Ok that’s fair…I remember that run in the RS6. It was the only time I saw it post that time though. The M4 pulls hard on the RS6 However and when x-drive comes into play quarter mile results will be a different story.
Man that Stelvio shocked me in the drag race, I thought it was gonna slug home 3rd in comparison to the BMW and Audi, that was waaaaay closer than I expected.
I would love to see a Stelvio thats had the £600 engine remap to put out 600bhp to see how it would do against those two in a rerun of the race. Sure its cheating by remapping but still given the low cost to get an extra 100bhp seems really good.

They are scarce, I believe, due to their reliability as oppose to pricing. I still really like Alfa Romeo with that being said.
The M4 did perform admirably, however the Audi and Alfa designs are already a few years behind. All in all, I think overall the Alfa (Mom's Taxi) punched well above it's class.

I guess BMW is underrating its performance again. Most dyno owners already claim M's have a tendency to spread higher. Most M5 CS have about 675-720hp, many M550i 550+. This M4 Competition does not seem to have less than 540-560hp. It is lighter, but once a certain speed is reached and weight influence is not that important anymore, the powertrain of the Audi should beat the BMW - which it did not. Either the Audi has less power, more loss (which I doubt as quattro systems are usually greatly optimized) or simply has exactly the power it claims to have while the BMW does have much more.
After getting in a Stelvio I can confirm that this car pulls like crazy! The way the front lifts once you're getting mad on the gas pedal is mind blowing

@Can do Life It will. Because the M xdrive works in a way that it only sends power to the front when the rear wheels start losing the grip. Therefore, M xdrive really works as RWD in a rolling race on a dry track.

Great race. From a dig, the AWD version would definitely win, but due to drivetrain losses the RWD version would probably win in the roll race. I think on power while already moving, and for most backroad blasts, the RWD car would feel much quicker. It’s the one I would get. Actually, I would get a base M3, non comp, with a manual trans (being that I live in the US).

The performance of M4 (and M3) is simply amazing and it’s been shown be the case again here. I was expecting it to be blown away by the RS6, you know, a performance car from the class above with 600bhp and 800nm, but it wasn’t. That S58 engine and gearbox combo is so immense, far quicker than what it’s power and torque would suggest, that I do wonder if the M4 has more power than BMW claims it has…550bhp?

Bmw underrates its power figures a lot, and the audi is quite heavy. A new m340i makes same or sometimes more power than an s4 on dyno where on paper it ha way less. This is just one example out of all of new bmws, especially m5 and M8 series. Nothing out of the world, simple physics rules always.
This new generation BMW's is really impressive and tbf with you, the new generation of Audi's is really underwhelming, they look amazing but are barely faster than their older generation while AMG and M really stepped up their game.

Mercedes typically goes for a bold statement with bias towards luxury and BMW also has bold statement designs but unlike Mercedes it is typically more biased towards sportiness.

Exactly! Would have been interesting to see a second run with warmer tires and a third run after a M4 burnout. It was so close already that I am almost certain that the M4 would have won the 1/4 race in that case it came so strong at the end. The new M4 X-drive will beat them all soon.

@Can do Life It will. Because the M xdrive works in a way that it only sends power to the front when the rear wheels start losing the grip. Therefore, M xdrive really works as RWD in a rolling race on a dry track.
BMW is definitely wayyy underreporting on that power output. The new M3/M4 is insane. Also that gearbox response is crazy

It's a great drive Sam. I own the 280 Veloce which has a great fun factor for me. The styling in the cabin is just lush.
M4 engine output must be something around 550,580 hp with 700 nm.. The thing is insanely quick.

The BMW would be far the most fun. You can tell from this video. The others just bounce off the line like you known four wheel drives will, but the fact the BMW launches with rear drive and then begins to absolutely walk the other two shows mighty in gear acceleration. I bet it's fantastic to hoon around in.

Great race. From a dig, the AWD version would definitely win, but due to drivetrain losses the RWD version would probably win in the roll race. I think on power while already moving, and for most backroad blasts, the RWD car would feel much quicker. It’s the one I would get. Actually, I would get a base M3, non comp, with a manual trans (being that I live in the US).

The performance of M4 (and M3) is simply amazing and it’s been shown be the case again here. I was expecting it to be blown away by the RS6, you know, a performance car from the class above with 600bhp and 800nm, but it wasn’t.
That S58 engine and gearbox combo is so immense, far quicker than what it’s power and torque would suggest, that I do wonder if the M4 has more power than BMW claims it has…550bhp?

Bmw underrates its power figures a lot, and the audi is quite heavy. A new m340i makes same or sometimes more power than an s4 on dyno where on paper it ha way less. This is just one example out of all of new bmws, especially m5 and M8 series. Nothing out of the world, simple physics rules always.
This new generation BMW's is really impressive and tbf with you, the new generation of Audi's is really underwhelming, they look amazing but are barely faster than their older generation while AMG and M really stepped up their game.
I wouldn't say it's embarrassing for the others, just crazy impressive for BMW. Amazing car tho, that's for sure.

Yeah current gen audis are not a step up over the previous gen. Amg and m did well but amg and audi don't underrates their power figures t much as bmw does. You can check dyno results of new bmws. Still McLaren is king of underrating power figures. This is both good and bad. Good for customers who get more power per buck but bad for competition, they can put a powerful car on a lower segment to make it look faster.

It just means that's it's an estate car that's powerful.the reason the RS6 is loved is bcos it's a perfect balance between luxury and sportiness. Well that's pretty much reason anyone wud love any Audi, cos Audi likes to make understated cars with a balance between sportiness and luxury. Mercedes typically goes for a bold statement with bias towards luxury and BMW also has bold statement designs but unlike Mercedes it is typically more biased towards sportiness.
