Euron from the books: "Who knows more of gods than I? Horse gods and fire gods, gods made of gold with gemstone eyes, gods carved of cedar wood, gods chiseled into mountains, gods of empty air... I know them all. I have seen their peoples garland them with flowers, and shed the blood of goats and bulls and children in their names. And I have heard the prayers, in half a hundred tongues. Cure my withered leg, make the maiden love me, grant me a healthy son. Save me, succor me, make me wealthy... protect me! Protect me from mine enemies, protect me from the darkness, protect me from the crabs inside my belly, from the horselords, from the slavers, from the sellswords at my door. Protect me from the Silence." He laughed. "Godless? Why, Aeron, I am the godliest man ever to raise sail! You serve one god, Damphair, but I have served ten thousand. From Ib to Asshai, when men see my sails, they pray."
Euron from the show: "Hee hoo, ah fook the queen!"

Euron Greyjoy is perhaps the type of evil I'm most intrigued by, the type of evil that sees something awful and is drawn to it instead of repulsed. Like, Euron is implied to have seen the apocalypse coming and instead of being horrified by it, like Bran, he instead was intrigued and has done everything in his power to actively speed it along. I just find that so fascinating, a person's mind going zip when it normally would zag. Something so simple as a difference in perspective spiralling out to cause so much pain and destruction.

This guy legitimately is the reason why a Feast for Crows has such an underrated place amongst all of the books and the expansion on the Dorne and Greyjoy POV's truly added a level of scale to this conflict we hadnt truly seen yet.
Also, something i find amazing is how in the years following Euron's first appearance everyone kinda considered him a fraud with a big mouth until the release of the Forsaken Chapter revealed a level of dark magic connected to Euron's character thats been hinted since the beginning of the series. Euron as maybe the only other guy with Greenseer potential besides Bran and this dude would make Joffery and Ramsay look like the children they are in the grand scheme of things.

Roose Bolton in the show was never portrayed to be more evil than Ramsay, unlike the books. Yeah the Ironborn are bastards, for sure, but I don’t think Euron can be said to be their culmination (though they did have an impact on him). The only thing imho which is missing here is the hole king's blood sacrifice thing.
Alt shift x has a great RUclips essay on Euron where he discusses Euron causing a massive blood sacrifice of his own fleet, plus possibly his brother, a bunch of priests and! his unborn child, all to cause some massive kraken appocalypse!
Yes, with Magic in the series, and no completion the to the story, Euron's plans could go anywhere, but still the fact of who he's willing to sacrifice here really is insane!
Indeed the way he entrances, seduces, uses, manipulates and ultimately abuses Falia flowers, especially if it's all part of some crazy sacrifice plot, is a microcosm of just how insane he is!

Euron Greyjoy truly is the most devious, malicious, terrifyingly evil character in A Song of Ice and Fire, and it is truly a tragedy to see what the show did to him. I think that Euron is going to use the Horn of Joramun he steals from Sam when he burns down Old Town in the Winds of Winter, and he is going to bring down the Wall, allowing the Others (White Walkers) to enter and wreak havoc on Westeros. Euron wants to initiate the apocalypse, and there is no other apocalypse in the entire world of Ice and Fire that is as notorious and deadly as the Long Night.

Euron even scares the priests including his uncle. Sometimes madness doesn't cripple like Aerys Targaryen but instead makes an insanely driven and capable leader like Euron.

As much as I like psychology, and breaking down why people do evil things, there are many cases of people being loved and treated very well as children, only to become just as terrible as the ones who were abused. I forget the name of the famous killer that people usually mention, but the kid that claimed Affluenza is another case IMO. His mother (and father) spoiled him, gave him everything he wanted, and he grew up not caring about life. Although his father worked all the time to provide the family with everything, that is seen as a negative so I will blame the father as well.

The strongest evidence that Euron has actually visited Old Valyria is in the Forsaken chapter, when he wears a set of fullplate armour that Aeron believes is entirely Valyrian Steel, something rare even at the height of Valyrian power. While this is most likely, I also like an alternative idea: the secrets of creating new Valyrian Steel were lost to the Doom, but the free city of Qohor retains the skills to reforge existing Valyrian Steel, and one maester alleged that the spells involved are blood magic, common in Valyrian magic, and even child sacrifice. If reforging existing Valyrian Steel requires such sacrifice, forging new steel must require similar magic. Therefore in lieu of visiting Valyria, Euron possibly discovered the techniques to forge new steel, and had a captive smith forge the fullplate armour for him, fully willing to sacrifice whatever and whoever was necessary.

If we ever get another book, it may be possible we learn something of what Valyria is like from Euron since he would have gone there. May peel back a little bit of the mystery. I don’t know how many other fans feel the same, but for me I’ve always wanted to hear what the ruins of Valyria are like. In the show, Jorah and Tyrion sail through it like it’s nothing, which really annoyed me because the books make it seem as if Valyria is literally some horrific Hell on Earth.

TWO books??!! I haven’t read any of them, but this whole time I thought everyone was waiting on a single book to finish the series.

Thank You for analyzing the book version. Way more satisfying than hearing,
    "THE FINGER IN THE BUM...."

We aren't getting any more books. Mr Martin has written himself into a much bigger knot than his last one in Mereen. 11 years and a couple of preview chapters to show for it?
Euron's full madness will never be revealed. So much promise. The show made him a meme and a digital penetration enthusiast. Book Euron would have been as a god, unremorseful, who bargains with eldritch beings. And only needed one eye to do so.
It's been mentioned in another comment, and it made much more sense, but the show should have used Victarion. Or even bloody Balon. Not this quarter assed version of Euron.....

I recommend Makuta Teridax from Bionicle. One of my favorite villains during my childhood.
