "Undying" Warlocks he got his blue tint from. "Aegon," who's likewise *dyed* blue and ought to have died, but came back from across the water with suspiciously miraculous timing. WW magic of both the White Walker and Weirwoodnet variety are literally Childrens' attempts to avoid death, cursing them to eternal undeath.
Hey man, REALLY love these theory vids! Especially when pertaining to Euron or the other more "Esoteric" ideas but i gotta know, what is that/those eerie tracks that play whenever youre reading from dreams or Eurons Quotes? I believe the first starts around 2:40.

@@DavidLightbringer Of course! I live in Phx and we have had some pretty gnarly skies from the Cali fires. I can only imagine the apocalyptic feeling over there lol. Glad you guys are doing ok.
Like this guy said, there are similarities between Euron and Aurion heading to places of knowledge/power to carve out their empires. But what if it doesn't stop there? A lot of people talk about what Euron's next move is going to be. Yet no one considers if he will be alive to do anything after this. What if Euron dies when he commits his mass sacrifice and blows his Dragonbinder, in an attempt at attaining godhood that completely backfires, like Aurion's attempt to become emperor of the remnants of Valyria? I also find it funny that if the theory that Rhoynar magic had a hand in causing the Doom of Valyria has a chance to be the real explanation, then Euron's use of magic that could spell the doom via the Wall coming down would be a historical repetition of the past.
I think one of my favorite aspects of Martins writing is his use of myths and archetypes to expand on his story and themes. Like how the azor ahai myth can be interpreted in many ways and not to jump the gun I think this is personified in the many different people that fit that archetype. On one hand you have the “last hero” side of the myth, the heroic visage of a man wielding a flaming sword to save the world from the night that never ends. While on the other hand you have the evil nights king incarnation of the character who lml has pointed out(possibly) needlessly killed his wife for the sake of power, making someone else pay the price for magic when it was his price to play. Euron is most clearly this latter version of the myth and maybe an unpopular opinion but I think stannis will lean towards this side if he does indeed sacrifice his daughter. On the heroic side you have jon and dany that are the incarnation of the last hero expression of the archetype. I don’t think that need much explanation. Watching all of lml stuff I’m almost convinced that there is no one azor ahai but many expressions of the same idea and the prophecy fitting so many people is perhaps the point
for sure... and the more I think about Euron as a third head of the dragon and the incarnation of AA that most closely matches the original villain character... it just fits
Lucifer means Lightbringer I also believe this ties into the idea that dany won’t god mad. I think it would go against the general lesson that the azor ahai myth is going for, that sacrifice is required but it should be the person who is making the choice that should sacrifice. So it wouldn’t make sense that dany would start burning total innocence. I think more line would be dany making a needed sacrifice that history wouldn’t like too kindly on and its Jon who take that fall because he believes in dany’s vision. Assuming the show had any truth in what happened. I mean at that point Jon would be an undead possibly frozen ice and fire zombie while dany would be the breaker of chains freer of slaves.
Reactions to the notification about this video 0. Oh LOVELY LML has a new video! 1. Can't wait lemme just get my coffee 2. Wait this is a video about Euron, do I have emotional strength for that right now? 3. *waits for 11 hrs until bedtime* oh well I haven't had nightmares in like a fortnight, bring it on Euron
At this point in life, I just want GRRM to finish Euron's chapters. He has the potential to be more terrifying than any literary character I've ever read. The intelligent, psychotic ones are always the best. And GRRM is creepy enough to birth the equivalent of Freddy Kreuger in Westeros, but better.
I don’t see Cersei surviving to ADOS. Out of the main human villains we got, Cersei is pretty weak. In AFFC I was bashing my head against a wall on nearly every single chapter by how stupid she is. She doesn’t really offer anything of value to Euron. Even he has to see which way the political winds are blowing.
She will come back to power in King's Landing I think. Even more paranoid and ruthless than before. An alliance with Euron would be in both there interest.
I think once Cersei’s last kid dies she’s gonna go full burn-the-world mode, and if she can manage to get herself in a gif enough position of power and then lets herself go full psycho she’d be pretty scary from a insane, unpredictable person with nothing to lose sorta standpoint
I think this fits really well, and just the fact that he has blue lips could also be a hint, as people’s lips also become blue when freezing to death I also really like your nissa nissa, destroyed moon and long night connections, and it kind of would make sense that a celestial object exploding near orbit might fill the atmosphere with enough debris to black out the sky, kind of like a nuclear winter
Right, especially when you observe the way that Martin takes basic natural phenomenon and uses it to create magic, such as with obsidian, or the Doom being a magical volcano that leaves a magical fallout zone unlike a natural volcano. So yeah, impact winter from moon meteors as a basic mechanism, but magic meteors and magic moons and all ice demons.
Do you think it’s possible that the people of Ashai taught the Valyrians the art of dragon riding so they could be ready for the next long night? Why would they have just gone over and taught random people the art of controlling and riding dragons? Maybe they were trying to ensure that what happened to them would be prevented or stopped before it got too bad?
Well my answer for that is basically the Great Empire of the Dawn: Dragonlords of Ancient Asshai video. I think the Valyrian ancestors were actually descendants or even refugees from Asshai, essentially.
In the midst of reading "The 3 Body Problem." a really interesting sci-fi book. It goes along way toward explaining the "moon meteors" and irregular seasons of Westeros. I think George borrowed the idea from that book.
I also find it fascinating how the entire Azor Ahai myth seems to be surrounded by infertility. All the women associated with Azor Ahai figures have problems bearing children. Dalla of the wildlings, Selyse Baratheon, Elia Martell, and of course Dany herself. The only exception to that is the Night's Queen, if your theory is correct. Euron sacrificing his pregnant salt-wife kind of reinforces that Azor Ahai and fertility are not a good match...
He’s a character who is trading his children or ability to have them for magic power essentially. It’s a big theme of the sorcery in the story, how it consumes you and exacts a cost
Looking forward to part two. I haven't found better videos on Euron than what you and Quinn produce! I find Euron to be the most interesting character in terms of how he is going to influence the story, and your take gets me so excited for Winds!! I have just finished reading the series for the second time, and your channel is tempting me to get stuck right back in from the start haha.
The more Elden Ring lore I see unfold, the more I'm convinced we could piece together ice and fire's story with elden ring lore. It's just a shot in the dark. Something to think on.
he is one of the reasons I am waiting 4ever the 6th book although irritated. I am both scared and thrilled to see his plans unfold but I must wait. The TV show made him a bummer character.
If George doesn't finish the series, LML and Quinn should finish it. LML and Quinn have already plotted out each character's TWOW arc and predicted how TWOW will end and how the story will conclude in ADOS. LML's theories are canon, in my opinion.

