When I first got out of the military we were not told about VA benefits. When I did find out about them filed a claim it was not until almost 30 or 40 years later I find out that the VA rated me at 10% for PTSD and put me in a special category where they did not rate anything else, so every single time that I filed a claim for anything it was an automatic denial. Started studying everything I could find about my VA rights and I ended up getting lawyers which gate me 70% for PTSD and for unemployability. I have since run across other veterans that are currently having the same problems they get raided for one thing put in a special category where they're never rated for anything else. When I do find those guys I take them off to the side and educate them

Jim I so sorry you were treated like that. Your story is all to familiar to me as it is mine and my sibling's also no pre discharge similar on VA benefits, the only benefit I ever knew about was a home loan.. The VA has lost my in service medical records and the County VA VSO was absolutely no help. I did recently find out that my Congressmen maybe able to help with my records so I will contact him. I have been homeless now for 16 yrs and I am just discussted with what was done and being done to older Vets.

In California QTC Medical is a contractor for the VA and every single one I have went to has went against my case. I've had one actual VA doctor that did not care what the VA wanted he was genuinely interested in my problems and he wrote a report that once the lawyers got ahold of it they used it to help me win my case

I was a supply marine that conducted personal effects of fellow marines KIA in theater. I conducted personal effects of the marine by handling their gear , clothes, kevlar, anything and everything they owned. I saw with my own eyes bloodstains on their clothes that were still wet and brain matter in their helmet. Is this a strong case? I've been out since 2011 and just filing now! I believe it is a strong case! I have pictures and dates of the Marines who passed away in combat corroborating that we were there in theater at the same time. My service, even boot camp, was much less stressful than my previous life. Years after my discharge, I was traumatized at the VA hospital. I told the person who examined me that a doctor at the VA had threatened to kill me. I was told that the computer would not accept a death threat as a traumatic event & that I had to actually be facing death. (there was no way to input my situation into the computer & therefore I could not be referred for treatment) I already have a 100% rating, I am just trying to get help.

I had a few traumatizing incidents that I experienced first hand and secondarily. I had sworn written notarized letters from an eyewitness to what I saw and what I had to do to save a fellow soldiers life. It's so crazy how the psychiatrist can prescribe me all kinds of medications for someone suffering from PTSD, anxiety and depression, but will not give me the diagnosis. Couldn't that be considered malpractice if the psychiatrist is medicating me for something I have not been diagnosed with? I've been mistreated by v.a. staff openly while I was working in compensated work therapy program. I tried to walk away but was hounded by the v.a. worker. I have so many degrading experiences with the v.a. administration and I have everything documented and I know it's time I get what should of been given a long time ago.

ETS Nov 1969. Father retired USAF, told me bout va home loan & school benefits. In early 70s got school benefit for several months. Circumstances drove me out of school & had pay back some monies. Fast forward 2017 & bump into a vet who asked me if knew bout benefits. No didn't. Man did my ears open up!
Went to vso 2017. Lost yr when went back within yr to file claim. Ended with June 2018 ITF date that took back & forth till June 2022, to get final ratings for CAD & T2.
My illnesses began showing up in 1993.
Best can rember, VA didn't fess up with the T2 disease until 1999. The heart was 2010. Think about that: 24 yrs to confess AO was cause of T2. And then 35 yrs on AO heart related. Not sure bout ALL the othe diseases problems truly believe the government knew many, many yrs but didn't want to admit their mistakes. They should back pay every single person exposed to AO back to their arrival date in RVN !

    • @HillAndPonton

Marquis, absolutely. We get asked all the time if it's okay to bring in notes. We are of the opinion that you should. That C&P examiner is only seeing you in a snapshot of time. You have to present your case and disability as honestly and as clear as you can. Having to use notes to refer back to regarding your mental health condition is normal. Like you said, many with PTSD have memory and cognition issues.

Hi. Thanks so much for the video..
I've been out the service since 2001. I Recently did an MRI and the VA pain management doc said I have a history of lumbar & cervical radiculopathy (but not sure if that qualifies as an official diagnosis). The doc ordered epidural shots for me beginning next month ..
I was looking at the DBQ for back and neck because I plan on going to a civilian orthopedic doctor and have him fill out. It seems so technical to me (compared to other dbq's) that I'm not sure the doc will feel comfortable filling it out.
Did you have the DBQ filled out by a civilian doc or is that mainly for the C & p examiner? Thanks.
Also this may be a good topic to do a video on because i do not see any other creator doing a detailed video on how a dbq for the back or neck is supposed to look filled out by the provider. Thanks again.

I was in combat and I'm attempting a claim for ptsd. I was in the marines as an infantry mortarman in Afghanistan during the war in 2011. The va is trying to say they need more details about my stressor even though I have a combat action ribbon and served with an infantry unit.
Any advice? I don't have the exact date I was in combat and that's practically what they want.

"Because you have PTSD you may not see these..." Is the most unscientific thing I've ever heard. In fact the opposite would be true. This is why veterans should have a little program called OtterAi running while they are being "interviewed" so that we can blow that open.

Good question, Gary. We see that PTSD can often times lead to severe symptoms that resemble other conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, etc. If you haven't yet, we suggest you watch our interview with a Mental Health C&P Examiner. He's a licensed psychologist. ruclips.net/video/9_BdPGGp2Rg/видео.html
We're also releasing a video this week on PTSD and other mental conditions with the same psychologist!

They put me on 6 paín pills a day after getting hurt in Korea.. and now I have degenerative disk dezeese in my lower back and my neck is I had to quit working because my doctor told me that I had two choices quit working or quit walking. So now I am being treated for depression by the VA. Please help me out because I have been without a vehicle for 3 years now and I asked the VA for a grant for 3 or 4 thousand dollars to get a vehicle. And they had the nerve to send me a message that said that íf I was a disabled veteran then anything over 24 thousand dollars would have to come out of my pocket. Thís is Jerry Tipton and I was in the military from 1980 to 1983

    • @HillAndPonton
      @HillAndPonton  2 года назад +1

Mental health conditions are rated under the same criteria so you would need all 3 elements of a successful VA disability claim I listed below. PTSD is a little different because like you mentioned, the VA is looking for stressors. With depression and other mental health issues, you'll primarily be asked to prove the three details below:
      1) a current disability (depression)
      2) an event or incident in service (a few examples: combat, traumatic events, loss of friends, physical injury that led to depression, and more)
      3) a nexus (connection) between your depression and the event(s) that happened in service
