    It’s unfortunate how many people conflate “accessible” with “easy”, just as they conflate “complexity” with “depth. They are not the same things.
    The fact that Jonathan knows the difference is exactly why he’s the right person to lead PoE 2.

    About bricked maps, there's a big difference between high difficulty mods and mods that are straight up brick walls like reflect.
    At least in PoE 2 you have certain mobs that raise a shield that then deflects projectiles, but an entire instance of them is too much imo.

    Id handle the map problem by numbering maps up to tier 12 then they arent "tiered"- instead you name them after gemstones or something- People would expect to climb up to tier 12 and understand theres a difference beyond that and they need to earn higher maps.

    • @fang_xianfu
      @fang_xianfu 3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah I thought it was kind of a mistake calling the new tier 17 maps tier 17. If they had a name like "diamond map" or something, it would be clear that they're a different kind of map and not just another rung on the ladder

    • @masterslayerable
      @masterslayerable 3 месяца назад +1

      Map sustain is always an expectation management thing. For example what they did with the new league is exactly what you need. up to T16 is the normal mapping tier that you should be able to sustain and T17 is the extra treat that is harder and rarer. The Problem I feel if t12 was the baseline is that t15s dont feel even remotely special enough compared to t12 to be justifiably rare. With the current map system the difference between t12 and t16 is not big enough that a t16 feels 'Special'

  • @blablabla7741
    @blablabla7741 3 месяца назад +1

    9:40 I don't think PoE 1 is a "hard" game mechanically, it is difficult for a new player to get in mostly because you don't know how your skills, your items, or your build works, but mechanically you just need to learn how to kite to get through the campaign. So I think it's a win to have harder boss mechanics in PoE 2 because you have more tools to survive, like a dodge skill and ASDW movement. In order to be more approachable for new people it's not about how hard the bosses are, is more like you need to make all the other systems more intuitive so you don't fight the boss underleveled.

    I don’t like the fact that you didn’t comprehend you were playing in Act 1 of the game, like what did you expect, best in slot drops from trash mobs? Like what is all of that about?
    And what everyone is wondering that you (or anyone) haven’t even touched upon once yet is the question of do we get d2 itemization back since the sockets are free’d up? Because that would change up the entire game for much better for the bis slot chase, and runes/jewels/gems to think about as well.

      They care. If the beta is terrible out of the gate that's a big L for them, they'll get bad press and there won't be momentum. If you look in your heart I think you don't actually want to play a bad game either, even if it becomes good later.
      The implication of what they've said is basically that a few things caused it but a major one is that wasd is changing how skills work completely. They're porting all skills onto the "cast while moving" system some classes have and then putting back in the movement speed slowdowns and/or stops in the new animation. That stuff takes FOREVER because it's all just about how the skills feel to play, you have to dial it in. You wouldn't want to play a game where 50% of the skills feel like garbage.

    I do love and respect Jonathan's passion and enthusiasm. But, and it looks like this is an unpopular opinion around here but so be it, every time I hear him talk about POE2 I think more and more that it will be a game I have no interest in playing. I have played the hell out of POE, but a POE-like game that aspires to be Elden Ring and makes you fight an endless array of difficult bosses just to get through the campaign--that sounds like work to me and not fun. Obviously others will disagree and it's fine that not every game suits every player--just a bit sad that a game I'd *really* been looking forward to sounds like it's shaping up to be a game I will actively dislike. (And to be clear, of course I'll give it a shot, and I hope to be proven wrong).