By itself the ship is nightmare fuel but it’s one of the smallest aspects of Euron which given the rest of him just raises his entire character to new levels of terrifying
Silence of God..perhaps? “I killed one brother and pissed in the ocean waiting to be struck down”
Yes the series is literally called a *SONG*of Ice and he is the silence. The one to bring an end to all songs.😊
Well said
Euron is my most anticipated plotline.
It's gonna be fucked up
I think Bran needs a proper warrior sorcerer to be his foil and I think Euron is exactly that.
I anxiously wait for winds to someday finish.
Because in the Story the Azor Ahai Prophecy is linked with Melisandre influence over Stannis and his people and how her prophecy Brings his cause on dark path
this seems very possible, absolutely . It's one of the main questions I have about AA, wheher he thought he was doing good or not
Another example of Marwyn saying that "prophecy will bite your prick off every time"!
That’s a cool idea!! I like it
Wow! I love this! That's one heck of a theory, and one I can actually see happening and enjoy.
I like this..what a great idea!

Been waiting ages for this one. Thought it was never coming!!!! Great work once again lml....
I for one LOVE the symbolism! And in this case it is so powerful and clear that anyone who thinks GRRM doesn’t do this intentionally is just not paying attention. Symbolism is what makes your podcasts so fascinating. Don’t be shy about your Mythical Astronomy powers because they set you apart!

you are VERY good at this. every video you make seems to be better than the last!
Agreed :) 👏🏼👏🏼
I was just going to say the same thing - you've gotten really good! (& of course the content is brilliant 😃)

Mindbuggering stuff! Euron is as dark as they come. And he has some hard competition in these books.
This is perfect timing I just finished Victarion’s first chapter in AFFC
Ah, my morning coffee is complete!
The Joker of the seven kingdoms.
My word! The jokes are coming thick and hard..
@MegaJdizzle27 reference? Lol :)
Oh man, I've been waiting for this, I'm so exited!
Oooooh. Snap. Not one minute in and I lost my mind. Euron is going to be the next knights king. It makes some much sense I could have come up with it.... But I didn't!
Awesome.
And now to watch the rest.
He or Quinn should have it where they read the books on RUclips. I love the way they put a chill an add emotion to whatever they read
I’m so glad George isn’t going to have Euron suddenly become Captain Meme like on the show.
Yes! I love that! O.O
Ever since his appearance at the Kingsmoot, it was clear: if these books see a God-King rise, it would be Euron.
And if the other figures are just a frame the show-end suddenly makes sense: The Braavosi will not suffer God-Kings making rules: They could send out Arya, and if she killed him she could claim the Silence as her reward, to have the world's best ship to go exploring the unexplored.
I've been looking forward to this since you announced it.
It's a trope that calls for GRRM to crush.
I think he'll get a nuke to the face and burn in his fancy armor.
He’s a fish who wants to be part of a world he once glimpsed when he bit a bait not intended for him and was thrown back into the sea.

Thank you so much for another in-depth video I’m gonna sit back while at work not on phones smoke up and listen to your excellent theories keep them coming I need something to do and get paid for it
yeah this one you got get in the mood for man, it's Euron
11:12 "He sure is trying to dress up like a Valyrian"
I feel like "the folly of pretenders" is Author's Exhibit A for the core theme of "Facing Winter [challenges, fear of death] means growing up [forsaking comforting lies/childish stories]." The prologue ends with Royce honoring himself as a man (of TNW), not a child, by standing against winter.

Lucifer means Lightbringer you won’t have to worry about the Others.
Just started the video, but it's already amazing.

I think this fits really well, and just the fact that he has blue lips could also be a hint, as people’s lips also become blue when freezing to death
I also really like your nissa nissa, destroyed moon and long night connections, and it kind of would make sense that a celestial object exploding near orbit might fill the atmosphere with enough debris to black out the sky, kind of like a nuclear winter
This was fantastic! You really have been creating some great stuff lately. I look forward to part two.
@@DavidLightbringer Destroying the children will destroy the world, in other words. 😆
