Coruscant, not a place you wanna live if you’re afraid of heights. Even if you’re on the poor end you’re still essentially walking on a sidewalk built on the side of a skyscraper. 😱

    • @steelrideproductions371

Depends on how low you are. Remember, the city's also built on top of mountains. Not all skyscrapers extend to the lower surface of the planet. Some are built directly on the sides of mountains. A lot of poverty areas are likely on the cliffs of these mountains. So, kind of like rural China I would imagine if rural, mountainous China looked like Shanghai lol

Honstly, i'm surprised lowest levels aren't crushed flat by the wieght of everything above them. I mean, how much extra mass does this planet have by the time of ROTS? It's gravity has to be at least 2 G
For reference, the tallest building on earth is Burj Khalifa, at 2,717 feet (228 m tall) at most 163 floors

Its surface gravity is about one Earth gravity. Its diameter is about 500 miles less than Earth’s. One thing of note, is that the planet’s size does not directly correlate to its surface gravity. For instance, the “surface” gravity of both Saturn and Neptune are roughly equal to the Earth’s 1 G, despite their relative size. The ditermining factors is its mass and density, was well as its radius.
Much of what was the lower levels have indeed been crushed. The lowest reachable levels on verifiable record, worthy of being called levels are levels 5 - 1. However it’s important to note the old surface elevation (and crust thickness) must have varied by kilometers, just as on Earth. So whether levels 5 - 1 are at the original high plains surface or sea level or ocean floor of the deepest regions, or sitting on a kilometer of old city rubble or a kilometer below that region’s original surface. In contrast, the mountain peak at Monument Plaza was compared to the Earth’s highest peak, above sea level.
A planet’s diameter and surface gravity also varies, due to sun-surface irregularities and whether we are talking about at the equator or the poles. The Earth’s diameter is about 50 kilometers greater at the equator compared to the poles.
As for whether the bed rock or crust at any one point can handle the compressive force of the city scape? It’s important to understand that we aren’t talking about any one area’s ability to bare the compressive force of one massive building. Rather the compressive force is distributed across the entire surface. So it’s a matter of whether the lower levels can handle the compressive force as opposed to that of the local bed rock or crust. You could think of it as the lower levels or what was once levels have now become an artificial crust. So where the highest buildings or levels are built is based more on that.

Yeah, set up a well-armed (like, a good bit of military backup) scientific expedition equipped for the various hazards, and tasked with exploring/analyzing/sampling the lower 5 floors while minimizing any potential contamination of the local ecosystem.
The New Republic could certainly do that, divert some of that money going to corrupt politicians to fully fund the expedition. Makes them look good, more focused on discovery and science than the military buildup of the Empire.
And, we’d get a possible epic horror story out of it. Just think, we’re given the perspective of a junior researcher who: hears the blaster fire of their accompanying battalion of soldiers, sees the pitch black that’s only lit up by the lights on their suit (and whatever floodlights the expedition brings), and witnesses some of the horrors that exist there.
We could hear their thoughts about all these things, about the mounting military (and occasional researcher/construction worker) losses, about the environments, and about the horrific creatures that live there. Maybe our researcher could even begin to sympathize with the native species, who are judged as monsters but are really just animals/sapients going about their lives.

Why would the Jedi allow such a lawless and dangerous place right beneath them? Surely the Jedi were aware of what was happening so why would they let so many people suffer in the lower levels? Please make a video on this because it seems like it goes against everything the Jedi stand for and it’s right beneath their main temple.

So, I'll apologize in advance if this comes off as questioning, but does that mean that whole levels of Coruscant exist beneath the hidden Sith shrine, underneath the Jedi Temple? Are the levels so deep, from crust to spires, that the hidden Super Star Destroyer didn't rest on bedrock? The lowest levels weren't even revealed when the cityscape was rent open, to permit the Lusankya to free itself from the planet? I want to mention when Coruscant was vong-formed, because that definitely happened, yet I got the feeling that Legacy-era Coruscant was still the ecumenipolis disco ball in space, so we can skip that, but it seems weird no amount of damage to the world, or the interest of the Emperor, plumbing the deprhs for dark secrets, set foot upon the world that existed prior to its being engulfed in industry.

This sounds very similar to hive cities in Warhammer. The areas closest to the surface of the planet are full of creatures that are extremely hostile, and people with psychic powers pop up there often.
While the imagery is very cool, I feel like a place like Corusant would have frequent death squads to clear the lower levels. Think about it, yes, the lower levels are beneath the city, but they still have parts that are no doubt crucial to the infrastructure of the city. Imagine a reactor breaking down and someone has to get to level 2 to fix it. Or if seismic activity broke some drainage pipes or whatever.
