I really wish the Pergamene Noble Cavalry had been adjusted. It is a very cool unit as it is basically a Hippeus Lancer with the charge bonus of a Cataphract, but 45 armor on a unit with a large hit box and no shield is really rough. If they were 1080 (like Hippeus) or maybe 1100 then the massively increased charge and slight better MA, MD and Morale would be worth the 15 less armor.
Interesting builds from both players, with pros and cons, such as Pergamon giving up infantry quality for mobility and the Egyptian giving up mobility for superior infantry.
I'd be cool with that, so long ad it was a major debuff to reload time, or an ability that stops their shooting for a while, but gives them like 20% ammunition ammunition back. Both, I'd say, once per battle
@@brandonparnell6160 True. You could have a "rock quality" modifier for different zones. Maybe some maps have better rocks with better range/damage than others
@@solomonreinman7452 I was thinking more a penalty after regenerating that ammo since you can't just have a missle unit with unlimited ammo with some sort of loss balance wise
Interesting battle and interesting builds. Egypt got the job done, but chasing skirmisher cavalry like that is usually not the best idea. Also, Egypt's pike units are good, but they can be tough to use properly since they do not function well overall in Rome 2. I thought Pergamon might win this due to their shock cavalry, but Egypt outlasted them. GG to both players and thanks to Heir for sharing this battle with us.
Some people are good with them, but I find them to be a weaker MP faction. Though as long as you are a player that doesn't mind not having the most op units their campaign is quite good. You are in quite a central location and surrounded by potential enemies or allies depending on how you want to play it. It has quite a lot of replayability for a campaign from an older game.
@@howitzer551 Agreed. I find going west first is always a plus. Taking Greece and Rome first, and holding everything down to Carthage, in the Southeast and Massilia in the Northwest, puts you in a great position to be all but unstoppable. After that you have huge food surpluses due to the special food resource (you should have three of them) as well as two iron resources to upgrade your units fully both offensively and defensively. It's fun having those specialty units basically on steroids marching clear across the map.
It stinks about pikes. It goes back to the engine. They shouldn't have used Warscape for melee based Total War games. I mean, they got Shogun 2 to work, but you could see the amount of effort it took.

Nothing like a good ole succesor state battle
Egypt had a pyramid bonus that game!

Hot take, slingers should have had unlimited ammo on battlefields with rocks on the ground

I mean yes but slinger ammunition was incredibly varied, often rocks just weren't always the best in every situation.
@@freakindirt12341 Yeah I like that idea a lot. I think there was a mod that Heir covered a bit back in the day that implemented that

I can't speak for multiplayer, but I always loved Pergamon in campaign.

Seems like the fatigue bonus egyptian units get in the sun actually helped the cav catch the pergamese tarantine
its funny
for pikes to work right units need to know how to move backwards without turning)....so i dont depend on it
Total War: Alexander The Great 👍🏻.
That has to be an epic game. No question.❤

They really don't care, if it saves them money they'll continue to use it
i miss rome 2 mutiplayer so much :')
Dang, Egypt winning was bogus, he made so many mistakes....
